Pretty important.

WASHINGTON—Newly disclosed emails show top Obama administration officials were in close contact with Hillary Clinton’s nascent presidential campaign in early 2015 about the potential fallout from revelations that the former secretary of state used a private email server.

Their discussion included a request from the White House communications director to her counterpart at the State Department to see if it was possible to arrange for Secretary of State John Kerry to avoid questions during media appearances about Mrs. Clinton’s email arrangement.

In another instance, a top State Department official assured an attorney for Mrs. Clinton that, contrary to media reports, a department official hadn’t told Congress that Mrs. Clinton erred in using a private email account.

The previously unreported emails were obtained by the Republican National Committee as part of a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit seeking records of Mrs. Clinton’s time in office. The RNC provided to The Wall Street Journal only some of the emails, leaving it unclear what was in the remaining documents. The RNC said it released only emails relevant to the communication between the White House and State Department.

Meredith McGehee, chief of policy, programs, and strategy at the nonpartisan advocacy group Issue One and an expert on ethics and campaign finance, said the email exchange would probably raise no legal concerns because federal law permits members of the White House staff to engage in some political activity.

Doesn't seem like a it was illegal. Nor does it seem particularly surprising.

They didn't cover anything up, one group of Democrats coordinated politically with another group of Democrats.

Still won't stop me from voting for the candidate less likely to start a nuclear war because he got insulted on Twitter.

So, the President's people talked the people of a former staff member and potential successor to discuss the email situation and any potential fallout. That sounds like what you should do if you are working together. That's communication.

Are people supposed to practice politics in some sort of isolation bubble?

Do you think anyone actually cares about this email thing aside from people using it as ammo against the Dems/Hillary?

"The RNC provided to The Wall Street Journal only some of the emails, leaving it unclear what was in the remaining documents. The RNC said it released only emails relevant to the communication between the White House and State Department."

How convenient.

From my reading, it looks like there's sort of two separate emails (or email chains, maybe) being discussed in this article.

1) State Dept. staff and White House comms directors talking to each other about trying to get John Kerry to avoid questions about Clinton's email practices during her tenure as State Sec.

2) A conversation between one of Hillary Clinton's lawyers and a member of State Dept. staff in which the lawyer was upset at a Politico piece about the investigation. The Politico piece had quoted a State staffer who had called Clinton's practices "not acceptable."

So, yeah, nothing here that really amount to anything, I think. I'm not an expert, but this is the level on conversation I would expect.

I love it when threads start out with shit like "opinions?" "Important stuff" without adding anything to it. Makes me wonder if they read the stuff they post.

I think posts like this are mostly missing the point at this point.

GOP already knows trump is dead in the water baring insanity. They're running all this crap to maintain control of the senate, running a "vote R to maintain a check on Corrupt Hilary" campaign.

Man, I was expecting some collusion between the Obama administration/DoJ/Clinton campaign/FBI about the investigation into her emails. I wanted hot, juicy gossip, this shit isn't even lukewarm.

Why do you believe this is important, OP?

News deserves a thread. If it ain't important it will sink in the pages.

You're keeping it at the top of the first page in the OT (and I am as well, by responding to you).

I don't see anything exactly scandalous in the OP but the scandals against Clinton aren't really heavy on the details usually, just keeping her name associated with scandals.
