now things have sunk in and i know this isn't a bad dream and all... i just hope the markets don't tank. hope to god there isn't another recession. as somebody who works in trade and manufacturing my job is really sensitive to market trends. i just hope this shit somehow all works out, not to diminish the plight of minorities, LGBT, folks without healthcare, immigrants, list goes on and on. i understand there's so much more to lose here

Wow @GovGaryJohnson R U proud of ur accomplishments? Have U figured out where Aleppo is? I'm sure Trump's team sent you a map as a thank you

We are led by the least among us - the least intelligent, the least noble, the least visionary. We are led by the least among us and we do not fight back against the dehumanizing values that are handed down as control icons. - Terence Mckenna

I have felt concerned Terence's words apply to degrees, but tonight, they are diamond-like.

Fuck this country.

Well I was wrong, just like a lot of people. Obama had a lot of stuff locked down early in the election. (I think he projected to win before 8PM).

I really thought people would pick the experience candidate.

Glad I live in California.

I did not vote for Trump, but damn these tears are glorious!
Those tears are because a lot of social polices that brave people fought and died for could potentially be undone by a congress led by a president who isn't intelligent or empathetic enough to know why they even exist. This isn't a game.

"There’s going to be a lot of talk about white voters after the election, but looking at the exit polls, that’s not the full story. A big part of the story is that Clinton underperformed Obama with blacks and Hispanics. Clinton is winning only 88 percent of the black vote. Exit polls in 2012 had Obama at 93 percent. Clinton is only at 65 percent among Latinos. Obama won 71 percent of them."

That's actually pretty weird, considering Trump was more openly racist than Obama's opponents.

Chanting "Lock Her Up!" at the Trump HQ, so not only does she lose but she is going to prison as promised by the new President.

I was worried Hilary would lose against an average republican (such as Jeb) because she was a poisoned candidate in people's minds.
I never thought she was so poisoned she'd lose to Trump.

With senate and house control... God help us.

I don't understand why people claim Bernie would get creamed in the general election but Jeb Bush would win against Hillary. How is this argument being made? Jeb sucks...

President Trump guys.

Sexism yep
Racism yep
NATO fucked yep
Children of illegal immigrants living in anxiety and terrible fear? Yep
Half of a country screwing over minorities and the other half? Yep
People voting against their interests yep
Men can now grab married women and do what they want with them? Yep
More to come

All very disheartening.

Fun reminder:

A President Trump will have the nuclear launch codes.

No one has authority to overturn his command. Not even the joint chiefs of staff. Four minutes between the order and the launch.

He once asked four-star generals, "Well why can't we use nukes?"

Goodbye, world.

I can't tell if the nuclear war posts are hyperbole anymore. As much as a shit as Trump is he is not starting a nuclear war. At this point this level of hyperbole does more to hurt you as people get fed up listening to such rhetoric.

And that is coming from an anti-nuclear weapons campaigner that believes the UK should disarm, let alone America.

Truly amazing to see how wrong many GAF posters were about Hillary, to be swatting down concerns about her in each thread like it was irrational.

Well, guess what, America is not with her. :(

Fuck this country.

Funniest thing Ive seen tonight. Got me laughing.

Gonna say, GAF was real cocky about this Hillary stuff, mosh pitting anyone for "concern trolling" ganging up on anyone who said anything other than Hillary is going to win, the kind of thinking that brought this result, hand over the ear effect

Big surprise.

I was told hidden voters didn't exist.

So, basically, I was right to be skeptical because you should never underestimate people not voting, or the one's that do.

Yeah, I voted for him in the state of Florida and I'm glad I did. And I generally kept quiet about it because if we showed support for him we are immediately accused of being racist, sexist, or some other awful title even though we aren't. We are tired of the status quo and corruption in the US government. Trump isn't the ideal choice, but he is a whole hell of a lot better than Clinton and the status quo that the majority of America is tired of. #DrainTheSwamp #BuildThatWall

You may not see yourself as racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, etc but you voted for a man who is which makes you complicit. It tells me that you don't give a crap about the American people at large because Trump will only benefit the extremely wealthy white males.

Any chance sleeper Russian agents were told to go out and vote in masses?

That said, nearly everyone around me was saying way less people came out to vote. I think many Democratic supporters just figured no way Trump would win so why the fuck go out and vote, meanwhile Trump supporters really latched on to the idea that more than ever every vote will count as everyone and their pets will be out there voting against Trump.

Also, the media...oh the media, my goodness, they all but called this election weeks if not months ago which made many complacent.
