If you had looked at the internals of a lot of the polls over the past week and took into account reduced Democratic turnout (which we are seeing across the board), this result would have been expected.

Too many people i know either didnt vote or just voted for Johnson just because they didnt care for either one or felt that clinton would win regardless.
Idk why this mentality exists.

Sorry if this gets asked a lot but I'm still trying to wrap my head around this whole thing.

Reports of either side winning a state right now... are those reports final or preliminary? This is all very confusing. In the UK, once a county had all votes counted, the clocked in with the final amount. Whereas states are being marked as won with 5% of results.

It's all preliminary right now, even for states that have been called. The percentage needed before a state is called depends on whether a state heavily favors one party or the other, or if it is a close race.

For example, California is deep blue so it'll get called for Clinton with a small percentage of precincts reporting, while Oklahoma is guaranteed to go Republican so it'll be called right away. States that are closer (Florida, etc) will not be called until most precincts have reported totals.

Of course, when we talk about states being "called", it's just estimates from networks based on how current results from reporting precincts compare to expectations. It's not official for each state until all precincts report totals.

i kinda like the CNN coverage because they are reporting on the % of votes that each state is at instead of calling a state right away. panic control for me at least.

Okay so I'm only 22 but I am realizing that a lot of u have never watched an election on a news network before.

The media is hard pressed to drive the horse race narrative for ratings. Relax, Clinton will still win this ladies and gents

As a canadian, this thread is hilarious.

Hillary is a very weak candidate, if some moderate conservative like Marco Rubio were the republican candidate, would be a big red victory.

Why are people freaking out?

Fine. Go ahead and give Florida, Ohio, and North Carolina to Trump.

He's not winning Virginia, Pennsylvania, or Michigan.

Relax, Hillary has this.

Not freaking out (yet) but I think it's dangerous to assume Hillary is guaranteed to win.

Now back to drinking...

Some states we know which way they'll go. Like Alabama, I can tell you with 0% in that Trump got that. I can tell you that whoever runs in 2020 and 2024 will also get that.

"Battleground" states like Florida, Ohio, Pennsylvania, are the ones where we need to see more of the votes before they can be called safely. The votes are still being counted but they're called when it's safe to say which way things have gone. We have extremely accurate data on voting, so we have a good idea of what areas vote in what ways. So if if a candidate pulls ahead by a big enough margin, we know that the amount that will get picked up in other areas won't make up the difference.

Man, I really wish the Dems nominated someone likeable, they would've stomped Trump.

Fucking Democrats underestimated the amount of dumbasses in the US and the amount of people who hate Hillary enough to vote against her.

not the first time. So in essence.. they are the dumbasses.

it's not over, but should be a wake up call in the long run.

I've been in this thread for a while but people in here and there freak-outs are really starting to get to me. This is by no means my first election so I know this is good these things go but goddamn everyone's breakdowns are getting to me.

I think I might have to get out f this thread for like an hour or until the results are called.

No it's up 51 to 49. Only 8% reported so far. Google 2016 election results. Google will put a toolbar. Go to referendum. Select state. It shows the results of questions

The Boston Globe page actually breaks it down further. Larger districts are clearly showing a trend towards wanting it to pass. The podunk places are reporting first. Shrewsbury is 100% in, and against. They better be scared of when Worcesters results come in lol
