Pokémon Sun & Moon |OT| Ultra Beasts and where to find them

Am I the only one, who's finding that Serebii is having major problems (endless connection reset errors at random times) or is the site just really overloaded since release ?

I catch Pokemon to fill up my slave labor camps.

Those shards aren't going to mine themselves. Those berries aren't going to plant themselves.

99% of the Pokemon I catch or hatch goes straight to the labor camps. The pure 1% of genetically perfect well-natured talented individuals have the privileged of being used to construct my many teams, until they are also discarded for better models.

Some are sold off to be breeding stock for other slave masters. The life of a Pokemon is though shit. Hell the wonder traded failures are the lucky ones.

I'm so looking forward to breeding. Need to get myself a good Ditto first and catch all the new mons in luxury balls

Males can only pass down their ball when bred with Ditto, right?

great game so far. finally caught some more pokemon for my team.

dartrix
stuffle
araquanid
lycanroc
salandit

not sure about salandit though. does she get better? she usually gets 2HKO =(

thinking about a marowak to replace her but apparently it doesn't get good moves until the end of the game?

I will admit, though, that I was pretty pissed that there wasn't any dialogue or anything to indicate that only female Salandits evolve. I got a male one all the way to 33, and was confused why it didn't evolve. Had to go back and start from scratch with a female.

While I wouldn't say I played the same way, I did try to catch everything I came across, I just didn't really ever dig for the hard-to-find stuff that I didn't intend on using. I feel similarly, my fianceé and I were talking last night about how this is the first time we both feel really compelled to finish up the Pokedex once we get to the post game, and discussing strategies on how we could work together to do it haha.

I onyl catch Pokemon to build my team then just catch specfic request from people Pokemon. Maybe I'm playing the pokemon games wrong because my way is the opposite of catch them all.

Combee was the same in Gen IV IIRC.

This game is seriously the best Pokemon game since the original Ruby/Sapphire.

Almost done with the second island I absolutely love it. Running a full team of new mons and I love all of them...

Love how varied the routes are now, and lots of little side things to do along the way too.

Gamefreak on point.

Current team. Just beat Olivia on the second island.

I'll go with ever. Finally gone the grid world design and you don't go through 5 buttons to throw a pokeball. Streamline the Amie, visible status effects, removal of HM, More character customization, Type effectiveness indicator, removal of gyms and more. This is a gigantic jump for the series.

Visible status effects?

This game has the best mechanics, but the worst plot and extremely slow pacing.

I hope one day theses games become less linear.

how long until I can get mimikyu :D? Just on my way to the first challenge and visited the graveyard

About 10-15 more hours. Might want to get one from a trade.

Amazon.ca shipped out my S&M Dual Pack Steelbook! Should get it on Wednesday. Also, ordered a 3DS Mimikkyu/Pikachu case from amazon.jp which should arrive on Thursday. It'll all go with the Hori Gold Pikachu 3DS cover I also bought... Damn, Nintendo took all my money!

I think I'm going to start the game completely over from scratch. No OP pokebank pokes. Gunna spend 1000hrs catching them all again.

Right. I don't mind that mechanic itself, but I would've appreciated some dialogue, even if just from some rando in a Pokemon Center, to indicate that this was how it worked before I had raised up a male one, haha.

I believe you can test with Eviolite , pokemon that can't evolve won't get the boost, but no one is going to test every pokemon like that.

yeah I would have been annoyed if I hadn't seen that on bulbapedia

I spent roughly 2 hours at the beginning of route 1 last night looking for a Pichu. I finally find & catch one, only to progress further into route 1 and now I find the damn things EVERYWHERE. Do 'mons become more common once you catch them?

Is there a point/certain level where Pichu won't evolve into Pikachu anymore? Or is evolving solely based on Pichus happiness?

100, technically. But no, you're fine with it evolving at any level.

Do we have specific numbers for how much refresh increases experience? Or how shiny ratios improve by chaining?

Man, I'm currently playing both the Battlespot singles and Smogon OU Alolan dex only metas on Showdown to try strats out, and it has got to be the most boring shit ever. Everything is so fucking slow, but very few have the bulk to actually take hits before getting a chance to attack, and thus the Ultra Beasts and Tapus (except Fini) dominate.

Fucking Phermosa lmao, if I see her on one more team I'm going to kill myself.

Only way you'd be locked out is if you leveled it all the way to 100 without evolving it

Every main Pokemon is both the best and worst Pokemon game ever.

Pro tip for festival plaza. Best way is to set in your responses that you're always up for missions, go online, join in other people's missions, and watch the fc roll in
Wait, communication is opt-in here? I'm sure it was opt-out in Gen VI...then again being bombarded with trade and battle requests drew tiring.

That or female of the same species (which is 50-50). That means for example once bank comes out we can have Gen II and V starters in with their HA and not inside a Pokeball.

Combee was the same in Gen IV IIRC.
I recently watched this.
They did get a female in the end

Geeez the whole calling for help/SOS thing wild Pokemon can do is pretty grating. The Adrenaline Orb does help increase the odds of them calling for help quite a bit, but there's still the randomness of the "help" actually showing up or not which is the most annoying part for me. I feel if they're going to call for help, it should always be successful cause otherwise they wouldn't call in the first place.

Has anyone noticed that the pokeball behind the "Pokemon" option in the menu turns green sometimes? What's the cause for that?

I'm running an in college tourney a couple weeks from now and all ultra beasts and tapu are banned until further notice. I want to see some uu and bl stuff mixed with prebank ou mons. Not ultra beasts and tapu leLe numbers 244245.

turning exp share makes no sense. So if you turn it off you get the same amount of exp as you did with it on without the share??

So if you don't use it your pokemon will be severely under-leveled? Is this the "challenge mode" +Set as opposed to Shift? I don't use shift anyways

Yeah, I use Set to give myself an extra challenge, but turning off EXP share seems stupid. It just means you need to do a lot more grinding. I don't think of grinding as increasing difficulty, just increasing the amount of time I waste.

I'm playing gen 7 ou Showdown too, only using regular gen 7 mons and beating tapus and ultra beasts. Its not that bad at all

You could get away with allowing Tapu Fini since she isn't as good as the others due to everyone running Hyper Offense at the moment and not using status moves much, but yeah, the other Tapus can fuck off, espeically Tapu "All I do is spam Wood hammer" Bulu.

Also, Zygarde, that Rest + Sleep talk + Coil + Thousand arrows combo lmao.

Arceus help you if you try to catch a Salandit or get into a drawn out battle with one in a Nuzlocke. Friggin Dragon Rage man.

On the positive side, a female one showed up quickly for me. I'm debating whether to use her or Grimer. They both seem very useful in-game. I'll leaning Salandit since my team lacks a fast Special attacker, and because I want to use more new Pokémon.

Eh, that's not really how it works. The problem with exp share is that if you fight all the trainers, you never need to grind. Thus exp share distributes th experience one mon would've gotten to all the mons in your party. Once everyone is getting all the experience, your party will become severely over leveled, because the game is not balanced around the exp share. It's nice if you have a new pokemon you need to train up, but otherwise it's just a crutch.

It has terrible defenses...doesn't last too long in battle for me lol

The game seems decently balanced for EXP Share

I've had it on the entire game, and ran into serious issues in the ghost trial.
