It's pretty par for the course for any new console reveal.
75% of handheld gaming devices I've seen in public have been in the hands of adults. This thing is even closer to a "social acceptable" (which I think is silly, but what you're alluding to) device like an iPad.

Well I'm sure it depends a bit on where you live. But I can honestly say I cant remember the last time I've seen any adult on anything other then a phone/tablet. They aren't going to buy this lol

With the right software I'm totally in, that Mario and Zelda footage is what I wanted years ago. Nintendo and Capcom surprising me by reversing so many years of weirdness... Cautiously optimistic they'll clean up and organize their online structure?

Having a large casing doesn't necessarily facilitate using a large battery. If you look at something like laptops the battery can begin to add weight very easily. It is almost impossible for me to imagine a scenario where this device has good battery life. At the end of the day this is not a premium device.
I would say that the device Nintendo is presenting does not accommodate the handheld space or cater to the same principles their dedicated handhelds have. Does a cumbersome device like this that will be limited by battery life really serve the handheld market? Having a more power hungry device does not really serve the more practical handheld exclusives like Rhythm Heaven, Etrian Odyssey, or Phoenix Wright. Even games with heavy overlap like Smash Bros. and 3D Land had to redesign major elements of their game to accommodate a smaller screen and limited control options. It is not a 1:1 transition for many titles.
In what setting? Is the intention to bring this to some public place to meet with friends? How does this device benefit players on the go to play with one another compared to simply playing at someone's home? The tiny kickstand propped screen and dinky controllers are a cumbersome interpretation of these titles.

The Switch is perfect for me and i'm in that age range. I can take the portable with me to work, keep it in my locker and play it during breaks and lunches.
Take it home, plug it in and continue on the TV.
How is this really any different than carrying around a Gameboy, or a 3DS, a Vita or even gasp a Smartphone or Tablet?
I can see not using the controllers for multiplayer because they are small. But they don't look very awkward. You can't knock it until you've held it. It might just *work*
There's also the possibility you can still use other wireless controllers instead of those as well if you choose so.
And when using them standalone or with the tablet. They look great.
Stick placement on the Wii U Gamepad and Pro controller was awkward for me personally, to use to try and reach any of the face buttons. It was really uncomfortable. Not horrible, but I greatly prefer the face buttons up top.

No? They had a two hour conference with specs, features, and games. Then there were a series of smaller reveals and interviews (iirc) and GDC leading up to E3.

Say what you want about the West but Switch will do really well in Japan. Monster Hunter on Switch will be big in Japan.

I think it's great because it's portable. But you tried to eliminate the obvious answer by setting up an arbitrary condition. Still, even if I didn't take it out of my house, I still really like portability inside of it for all the same reasons off-tv play was nice. And yes even in terms of Nintendo games, if hybrid is really the focus means you potentially get even more of those than standard. I also look forward to what else they haven't said, about the software and services and about what other plans they could have for alternate controllers and such. We don't have full picture, hell there might be some crazy gotcha that turns everyone off. What you are doing is a classic pattern of setting up hard goals and then failing things because they didn't meet them. That's fine for personal preferences but just remember that it's disingenuous to push those as the public opinion, at least without better backing.
This is actually the first time in quite some time where I disagree when it comes to Nintendo hardware. If this was, say, a new Nvidia Shield with the exact same hardware, I would totally be interested.
I'm 32 and I'm definitely planning on taking it on my longer bus rides around town. Mostly I'll just play it while curled up in bed or on my couch, though.
Eh, we can't take that as 100% confirmation given that 1) Nintendo lies and 2) Mochi didn't think there would be a reveal this week. Emily & Laura both said more stuff before the end of the month and they've been pretty spot on with everything they've reported.
I do think a big January blowout makes more sense, but that's cutting it awfully close for the launch lineup.
I hope GameStop handles preorders better this time around than the shittastic manner in which they handled it last time.

There's lots they can and will talk about that has nothing to do with specific game titles and specific specs.
I hope they take a note out of Nokia's book for the screen. Nokia's phones are incredible in direct sunlight. I believe the main tech is called SRE, works beautifully.

I think $300 is realistic. $250 is ideal, but looking at the launch window, it puts them in a position to have a price drop around holiday if they get off to a slower than expected start. But they obviously don't want to get off to a bad start like they did with 3DS and Wii U... So I could see more aggressive pricing. We'll just have to wait and see.

It used to be where they'd give a week or two of notice, so that you could plan ahead. Many of us who have jobs can't drop everything at a moment's notice to beat the rush to the store.

skyrim can run fine on a pretty low end system by today's standards. i imagine if that port happens it'll be completely fine
I'll get this if it has better specs than the WiiU and decent battery life as I have a gamepad for big handheld nintendo gameplay at home, the screen isn't great but I'm not sure that's worth rebuying all the nintendo games again.

With so many configuration of control they are trying to put in the Switch, I can't believe they take out the most important of all (and one that Nintendo started with in the market) : THE TOUCH SCREEN.
I really love the DS era with the innovation they brought to touch screen gaming. Now they back out of that. Same with motion control.

In my 30s here. Fuck yeah I'm gonna take this sucker outside with me. Gonna play the shit out of Breath of the Wild on the go.
I haven't preordered a console in about 5 years, so I'm not quite sure. You can sign-up on their webpage to get an alert, but I don't know beyond that. I hope they've gotten better.
