Pokémon Sun & Moon |OT| Ultra Beasts and where to find them

So how does this game handle getting Hidden Abilities Pokemon?

Friend Safari and Hordes were not a great solution IMO.

ORAS did it much better.

SOS chaining. It's a pain.

trying to catch a mareanie in melemele sea right now

it's super frustrating lol

You're getting a Corsola from the special bubbling spot right? A Corsola from there has a 20% chance of calling one in for help instead of a 1% chance.

Btw when i can catch wimpod?
I am just after Lana trial

there's one on route 8 down by the water, you can chase it and corner it into a battle

yeah, it's a pain even trying to get corsola lol

Kind of asked this before, but does anyone know why my stalls are closed in Festival Plaza? I haven't participated in any of them at all today, and they keep telling me to "come again tomorrow."
Are you playing on a different system? If you change the time (which playing on another system would do) it tends to lock you out of daily things for at least a day.

Yeah, the Marowak situation is like your Charjabug situation. I hate having things held off soooo late into the game. I love having my team with a decent moveset at least someone earlier than that. But unfortunately, I'm having to use pretty lame moves on my Marowak because it just can't get anything else until later.
That level up table is a troll. Shadow Bone should be a learns on evolution move (you know like stupid Kinesis on Kadabra) rather than being one level before you can actually evolve.

No wonder I thought the fight was easy. The one I fought only called in a weaker Wishiwashi. I just left it alone and took out the Totem while keeping up Light Screen with Magnemite. The little Wishiwashi was practically useless. An Alomomola definitely could have caused problems.
From what I've seen of Totem fights it seems like first helper is not bad but can be annoying (that wishiwashi has helping hand for example) and the second one is that watch out moment (in this case Alomomola). Maybe it is discourage using them as a grinding spot or something.

Likewise the Jungle Trial on second island
has the annoying bird with supersonic but knocking that out could give you a castform bringing the sun
.

The main point of
Sunny Day
is to insta-charge
Solar Blade
so it can spam that move every turn.

Incidentally that move absolutely tanks the framerate on an original 3DS.

Funny enough, it only used that move once against me.

On another note, double battles DESTROY the frame rate on OG 3DS. It's insane

The game was clearly not designed for use without the exp share lol. I've battled every trainer possible so far and a good deal of wild Pokemon in between and this Hau fucker has his whole team five levels ahead of mine and the gap just keeps widening

But judging from the comments in this thread, using the exp share just leaves you ridiculously overleveled. I'm not really sure what GameFreak was going for here

I'm overleveled and I never used the co share. I feel like most of us here don't

I think they meant for you to have EXP share on and to constantly be changing your team.

It depends on how completionist you are and how much you change your team around. I got to 3rd island Hau with a team of six lv25-27 Pokemon without EXP share.

Team update before
going into the beast world
Socket/Magnezone 48
Vice/Vikavolt 46
Zephyr/Decidueye 50
Sassy/Salazzle 45
Horseshoe/Golisopod 50
Tooky Tooky/Toucannon 45

I was tempted to put Jangmo-o on, but this team has put in work for me throughout the entire game. They deserve to be there tell the end.

I just got to the ranch on the second island and GOOD GOD I'm so sick of talking to NPCs. I honestly hate this game so far. I think I might have finally outgrown Pokémon or something, I don't know.

4.5 hours trying to get a stupid shiny Zubat. Had to plug in my 3ds because the low battery light started flashing. It still takes this long? Really? I've lost count of how many of these things I've taken out now. All my Pokémon have gone up like five levels in this battle alone.

I'm almost out of PP on all my guys and have expended my entire supply of potions, berries, and ethers.

I really want to use that Gosiopod thing. Maybe I will in Sun. Although his ability seems like it would be horribly annoying.

I think bug, electric and ghosts got it best this generation it seems. Not crazy about most grass mons because they're all pink as hell, luckily Rowlett line rules.

Just beat Lusamine 2. I had no poison or steel moves so I spent 5 attempts dying to her fucking Clefable which I just could not kill. I only managed to beat her because my boosted Minior got a crit Stone Edge. Without the crit I was planning on using a boosted self destruct but I don't even know if it'd be enough, that thing is INSANELY tanky.

After that, I self destructed on her Milotic which could've been an issue for my team and the rest of her team wasn't that bad. Her Mismagius and Bewear kept spamming Pain Split for some reason though, making the end a bit anticlimactic.

Still, a pretty tough fight by evil team leader standards what with 5 totem-boosted mons. I'd say she's 3rd toughest after Ghetsis in BW and Ghetsis in BW2. Would've liked to see her have a Ultra Beast as a 6th pokemon though. And I was hoping Ultra Space would be much more expansive like the Distortion World in Platinum. Maybe in Star.

Also, caught Lunala in my first quick ball lol.

im pretty sure my team is overleveled tbh

most of my pokemon are 27 - 28 and i'm about to fight olivia

also gamefreak made it really hard to choose b/w water types in this game...not sure if i want to use wishiwashi, wimpod, or mareanie lol

The correct answer for what water type you should use is Araquanid.

Of the three you listed I would go with Mareanie.

Sometimes it is. But it can be helpful in others. At least you can choose what Pokémon you want to replace with. The thing is a beast other wise. Plus it looks badass.

A little bit overlevelled but probably fine for the next island.

How do you get a kitchen on the Festival Plaza? Is it obtainable through ranks or do I need to do some mission?

Also, in order to get Sylveon, do you pretty much have to max its affection like in X/Y, correct?

oh yeah i forgot about this guy, he's really cool too :/

mareanie is in my party right now, but i also really want to use wimpod, but i would probably box my ribombe if i used wimpod, but ribombe is putting in work

i'll use the mareanie i think, yeah

Just two stars. It's a cinch (also keep Baby-Doll Eyes to evolve).

Ya I dunno I guess I don't mind the cutscenes at all. The presentation of this game is so far ahead of what Pokemon has been it feels like a further evolution of going on an adventure with your friends like in XY.
The presentation is top-notch, that I can't argue. And when the game lets me play I do have a lot of fun, because at its core it's a really good game, but it tries to stop me all the time. In fact, I just
got the Lapras ride
on the second island, and when I tried to explore a little lake the captain stopped me and told me I needed to finish a story mission first. I seriously can't remember the previous games being like this, this is crazy!

Where is the rock to evolve to Vikavolt, also when/where can I get a Weedle for my one of my favorites Beedrill?

Only on the second island but curious.

RNG is RNG. I've seen people mention they got shinies in 15 chains, and others say it took 100 chains.

Just landed on the fourth island and this is my party.

T-Bone/Incineroar Lv 49
Rainbowpride/Alolan Muk Lv 48
Fruityloops/Toucannon Lv 48
Isopod/Golispod Lv 47
Araquanid Lv 51
Gattack/Charjabug Lv 48

As you can see i have a ton of bugs and a nasty Rock weakness but I really dont want to get rid of anyone. They have all performed well and won critical battles.

It's RNG. It took me 3 hours to get a shiny Rockruff.

Is it me or are these trainers spouting off more wacko stuff than previous gens? I'm surprised at how much I'm laughing while playing.

Do we know how each chain improves the chances of getting a shiny? I lost count after 40 or so. I don't have any idea how many I'm at now. Pretty soon I'm going to have to rely on struggle.

I feel like I've invested so much time into this now that I can't stop unless I catch one. But I don't know if it will be possible... my only attacking moves left will OHKO any Zubats that appear. I'll have to keep switching out Pokémon and hope the enemy decides to call for reinforcements without being damaged.
