so is Votecastr a bust? or am I not looking in the right place? From what I can tell on Slate's website, it's still showing the same data based off of early voting with no update since I checked at 10:30 AM ET or so.

Massively IMO.

EDIT: They just actually updated.

CNN was saying something about Trump's lawyers suing because of Nevada letting poles stay open 2h over the limit for early voting.

once your there......isn't it law to have to allow everyone to vote? I swear thats how it was here.....as long as you showed up by the poll time....you had the right to vote and it didn't matter how long it took. They took votes till everyone that showed up before the closing period was done.

I live in a strongly Republican area. Turnout was higher than I've ever seen this morning. I confirmed it with an election worker -- she said it was the highest she'd ever seen, too. Not sure what that suggests, to be honest.
I think it means both sides fervently want their side to win.

The voter turnout is a good thing, but the amount of hate behind it is unsettling.

Sorry for asking because I'm sure many have done so already but are any stations (ie. NBC, CNN, MSNBC, etc etc etc) live streaming the election? I live in Canada and my house faces North so I can't pick up any US stations over the air.

If anyone has any links it's probably a good thing to put in the OP

So Trump is suing the Nevada county for keeping the polling location 2 more hours last Friday. WOW.

And the guy who introduced him at his rally that weekend in Reno said polling places were kept open just for "certain groups" and yelled to the crowd "Do you feel free right now?" The best part? That Cardenas wasn't even open the latest. The final early vote in Nevada was at 10:10pm in the lily white suburbs. This is purely for inciting racial hatred.

A lot of enthusiastic racists.

Of course lol

A vote isn't an expression, though. It's an instrument. There are two possible outcomes, one of which will occur- your vote is an instrument to make one of them more likely.

Besides, I could see it maybe if Sanders wasn't instrumental in drafting the Democratic platform which is Clinton's platform. Wouldn't it make sense to vote for the results of Bernie's campaign? He did achieve something. You voted against it.

A vote is an instrument used to express your decision on an opinion. I decided to express my thanks(opinion) to senator Sanders by using my vote as the delivery instrument. Hillary's platform wouldn't be where it is today if it weren't for Bernie.

With that being said, because we currently have a two-party system, and we're in a binary election, voting against Hillary would have been a vote for Trump (Republican platform). Not only that but I also said hell would freeze over before Trump won my state so your argument is a fallacy. Just as easily, I could have sat out this election. Would that be a vote against Bernie's results? No. The same holds true if I had voted for Micky Mouse.

I expressed my gratitude and what I did with my vote is not going against that.

The 24 hour news site will be talking about it all day. Most networks pick up coverage Starting at 7est. No clue if they'll stream online and without region locks though.

Parents told me they would rather I don't vote at all than vote for Hillary Clinton. So I voted this morning.

Actually was looking forward more to voting for rent control in my city. It's desperately needed since rent prices are at an all-time high.

So question, when a president is on the ballot for multiple parties (where I am in NY, Hillary is the nominee for Democrat, Working Families, and Women's Equality Party), the votes still go to the candidate no matter which party you vote for, right?

Fellow NY voter! I would assume so, but just to be safe I'd go with Democrat anyway since that's the big one. Not sure what the intention of the multiple party choice is, but I assume there's a reason somewhere.

I live near Roanoke, VA, and just went to vote at 1:00...

Literally NO LINE. Seriously, I was only the 1,000th voter out of 20,000 it seems.

I wonder if that's good or bad for Hillary.

Roanoke (City) went for Obama (60.1%) in 2012
Roanoke (County) went for Romney (61.7%) in 2012

So, that really does depend on which Roanoke you live in.

Calling a racist racist is racist.

Okay not all republicans are racists or sexist though. I voted hillary, but that doesnt mean its cool to disregard a group of people based on stereotypes (yes in this case i am reffering to republicans) just as its not cool for some of the more hardcore conservatives to do it to other groups of people, we really all need to stop hating eachother as much, thats what ive garnered from this election.

There were no campaign signs at all where I voted. It was at a fire station so they might not play those kinds of games there.

Basically there was a sign outside saying "no electioneering beyond this point" and up until right before that point it was plastered with signs for Hillary, Duckworth, and other Democratic candidates.

Just ignore this guy. Unfortunately we have morons in the UK just like any other nation. I appreciate tensions are running high for you, but please don't tar all of us non-American people with the same brush.

