If God forbid another terrorist attack happens on American soil, we won't have Obama or bush coming out and defending Muslim American communities. We will be blamed not only by the mobs, but by the government as well. Do you have any idea how scary that is? The right wing has been wanting to shut down mosques and have Muslim wear special badges for years now. We have people protesting with guns outside. If he wants to pass an executive order to send us to internment camps or shut down our bank accounts or shut down our mosques or ban is from praying in public, there is nothing we can do, especially considering that he will have the majority of the country behind him.

Oh and forget about climate change legislation or gun control.

How easy is it for Americans to move to Canada in reality?

It's not easy at all. You either need to have a career in specialized fields or have a spouse who is Canadian. You also can get what's called a caretaker visa if you have family working there already, but you can't work for 2 years and can only work for a relative to help them take care of their family. It's used by a lot of immigrants who have children to bring extended family over.

I know all this because I'm probably one of the few people on GAF who has a possibility of actually moving to Canada. My wife is a Canadian permanent resident. She's also a US permanent resident. In retrospect, it's good that we never bought a new house because moving is a very real possibility all of a sudden.

You realize he's going to have a Republican House, a Republican Senate, and a conservative Supreme Court, yeah? Along with a majority of states with Republican government leadership. They same Republicans who have happily gone right along with and enabled this potential rise to power.
