So uh, Titanfall 2 Campaign is amazing

good enough. bought...what's even better, free MP.

Will let you know if I can do some good performance on 1080p.

Yeah, PC Performance thread would be interested also ;)

The Surface Book's modified 940m almost does that I mentioned so for sure the 960m will blow it out the water

I think a 660 is the minimum spec too

I've been somewhat interested in Titanfall since seeing the first game, because who wouldn't be interested in first-person parkour and human + giant mech battles, but I don't play really multiplayer in anything. So the campaign really pushed me over the fence here

The length and praise of the set-pieces helped too. I love awesome set pieces in games, and I tend to replay my favorites. Shorter games help with that too.

Same. I never played the first one but the concept appealed to me but I wasn't sure if I'd be picking up the game because October has been a killer month. The early impressions and feedback about the campaign though pushed me to driving out Friday morning to a local Walmart and picking it up.

I'm really glad I did. I haven't really played BF1 since Friday as I've been rotating my time between TF2 and World of Final Fantasy.

For shooters though I rarely ever play the multiplayer stuff unless I'm playing with my IRL friends which is a little sad considering the cool gaffers I have on my friend's list. Marvel's video from MP looked killer so I'll have to give it a shot at some point...lol

Wow I'll have to buy the game after reading all this. Just don't know to what platform, PS4 or PC.

I'm worried that the MP might die on PC, but I'd rather play FPS on PC

I found a video online that apparently was the 960m and he had it on default (high) and it seem to run fine. But even on low it looked pretty good.

Going to be nice getting into a single player fps campaign and in MP where I can continue to stink but customize my character.

I only play the campaigns in these things. I bought many a CoD at launch (20% discount of course) to just play the campaign, including IW this year for CoD 4 and IW campaign. Wasnt gonna jump on this but i figure people are making threads about how good it is i might as well. Grabbed it at GMG for 49$.

Most of the time ill consider it worth it if its very high quality 6-8 hours. I'm a fan of expensive pixels on my screen. Million dolla pixels i say. I treat my screen nice.

was looking at the new COD as well but the 70GB of HDD space it needs put a sour taste to my mouth.

Glad to see this getting the attention it deserves.

Since launch, DOOM locked up my GOTY, its focus on mirror-sheen gameplay straight missing from most modern shooters. It blew me away, and took me back to the white knuckle rides of the old shooters. The only blemish was its atrocious multiplayer, but the campaign was worth the price tag alone. DOOM is the old guard, showing that its breed of shooter still has bite.

And yet, Titanfall 2 swooped in at the 11th hour and takes the GOTY crown. Its refreshingly brisk campaign is the modern breed of shooters at their absolute best. It's campaign has more narrative weight and honest heart than it has any right to have, without descending into masturbatory cutscenes ala modern COD. It's gameplay-first-focus melds with its narrative in a way I haven't enjoyed since Half-life 2. It's inventive, without being overly complicated, in the best possible ways: each wrinkle it introduces augments the shooting and mobility in ways that keep you focused, challenged, and constantly enjoying new things, from start to finish. And once its said and done, it's brilliant multiplayer cements its status. Hats off to Respawn. Knocked it out of the park.

Just finished it. It was awesome. The mech gameplay is so great and there are a bunch of really surprising stuff I never would've expected in a big budget shooter campaign.

At the very least it's worth a rental from Redbox for the day or two it should take to finish.

Titanfall 2 Devs: Release a campaign-only edition at 29.99 and you got yourself another sale.

Paying 60 big ones for a ton of features I have no interest in is not going to work for me.

Knowing that this will not happen, I eagerly await a deep sale.

I've replayed Uncharted 2's Desperate Time and Uncharted 3's Cruise Ship levels so many times. I enjoy going back to favorite set-pieces, so if the impressions here are anything to go by, I'll get at least 10-12 hours out of Titanfall 2's campaign

I'm still playing though but one chapter in particular blew my mind with how genius the level design was that I had to stop playing after I finished it. I needed a break to let just how good what I had just played simmer in my brain for a bit.

