Protests against Trump in NYC and other cities

Climate change, wtf? Have you seen our national debt? That's the real grim reaper that's coming for the US...

Do you understand what climate control is? It's threatening more than just the United States, and it's only going to approach more rapidly and severely under a Trump leadership.

Tell me your thoughts if it was the other way around. Would love to hear them. Honestly! Not to mock them but maybe I'm missing something.

If the Democratic elect had threatened to do JUST ONE of the following, I would condone demonstrations either way:

1. Kill the families of terrorists
2. Make sure the US Military will carry out war crimes
3. Jail their political opponent after a win
4. Implement Stop and Frisk nation wide
5. Ban an entire religion from entering the US
6. Create a registry of all members of one religion in the US
7. Repress freedom of speech, so the media could not talk too negatively about the elect
8. etc.

All of these things are unconstitutional and go against the very fabric of this nation. These are unacceptable positions, regardless of political affiliation.

Whoever threatens just one of these needs to be protested and chased out of the country.

This should have been done much earlier, when he secured the Republican candidacy. We all knew it was downhill from there.

Climate change, wtf? Have you seen our national debt? That's the real grim reaper that's coming for the US...

I don't think you know what climate change is, or how debt works. If you'd like to learn, I will spend hours with you on these topics. There are informational videos, books, and whole school classes (on economics on national levels) that will help us get through this!

Trump won, deal with it.

What exactly are they trying to achieve here? Democracy? Are these not the same people who say Trump is against it?

Yet again I am boggled and numbed by what I am seeing from Gaf.
"Go home" "Accept it" "Deal with it"
In 24 hours have people forgotten who this man is? What he has done? What he will do?
Who the core of his followers are?

People want change?
Both parties, the press, the current system and your neighbors and people around you have failed you.
They have failed freedom, they have failed minorities, they have failed decency.
The people have spoken, you are right.
They have said that it is ok to be a misogynistic racist. It is ok to objectify women. That woman's rights do not matter. That you can be a vile lying hate filled clown and win the highest office in the land and be celebrated.

Accept it? No

We didn't say shit because he didn't. You could've bothered and check wikipedia before shitposting.

Well maybe because I'm on my phone and was on this page. It was a legitimate question, I voted for Hilary and think the EC is antiquated so maybe you should slow your roll before you accuse someone of shit posting.

I'm not either so I'm not sure why you keep trying to personally insult me after being wrong and doubling down. Rather pathetic no? 😉

My mistake then, I apologize.

But answer this: can the US really just reverse the result of the election so easily? If it can, then what's the whole point of actually doing the election in the first place?

Ah yes democracy at its best. Pure salt from the Clinton camp.

Trump won, deal with it.

They are dealing with it.

I love that our country can have these types of protests. There isn't a single American who should take issue with this, regardless of who you supported last night.

i'm not American

but i don't think the Rs ever win the popular vote, ever? maybe Reagan?

....come on now.

We've had 58 Presidential elections and this has happened five times.

Trump won, deal with it.

What exactly are they trying to achieve here. Democracy? This is from the same people who says Trump is against it.

People are exercising their right to protest a President-Elect who won without the majority vote of the populace. Sounds pretty democratic to me, actually.

Disappointed at all the protests won't change nothing type statements here. People need some serious education and foresight on how powerful a movement this CAN be. But for it to gain traction people need to get on board, and they need to believe that they can make change happen. If you are grasping for that change to come through the political process, I'm sorry to tell you that that's the exact same reasoning that has got us to this exact point and allowed someone like Trump to gain the Presidency. That allowed corporations to control the very political parties that we THINK we can control with our measly 1 vote once every 4 years. The system is fucked and it doesn't work without ACTIVE ENGAGEMENT.

Does anyone think the Civil Rights Movement makes a change if people said on day one "NAHHH we can't do anything about it so why try." The movement lasted 12 YEARS. 12 YEARS of continued non violent protest and civil disobedience. But at the end of it all changes were MADE.

LET YOUR OUTRAGE BE FELT. THERE ARE FUNDAMENTAL AND SYSTEMIC THINGS WRONG WITH THE POLITICAL SYSTEM. YOU KNOW IT. NOW LET THOSE IN POWER KNOW THAT YOU KNOW. UNTIL THEY HAVE NO CHOICE TO IGNORE IT.

There is nothing to protest quite honestly. The one genuine way to stop trump has passed yesterday. Those 46% of eligible voters are to blame. The republicans actually didn't get any new voters. It's the democrats who lost more than 6 million voters.

I think its naive to think the country would be undivided after the election.
America has a serious problem in identity and discontent. This is just a symptom.

If Trump's outrageous promises don't come to pass, that discontent might just grow outside the 51%.
And i don't think we've heard the last of the rising tensions between Leftland and Rightland.

You mean people are angry that an absolutely terrible human being got elected?Shocking. So long as it's peaceful it's fine. Let them vent.

You're confuse.

Under the proportional system a CA voter have the exact same worth as a PA voter. Under current system, the vote of a PA voter worths more than one of a CA voter.

No I am not. In their own states their votes are equal. And each state gets votes based on the population. What everyone here wants is for lower population areas to get less say in politics which will just further fuel the inequality that already exists in the country. Again why should a high population state get so much more control over the government. If we wanted to fix things more liberal voters in a CA should move east. It would spread some of the wealth around as well.

For those having trouble with the word protest, change it to demonstrate. They are demonstrating their dislike for the president elect.

How about where people living having nothing to do with who rules over them? Winning only California and New York would not win it for the candidate anyway.

It skews the result, two cities can influence a country the size of a continent.

I can understand its upsetting for those who didn't get the result but I don't remember such distain for the EC before the result, "its part of US voting" for anyone who asked, "it's how we do things" in almost smug fashion but it's gone tits up now.

If the EC is such a problem then grave importance of democratic right should've seen it abolished before the election but then people want a safe guard and valued the fairness of the landmass.

Rules of the game were known. You can't come and say we would've won if we had 4 points for a field goal and change it after the fact. the game is played knowing those rules. Campaigns and voting is done with those rules in place. Take them away you might have different campaigns, maybe even more republicans come out. Increase more points for field goal and the players would play a different game.

Fuck the apologists and rationalizations. You are nothing but enablers. You don't give a shit about this country and its constitution.

Now is not the time to protest. Trump won.

When he tries to do something damaging to the country that will be the time to protest. Pick your battles.

Did they really need to protest to show this? Pretty sure, the 59,881,000 votes for Clinton already has.
You're god damned right they do. Visibility is everything.

You want to know why GAF were so collectively shocked and fell to pieces as the results came rolling in? Because we don't understand the simple fact that most people don't exist in our bubble. Same thing with social media. I guarantee a very large percentage of voters haven't seen a fraction of the horrible things you or I have read about Trump. But they've seen him, up there on stage kicking ass and taking names.

It's definitely inspired me to get up from this depression and attend local Dem meetings so I can help out and try to fight back in 2018.
That's the spirit!

Climate change, wtf? Have you seen our national debt? That's the real grim reaper that's coming for the US...

Yeah. The treasury shows the tally from the first fiscal year to 2016 for no additional charge 24/7. Grim reapers come for people. Not financial instruments of a gov't.
