So uh, Titanfall 2 Campaign is amazing

Currently on the
pre-fab assembly line

Very exciting so far. I really like how you can switch Titan loadouts seamlessly, and how you can flank with cloak. The parkour and sliding definitely encourages constant movement

Finally.played the first couple hours and while it was very solid I have yet to run into the holy shit the sp is amazing stuff yet.

But I'm assuming the first couple hours.are there to let you get your knees under you and its going to pick up

Good assumption!

This game gives me simulation sickness like crazy. Really trying to just power through it in hopes I get used to the camera and can enjoy it for longer periods of time. I'm just about an hour, maybe 90 mins in and the level design is really nice. Enjoying the combat a lot. It's very fluid.

Source strikes again. Sorry to hear that, I hope you'll get through it.

I really want to play this, but I just can't stop playing the MP.

This is a really good problem to have, hehe.

Just find a cosy evening or two and you'll blast through it! Well worth it even on lower difficulties. Creative and spectacular, and if anything got me even more pumped to play MP.

Oh god those terrible fake South African accents.

Have a fuckin' brai, bru!

*braai :P

They sounded legit to me, but then again I'm not South African.

We have a big SA population in New Zealand too, thought I'd be able to pick up on it :/

Yeah, it's just a bit over the top but not impossibly unlikely, in the same way that not every American has a thick Texan accent.

Shows what I know. They sounded properly Sith Ifrican to me.

Unless you've spent some time over here, you're probably used to the accents movies/TV use. If you want a decently accurate South African non-suburbanite accent, check out Dicaprio's Blood Diamond. Dude was pretty legit.

I'm 3 levels in and shocked at the quality of the campaign. It feels like Halo mixed with Mario Galaxy. Level design is fantastic.

can vouch for this as well, really enjoying this game and loving the different mechanics you have to learn and make use of to move forward with the story

What does the beta have to do with the campaign?

The MP is miles better than the beta too, on another level. I was so disappointed by the beta, but now I'm absolutely hooked on the full game. This is CoD4 level of good. Sat at work just wishing I was playing the game.

I'll keep harping on this because it sticks out as the one obvious weak point, but Respawn needs to do better with the boss fights, so much wasted potential.

What they should NOT do though is give up and drop them entirely like some other franchises

The SP is inventive and movement fluid but the enemies just aren't a challenge. Playing on hard, I'm not dying outside of platforming pratfalls. It's cool to have so many options tactically speaking but you don't need to use them when paired up against COD-style enemies.

Interesting!
What about Sharlto Copley and co. in District 9? Most of those actors are native, right?

I like how Copley took to his role in Equilibrium, too. Really hammed it up and showed he has good range.

But I digress. Blisk. Haha, you can't even say his bloody name without accidentally doing a poor SA accent.

TF2 boss battles are solid. I like how they're hyped up and introduced. Only (boss name spoiler)
Ash's
felt somewhat anti-climactic to me, but to be fair the preceding level and "mini boss" were tough acts to follow.

Some of them were really fun, though. Loved everything about the
Tone
battle. Felt like I was 12 years old again, playing a Saturday morning cartoon.

My main issue that most seem to overlook is the enemy AI. This is always an important thing to me in FPSes and the cardboard cutout 'stand there and shoot' type of enemy bugs me a lot. I've always been more into the FEAR/Halo/Half Life kind of enemy AI rather than the COD type.

They definitely should have had AI enemy pilots thrown into the mix. Right now the only threat are stalkers who might slowly manage to amble toward your position. But imagine if you had to deal with a pilot flanking you while trying to deal with all the other enemies.

The Titan battles are better but still pretty simple. Any fight where there's cover is easy because they are not aggressive at all. The only boss fights that even pose a threat are the ones where there's no cover or they rush you with melee.

