Buying a 4K TV for PS4K thread!

My search for a good 4K TV is finally at an end. I just managed to snag a Samsung 65KS7090 (8000 in the US) for 1599€ + free Galaxy S7 after registering it with Samsung. After selling the phone the total price will come out at about 1200€.

To everyone in Germany who's still looking: check mydealz and your local Saturn/Media Markt leaflets!

Makes it easier to return things since they unpack it for you so you can visually inspect it before they leave just in case you get a dud. What I would do is buy the same model at a retail store and then return the EPP shipment to the retailer.

I would think most retailers make the serial number on receipt. Heck I think even my PS4 Pro had the serial number on my receipt.

Ugh. My ks8000 has an issue with the backlight. There are 2 small cones of light emanating from the lower right side. It's not noticeable on bright full screen images but very distracting when black or dark images are displayed. I didn't even notice until playing a bluray with a different aspect ratio.

Has anyone dealt with Samsung on an exchange?

That's one of the common issues with edge lighting.

I do it all the time at Costco, I buy something, 30 days later it gets a price drop. Go in with my old receipt, buy said item again, then straight to customer service to return with my old receipt.

hey, ks8000 owners, would you do me a favor? how far apart are the little feet on the tv. i'm afraid my tv stand isn't wide enough for the tv (have a 46 inch on it now but it has a central post type stand instead of two legs spread apart). i'm just about to order me one but i was told by the boss if it won't fit on the tv stand we are not buying a stand and a tv. i think i'm screwed

edit: sorry forgot to say i'm talking about the 55. i see where the tv is 48.2 inches wide which is cool but just how close to the edge are the legs at their widest? i have a tv stand that is 43.5 inches wide. i think i'm screwed. and my stand is one of the only ones i could find (without spending outrageous money on a salamander) that would fit my zvox soundbar (one of the old big ones).

Same question but for the 60 inch. If someone could measure the length of the legs I would appreciate it.

For the 55"...

44.1" x 9.1"

Whereas the 65" can have the feet be closer together in middle for a 39" position. It is a dumb move by Samsung. Almost all Sony stands are middle based because they found people were having issues with wide feet for stands.

i found it for the 55 inch, not sure about the 60, but some sites say the 60 and 65 have an alternate middle stand position.

the width of the feet on the 55 is 44.1 inches. no tv for me. someone cutting onions in here?

well, now i have to work on the boss to get the 60 inch or the 55 ks9000 due to the middle stand options. wish me luck gaf

edit: beaten by the nice poster above me, thanks.

My homemade stand was built to accomodate the legs from a 55 inch Samsung LED, so it should be able to hold a 60 inch without adjustment, right?

alright, guys, with minimal deception (don't ask), i have explained that the cost of a ks9000 55 is pretty close to the cost of a 55 ks8000 and a new tv stand. this shit may work. i will feel guilty for years (i'm catholic, i do guilt like no one else) but i will forget it when watching the glorious ks9000. what do you think guys?

Wait what? So the 65" TV will fit on my 44" TV stand? If that 39" is true. That's going save me $200 or so for the stand.

After spending a lot of time on my new LG UH6030, I am really, really impressed. Final Fantasy XV looks AMAZING, BF1 looks phenomenal, Ratcher & Clank in HDR looks stunning and vibrant, Killing Floor 2 is tack-sharp and Bound is breathtaking. I am in love with 4K!

Ok , which to pick?

P65 C1 , M70 D3 , M65 D0 or the E70 E3?

All vizio's.

pls advise and why if possible. Thanks

If you're planning to watch a lot of movies on it too, then I would go with the P-Series. If mostly gaming and there is a decent price difference, then the M-Series would probably be good enough. I would stay away from the E-Series if at all possible.

damn. the dream is slipping away. it went from "let me think about it to why don't we wait til next christmas". thanks samsung. nice leg design assholes. is a simple central post design too much to ask for. and before someone says go sony or vizio or whatever, nope, samsung or bust for me. love my current one way too much. plus i have mine calibrated and figure most of the settings can just transfer over. well, i'm going to keep working on it but it ain't looking good guys and gals. if there is a collective gaf prayer that can be said (who am i kidding right?, this is gaf) do it.

All of those worries go away if you join wallmount GAF.