Best thing is that I hear the rest of the campaign is just as good, if not better.

Makes sense, well the story not being shit doesn't but from a gameplay sense it does. Despite industry wide attempts no-one has been able to reach the heights of MW2's campaign. They're simply better than everyone else at set piece shooters.

Respawn basically has everyone in their sights with Titanfall 2's SP campaign. It's that good.

Naughty Dog would do well to try to poach staff from Respawn because there are moments when Titanfall 2 top Uncharted set pieces.

It's really really good. I'm just about done (I think), and I've enjoyed every minute of it after the somewhat slow first stage.

There's some really cool mechanics at work, the platforming is a blast, and it doesn't just feel like a bunch of random set pieces thrown together. It's paced really well.

I was not expecting this many people to vouch for ANY single player FPS campaign over Doom this year, let alone for a sequel to a game that had a non-existent solo experience. Respawn is showing they're a powerhouse.

Vince Campiella is a mad scientist. It's got to be tough to start a brand new dev studio from scratch for a second time but he clearly brought his secret sauce recipe to Respawn.

I just picked this up and will probably start the campaign tonight.

Its IMO the best fps campaign in at least the last 10 years.

I still can't believe how this snuck up on people, it's a major AAA release and I don't even remember them showing much campaign stuff

And fuck me, they've got enough crazy setpieces in this that they could pick like three and not spoil a thing

I thought the campaign would just be an after thought, a storyline draped over the multiplayer maps - so happy to hear that isn't the case!!

Yo for real, I'm getting a completely awesome second playthrough out of this. Completely different playstyle.

The sound (with headphones) is really engaging. I'd say it's like how Doom 3 always has atmosphere no matter how many times you go through it, this game is impactful. Definitely, recommend headphones for this or a good sound system.

I was saying this to a bunch of my friends (all ND fan boys) it didn't go over well. They couldn't understand how I could enjoy most of TF's setpieces over UC4's. Honestly, I wouldn't believe me either if I hadn't played it. Especially since it is FPS vs TPS

For me it was all about the player agency and game mechanics on display

Welp

This game went up my to-get list.

All TF1 needed was a single campaign mode. It would had helped that game out tremendously.

I honestly hate to compare everything to Platinum, but TF2s campaign does feel like if Platinum made an FPS with a large budget. There are multiple sequences that feel like MGR and Vanquish. That It came from a western dev (not a slight) under EA is really amazing.

This is how you put a SP into your multiplayer series. If you're going to spend resources on it, make it good. Looking at you, DICE.

Here's some level 1 footage (no spoilers):

I think you're attributing a bit too much to Vince here. A lot of that team I believe has been together since they were 2015, Inc and been through thick and thin. No doubt they know each other well and how to work well with each other. Of course that doesn't account for the other talented folk they worked with/brought in as Infinity Ward/Respawn Entertainment but they are obviously very talented and know to stick together to bring the best out of themselves as a team.

This pretty much sums it up for me, and I've just been playing it online. I haven't had this much fun with a multiplayer shooter in almost 10 years. It does everything at least above average, and I'm left without any complaints (hell, without any nitpicks).

It's the kind of campaign that you remember almost every moment of, even days after you've beaten it. This is one of those rare times where the previews understated how good the campaign actually is. And the previews were still pretty positive.

I'm really excited for Respawn's Star Wars game now.

Amazing single and multiplayer in 1 pack, so happy I decided to pick this instead BF1.

Just gotta hope it doesnt die because of bad marketing.

Sell the campaign only for 20 bucks and I might buy it. Not paying for MP I have no interest in. So I will either red box it or wait till it hits the Hardline price of about 10.

So in other words, you literally don't buy any games that have Multiplayer? Not sure how this is different from anything else.
