+ Trailer was overall better than expected
+ Matte finish
+ Main unit looks nice
+ Controllers work when split
+ The list of support is promising, and even though it's almost always bluster the sight of Skyrim, even if I don't care for it at all, is intriguing
- no 3D (Unfortunately expected and I doubt they'll have glasses support)
- doesn't appear to be any way to use the screen and the TV at the same time, killing all possible dual screen use (which makes up 10 years of experience) and thus quite a few possible sequels
- Fucked up the right side
- Loss of traditional dpad
~ Splatoon may or may not be a sequel
+ Pants
~ Mario Kart may or may not be a sequel
+ King Boo
- 2 items
~ Price is unknown
~ Name is whatever
~ Logo relies too much on controller layout which will put a major restriction against layout revisions

The handheld is sexy as fuck. Such a huge departure from the 3DS/Wii U era too, think about it

No IR remote
No touchscreen (from what is shown)
No Dual screen
No Gyro (from what is shown)

Just a pure hardcore gaming handheld ala Vita but much more powerful.

Can you believe it?

It almost certainly has a touch screen, and I'll be surprised if the controller don't support motion, but I get your point.

Surprised at all the hate the name is getting. Personally, I think Switch is BRILLIANT. Very easy to say. Easy to pronounce. Natural. It makes sense. And there are layers and layers of meaning.

Mark my words:
They will sell the portable alone as the 3DS-successor and the portable+Base as a set as Wii U-successor. And then offer the Base alone for people looking to upgrade from the portable standalone.

Gotta agree on the sentiment that it seems a bit flimsy, but I look forward to the versatility of it. And hey I'm getting Splatoon and Zelda, that's all I need to skip the WiiU with no regrets :D

SKYRIM?!!?!?!?!

No...
Please...
Don't make this a day one purchase...
Don't make me buy a fifth copy...............

PORTABLE SKYRIM....

Oh god I can't let my kid see this. I'm going to hide the computer cables so he doesn't see it...

Well I hope that means the next Monster Hunter is coming on this console.

Also, I assume they haven't mentioned Specs anywhere yet have they? Curious how comparable it is to the Wii U.

I do not know how I should feel about it. On the one hand it is great that Nintendo finally concentrates on games, pure games. However I do not see the advantages of this detachable thing. I mean basically this console got promoted like a smartphone. What puts it beyond that. There is already I controller for iOS devices which make your tablet look quite abit like the portable thing Nintendo has:

HJEM2

However I guess time will tell. Right now I am not very impressed. Too many old games in that trailer so I am curious how third party devs will handle this plattform. I mean if they sell it for under 200€ I guess I am in. But yeah, unlikely.

New Mario looked really pretty but damn if some of those controllers don't look incredibly uncomfortable.

The portable aspect is really cool functionality wise but it's really being oversold imo and it just means once again the console will be underpowered and will fail to get proper 3rd party support.

I am not sure on this so many negatives running through my head.

Low spec due to being basically a tablet
Close up shots on TV look very low res (720p) and aliased, just as everyone else is looking at 4k Ninty is going backwards
Separated single controllers look too small to use properly those people look uncomfortable
With all the attaching and re-attaching I'm sure things will get loose and not stick
Bad battery life whilst not docked is surely a given considering size of screen
Probably high price tag as the Wii U is still overpriced now

I'll be buying one, day one, and hope Nintendo well but I don't see why this won't be treading down the same path as the Wii U. Thats a pretty huge "handheld" for most people to really walk around with, hopefully they also release a smaller screen version.

I'm guessing the accepted abbreviation will become the NS? Sounds better than saying, "Is it coming out on the Switch?"

"Switch the Switch off and get ready for bed!"

Dude if 3rd party finally deliver on a Ninty console, this will be amazing. I'm in already, but the idea of being able to play Bethesda, EA, Ubisoft and more on a modern Nintendo console...oh man!!

SO IN! BRING IT!
The thought of being able to play games from these companies without the loading introduced by optical media over a decade ago... oh man!

This is entirely unappealing to me. In just about every way it seems practically useless if you aren't in it just for the Nintendo games.

Fucking fantastic. This thing is made for me. Portability for business trips, being able to slot your system in for tournaments to keep your settings (great for the tourney scene), a pro controller and a propped up mini screen for playing at a picnic or something.

All of this is really cool.

Now it just needs the library. This needs lots of great multiplayer and single player titles.

- Nintendo aren't the first to use the idea of playing console games anywhere at anytime on a tablet screen. They're Nintendo so they won't be the best at doing it either.

Are you sure about that? The Wii-U gamepad had less latency than any other game streaming device.

Come on. It's Nintendo. There are no reasons to expect better games, better infrastructure, better customer service, better online, or a better line-up than with the Wii U.

Ha, except all the handheld games will now be released on the SAME platform. Wii-U library plus 3DS library would be a pretty strong library for ANY console.

At least it has a 3.5mm headphone jack LOL

Nintendo so behind the times even now. Tsk tsk tsk

That is actually horrible yes.

yeah on the portability thing I think I'm satisfied. I felt so alone when I said I prefered it to be portable(handheld) Since...well I prefer that and it suits my lifestyle better :)

Anyway Nayan....who should I ask question about releases these day? I heard you moved in the company, congratulations? But I still need my fix of Playism Info :D

If, if Nintendo can hit a good price on this that's attractive to consumers this could be a big hit. But I fear for the price because of all that I saw on the reveal didn't exactly look cheap.

Time will tell.

This actually looks great!

Maybe the first Nintendo console I own.

Is it BC with Wii/WiiU stuff somehow? Digital? That wa smy take from Splatoon, unless there is a new version of that coming to Switch.

Had to do a double take when I saw Skyrim, and I want to assume it's the HD remaster.

It's, an interesting system. Might be a bit complex for some who just want to just plug in and play but I can understand why they're going to this route. People want portability, but with the right TV graphics will look incredible.

I can tell this was made for those who commute in mind. Maybe FFXIV might be playable on it, that would be cool.

I'm really interested in this but things like this:

I kinda wonder about.

So the gang is playing NBA 2K, at least from the video, but they're playing with just an analog stick and 4 face buttons. Maybe one or two shoulder buttons.

It makes me wonder if 2K, and other developers, are releasing simplified versions of the games like what EA and 2K did for their sports lineups for the Wii, whcih were stripped down versions with simplified 1-button controls and more arcade-style gameplay. As you may know, you can't play NBA 2K with just 1 analog stick and 4 face buttons. It has a very complex control scheme.

I wish it was more colorful but the design is interesting imo, at least more interesting than Wii U. I like the big, front facing logo.

To the people saying "it doesn't fit in pockets anymore!" I say: what the hell kind of pants have you been wearing that you can put a handheld system (sans GB Micro) in your pocket? Cargo shorts? Hammer pants?

Is the docking station strictly a dock to plug a TV into? Does it process or assist computing in anyway? Or is everything processed on that tablet/screen?

I like the concept, but I need to see more details to become excited. Anyways, the whole reveal is done surprisingly clear after the Wii U and 3DS.

I think it's gonna easily perform better than Wii U but not come close to the heights of the Wii.

Can't wait to be quoted in a few years about how wrong I was about this.