Lose the furniture, embrace the future. :P

Now that I have the TV I'd love to get into the 4k moive business, that's for sure not coming with the Pro? Is there a small cheap blu ray player that plays 4k? Should I just get a One S?

nope, boss nixed that idea. however, the dream is alive and well. i was approved for the amazon store card and got 24 months interest free. i did this with the tv i have now (with a different store) and it worked out well. the boss was ok with it as long as i got approved (she didn't think i would since i had a bankruptcy due to cancer several years back, apparently enough years that it didn't matter). the ks9000 is scheduled for delivery on 12/09. happy dances all around folks. it's going to be a happy xmas in the legbone household. now, how to figure out sneaking a ps4 pro and a scorpio into the house without her noticing. lol.

You can buy vesa mounts that have pedestal stands to swap out the wide legs and give you a central 'foot'

Ok tactics needed..

I ordered a Sony 55xd93 from richer sounds and it came in on Wednesday. I confirmed over the phone that it came with the free soundbar and was £1499.

They have a Black Friday guarantee that if they drop prices they'll refund the difference. On their site they have the same set for £1399 - but no sound bar.

So as a minimum they should price match £1399, I'd be ok with that. But in theory shouldn't they drop the price of the TV I ordered to £1399, including the free sound bar? It was a 'free' one, not a discounted bundle. Just wondering if it's worth pushing for

Hhgregg has the ku6290 and ku6300 40 inch like 50 dollars cheaper with the promo code BLACKFRIDAY. Not sure if it's available yet or have to wait until Friday. $255 for the 6290 or $300 for the 6300 might finally get me to bite. Gonna check again later tonight or tomorrow and try and do an in store pickup

So is $1200 the cheapest people have been seeing for the 60'' KS8000? I have a PerksAtWork account but the same price seems to be the same through Samsung's website.

Pretty sure through the EPP program it's $854.99. This is what I saw listed just now.

Is the Samsung 4K 50kU6000 a good TV for gaming? I found an amazing deal.

I saw it is a good TV, and the KU6000 series has a good input lag.
I don't care about the smart TV functions, but, I saw it "doesn't have fulll HDR", what ever it means.

If I bought a 4K TV I wouldn't buy another one for a loooooong time.

sounds like what they call flashlighting. i had the same issue with a samsung set i bought several years ago. they worked with me well and sent replacements, but they never sent me one that completely got rid of it. the third one they sent finally only had a very little bit in one corner. it was acceptible but not perfect. no panel is perfect. but some are damn close. it was a real hassle, and to be honest i thought they had solved this problem. you may have just gotten a rare bum one. call them immediately. and now that you bring this up, i was just about to pull the trigger on a ks8000 but you have me second guessing it. i don't want to go through that again.

edit: and the only reason i kept the one with minimal flashlighting was because you really couldn't notice it when i played games in game mode. otherwise it was annoying but eventually i just kind of stopped noticing it. now the same tv has a large wavy line/discoloration that looks like a water spot (it's very old now) so it's driving me nuts and i'm champing at the bit to pull the trigger on the ks8000 that is in my amazon cart right this minute. sorry, i like to help but i wish i had never seen your post.

The KS8000 I got through the EPP deal has very minor flashlighting in the top right hand corner and I don't even care. These panels are never perfect. I will keep it with no regrets.

EDIT: Also since the KS8000 does some local dimming, dark scenes where the flashlighting would be noticeable often get dimmed anyway making it even more of a non issue.

I own the 40" version, and I love it.

Outside of OLED, looks like Samsung is the way to go.

The turmoil within me is brutal.

Wait till you see a Sony Z9D. I would probably purchase that right now over a B6 OLED. The brightness and HDR effects is absolutely insane. The whole tv designed so unique.

Is there a HUGE noticable difference between the Samsung KU6300 & KU7000?

Spec wise, identical except the color tech. 6300 has pur color and 7000 has Active Crystal Clear (something like that). Will it make a drastic difference?

How is the Samsung UN49KS8000? It is the only one in this series that is discounted on Amazon right now.

I will use it on a desk, so the size will be good enough. How is the refresh rate for gaming, and does it have considerable limitations compared to the 60" model?

Does anyone here own the Samsung KU6290 or KU6300?

I have the 40" KU6290 and it has horrible motion blur. It does not look much worse than most TVs when playing modern games.

But, when I play the NES Mini, it is one of the worst LCD TVs I have ever seen in terms of motion blur. Super Mario 3 really highlights this. The blocks leave trails when the screen scrolls. When you jump, Mario leaves a trail of ghost Marios.

I have tried different HDMI cables/inputs. I also ran Super Mario 3 on an emulator to make sure the NES Mini was not the problem. The results were the same.

Yea the Z9D is a beautiful machine, it truly is. I saw it at PC Richards and the set was magnificent. They had the Vegas reel demo playing, but sadly that set is completely out of my price range at $5K and the input lag is kinda high 45 millisecs