Personally, my fingers are crossed for Hillary and I'm feeling fairly confident she'll clinch it. It terrifies me that Trump is in this position to begin with though. Populism is becoming a real problem in the West, and it's not going to disappear over night with a Trump defeat unfortunately.

How many hours until results start trickling in?

And there was a technician on hand who fixed the machine's calibration and no one's votes were miscast.

Reports of this scenario were happening in Perry County as well. Not too mention people were claiming the same thing in Texas during early voting.

Regardless which way the machines were incorrectly casting votes - there is no reason for the poll workers to not be more diligent in their efforts to make sure they were working properly.

Also, can anyone confirm if a default choice is selected when you step into the booth?

With the current Republican candidate being a blatant racist advicating racist policies, Republicans now have the chance to show they're not racist.

Good. People who try to bully you into voting a particular way instead of persuading you via civil discussion can go pound sand.

Voted for the first time.

It said "ID Required" next to my name on the electoral roll when I signed in but the lady didn't ask for my ID but she did ask for the ID of the black man behind me though.

I didn't sense anything malicious or suspicious about it, she was busy and active and I think some unconscious biases slipped through.

I live in PA and voting in a few hours. Any reason to not just vote straight democrat? I have only been following the main candidates so I don'r know if the ads I see about Mcginty are for real or if its just the same type of shit republicans peddle about Hillary.

Don't vote for the ballot initiative. It is a trick. The wording is something like do you want judges to be forced retired at 75, and you think "well yes". But in reality this INCREASES the age from 70. Serious shenanigans.

Count one white middle class male for Hillary. My wife too. I live in a small outer suburb that's like 95% white and couldn't help but think every business dressed guy I saw there was pro-Trump. Made me uncomfortable, really.

Local news with informal exit polling. Just as I thought, Rubio looking strong. Gotta give it to him, he put in the work after the Primary loss to get support and stay neutral in the GOP shitshow. I bet he will be back for the next Presidential election.

The man they nominated to represent them is a racist and a sexist. That's on them. If they don't like it maybe they should start doing something about changing the perception instead of towing the party line like a bunch of cowards. You lay with dogs, you get fleas.

Fuck that. A vote for trump is a vote for racism and sexism. Not even a dog whistle.

If Hillary wins, I can finally stop thinking about the alt-right and can ignore them. I don't even want to see their meltdown, I just want to forget they exist.

It won't happen though. They'll rise again on the next polemic, or the next election. For sure with a new front face, with some adjustments to make their ideas more palatable, but they'll come back.

TrumpTV will back them all the way.

I'm literally crying from laughter right now

Got my vote in here in LA. The polling spot was literally down the block from me and I only had to wait like 2 minutes in line. It started to get more crowded once I was leaving. My community is mainly a black/hispanic one so it was great seeing people out and voting.

Maybe but at least I won't have to see them ruining the internet every other minute for a while.

Holy shit!
I can't quote everyone because there were too many responses but the HATE I just received for that post shows how hypocritical many people are. Don't like a candidate because he spews hate but then spew hate at anyone who even suggests that they might want him to win?

Are there any Trump supporters on GAF? Are they all mercilessly shut down and told that they are horrible people? This is a presidential candidate! A great man.

Where is the love and tolerance?

Except he's not. It's a complete fucking embarrassment he is where he is right now.

For many of us, there is no patriotic or party self-satisfaction guiding our outrage here - quite the contrary, it's more outrage that this country isn't taking this election seriously enough. If it did, a barely sentient wax museum animatronic with a twitter account would never even have made it as far as nominee.

Trump isn't a Republican, he isn't a Conservative, he's an opportunist and a charlatan, a snake oil salesman and a fraud, a failed businessman turned reality TV star, and a pathetically large percentage of our electorate can't tell the difference between someone who they recognize from TV and someone remotely qualified to be a statesman because they've lived a life so privileged, so coddled, or so isolated that they've not yet had to learn the difference.

I voted for the following:

President
Hillary Clinton

US Senator
Tammy Duckworth (D)

US Representative
Amanda Howland (D)

State Comptroller
Susana Mendoza (D)

State Representative
Nancy A. Zettler (D)

Kane Country Coroner
Tao Martinez (D)

I live in Illinois. There were some positions that only had one candidate running and they were all republicans, so I didn't vote for those. I don't want any republicans as state officials. I don't think it matters if I abstained from voting for those positions because regardless of how many votes they get, they'll most likely get the positions. That irritated me that there weren't democrats running for those positions.
