PORTABLE DARK SOULS!!!
Portable Dark Souls, portable Skyrim, portable Zelda, portable EVERYTHING! :D

I just fear that the battery life will be horrible, they need a great battery or this social local multiplayer portable focus will fall flat on it's face.

As someone that has a Wii U and plays games mostly (99%) on the bigscreen....I feel like I already own the non-slim version of this system. I feel like the Switch is actually the Wii U S or Wii U Slim.

So not terribly excited. They showed off Mario, MarioKart, Splatoon and Zelda that can either be played on the Wii U or look like they would have no trouble running on the Wii U.

The Switch looks much more appealing as a successor to the 3ds. It's like if the 3ds was more like this at launch then I would never have bought a Wii U.

It's also appealing if this is indeed Nintendo's 1 platform to rule all them all and you won't have to get your panties in a bunch because a new mario or zelda game is on the handheld and not on the big screen system. That will be huge and likely get me to buy the system anyway.

And if you can still play wireless local multiplayer when docked then I might buy two or three.

Seems a little soon for a new Smash game, doesn't it? It only came out in 2014. I figure we'll see "Smash for Switch" sometime in 2019 at the earliest.

Lots of rumors of Smash 4 being ported. Same with Splatoon, and that turned out true, though it is upgraded in ways.

I'm not feeling it. I wish they'd focus on games instead of gimmicky game systems. Why can't they make a solid console?

The Xbox One barely recovered against the PS4. Asking Nintendo to make a generic console is like asking them to go 3rd party.

Which is a valid thing to ask if that's what you really want. But I don't think there's any room for 3 identical game consoles in the market anymore.

I cant believe how hyped i am after a 3min trailer. I was already getting one, but now im 200% in on this Nintendo Switch. I dig the name too. Sorry WiiU, you have been a good friend, but time to move on.

im not getting rid of my WiiU

Still can't get over how hot the first guy in the trailer is.
So I wasn't the only one ogling his crotch?

Relieved to know

That looked awesome. Can't wait.

Hoping (probably in vain) for Nvidia Gamestream compatibility. That would be so perfect.

But I still don't understand how one does it. Do you just lay your fingers across the length of the top of the handheld or something? I usually just have my fingertips resting on the shoulder buttons.
It's usually just when it's in my pocket - for instance, it happened to me once just a few weeks ago. I had my new 3DS XL in my pocket with my wallet, and some jostling or another popped out the cart. I've also had an instance where I've accidentally bumped the cart - on the bottom slot that the new 3DS has - and popped it out during gameplay, but thankfully I was playing something else at that time.

I like it. Very cool concept and the games, from what I can tell, look great. I'm in.

Not a fan of the name Switch, though. I also think Joy-Con sounds dumb. That's not really that big a deal, though.

What's really great is that all of Nintendo developers will be working on one unified system. That's a beautiful thing.

Hopefully they allow you to stream to the TV wirelessly without docking it so that you can use the touch screen (provided it has one) in home TV mode. Essentially, make the dock into a Chromecast-like device. Otherwise, things like Mario Maker would only be playable on the TV for playing levels rather than creating them.

i like the concept.. i got excited but the specs are a let down. i dont see how third party developers would justify a downgrade from current/mid (pro/scorpio) gen games. Definitely a great system for Nintendo's amazing 1st party lineup.

Pretty much. Nintendo basically have to differentiate themselves to stand a chance, and combining their home console and handheld markets will strengthen them as a company.

Ridiculous dreaming.
He may not be right, but he's right. They really can't sell this for more than $250 on the sticker. They need to drive the cost down hard in the base package. The screen/console, the dock, and the two little controllers and that's it (not even the controller shell thing, if they can get away with it). It's DOA otherwise.

It is a really cool view of a hybrid console, but I'm going to say it: Smartphones. Consoles. People fall into one demographic or both, and they already have what they want. This is a companion device to both markets whether Nintendo likes it or not.

I'm actually really digging this but I'm confused - are these games backwards compatible digital upgrades, new games, etc? Because now that it's clear this is a new system (Yay for no Wii 2.0) now we're unsure of if these are new games or not (Yay, another point of confusion).

I have a lot of digital Wii U games and would like to upgrade.