Now I'm not saying there weren't great moments nor am I saying it's bad. There's even a few awesome parts like when you're wall running around the top of a level frantically avoiding tick mines who are jumping around after you. I get that they want to emphasize that pilots are badasses who mow down regular troops but I really think that encounters were missing something.

I played it on Hard, I could see Master being more about careful use of cloak but I went with Hard just so I could goof around with wallruns and slides instead of playing cautiously. I can't even imagine how invincible you must be on the easiest difficulty.

I hope I am still on the first chapter and it gets better because so far I have went to fetch a power core. Only to get back to fetch another power core, to then get back walk in the Titan for a bit then do some corridor shooting. Not exactly seeing anything new here. Especially when You add in the by the numbers mech to human banter.

wouldn't be GAF without someone playing 15 minutes of a game then complaining about it.

I'm at Mission 4 and things start to be very interesting.
The first three were a mixed bag [sorry, people, pilot combat encounters aren't solid or exciting enough to carry on their shoulders so many big portions of the whole experience without some strong ideas or gimmicks].

For me, I was really surprised that the campaign ended up being so good, but also felt kinda bad for doubting it considering these dues gave us COD4 and MW2's SP.

If there's any real shock to this is that it took 3 people to write. Three. For a relatively simple story. Plus, I don't think the core relationship with BT is at all as good as it could've been, and while I was there in the emotional beats, it was different in an orchestrated kind of way (a la BioShock Infinite's core relationship compared to the way BioShock 2 felt a lot more "natural").

But all these are mere nitpicks for the campaign. Weak, generic bs sci-fi story aside, it still has great moments and the game design is what makes it so damn great.

Just finished the campaign. Overall, pretty great. If i had one gripe it's that it was a bit too easy. Not just the ai, but the puzzles/platforming as well. I certainly didn't expect some of the mechanics presented in the single player and it was a bit of a bummer that they never used those to really challenge you. It was cool, just too easy.

Just finished the
time-travel
mission. My God, was so much fun. I can't wait to see what the rest of the campaign has to offer.

What does the beta have to do with the campaign?

First impressions. People were writing the game off entirely based on the beta, which turned out to be premature.

The SP is inventive and movement fluid but the enemies just aren't a challenge. Playing on hard, I'm not dying outside of platforming pratfalls. It's cool to have so many options tactically speaking but you don't need to use them when paired up against COD-style enemies.

This is very true. Combatwise, there's not much challenge present. I imagine there's a massive skill ceiling in terms of potential play, staying mobile the whole time and that sort of thing, but the skill floor is really, really low.

what happen not all those negative comments regarding the beta?

Didn't play it, but I guess they fixed 'em 'cause this shit controls and plays great..

At this point, I wouldn't mind if Valve just contracted Respawn to make Half Life 2: Episode 3 or Half Life 3. The campaign felt like such a perfect mash between HL2, Portal and Mirror's Edge to me, with amazing gunplay.

Hell, the engine is Source-based so we're already half way there.

lol I forgot about that. I know when I shot glass, the mark it made reminded me of a Source engine game.

Fuck this thread for hyping me.
I wasn't buying Titanfall 2 after the rapid death of Titanfall 1

Ugh

I felt the campaign was worth the price of admission to be honest. Yeah, it's short, but considering what recent games like Superhot cost, it's not that bad of a deal.

It left me feeling like a bad-ass, and I'm not an FPS 'pro' either.

So, I'm sure this has been asked a thosand times, but I'm not seeing an answer in the last few pages I scanned, but what's the general length of the campaign? Can I rent it from Redox and beat it in a couple of days? Not hugely interested in the multi, but if the campaign is actually that good I kind of want to try it out.

I finished Hard in around 5 hours or so, that sounds pretty doable.

You can beat it in an evening, took me about 4 hours on Normal mode.

I got it from Redbox at 3 in the afternoon on Saturday, and had it finished up by 8 on Sunday to get it back and only be charged a single day. 5-6 hours of play. Very doable.
