They should get rid of Jean Grey Phoenix and put in Cylops Phoenix (and Dark) from the Avengers vs Xmen story.

Now, THAT would be an interesting twist on bringing Cyclops back and not just dredging up that Xmen:COTA moveset. Plus, if there was any semblance of story/lore to be had, it'd be funny to see what Ryu would think of this new development in his old pal from the Xmen vs. SF days going to this extreme.

Lol i just think Capcom has by far the most wiggle room wrt who they can kick out and who they can bring back in.

For the Marvel side a lot of those characters *have* to be in the game given how strict Marvel is with which characters get representation outside of the MCU.

I get wanting variety but I don't think that big of a change is something that you should expect. At the end of the day MvC is still a fighter and many people like their characters and want them in. So Capcom can't just up and remove like 3/4 of a side and replace it with newcomers.

Though I got into this series with MvC3 so I might not know what I'm talking about and Capcom might've done something similar in the past. In that case, completely disregard what I just said :)

Phoenix Cyclops vs Evil Ryu.

Get weird with the story.

Changeover was something that people reasonably expected going from MvC2 -> 3, regardless of the fact that the game was abandoning sprites. A lot of the characters from 2 were either a) not relevant to either company's current marketing focus or b) were not going to be easily rendered with the previous generation's hardware limitations (see: Venom and his complex morphing animations, whether they used Brock or Flash).

With a (possible) 4, we're probably going to have a decent bit of refreshing on the roster again, because the game will be starting from scratch and all assets will be created from the ground up. I mean, unless Capcom wants to surprise us and turns out to be fine with still working with an upgraded MT Framework engine so that they can just focus on adding new content and just touching up the older assets.

Hell, why not?

Also make it a gameplay mechanic where both of them are doing their best to keep their "SUPERPOWERED EVIL SIDES" in check, so that Ryu can have access to Evil Ryu, and, ideally, make it so you don't have to Akuma there too, on the same token.

Throw some not-so popular Marvel characters in the mix man. Maybe Annihilus, Quasar, The Uranian, The Ufoes. Magik would also be a great replacement for X-23.

I don't get how anyone can make roster lists or act like the game is coming. Out when it isn't even confirmed that the game exists.

I don't know about the others, but I usually say "assuming that MvC4 is even happening" or "if MvC4 is happening at all" during most of my speculative posts.

But in general, we're getting hype.

For the roster, I'm just not going to invest myself into that aspect of the game and just play who ever makes it in.

I have already come to terms with the fact that no one I want in is going to make it, and the characters I really liked in 3 are all probably going to get cut.

I'll just find new characters I like.

I see. So this has a precedent in the series. Though I wanted to mention the possibility of Capcom using MT and old assets again, but you did it yourself. Yeah, I can actually see that happening you know. If the game is truly coming out in 2017 then I can see them using MT and MvC3 assets in order to shorten the dev time.

All I want is Lady over Trish. Capcom pls

Man, what you really want is DMC5. Like we all do.

Maybe I'm easy to please, but I enjoyed pretty much every MCU movie/show. DC movies on the other hand...

The MCU movies are great but because of the whole licensing BS, the never reach the same level of potential that the comics have. I'm not going to go too far into it but Civil War the movie stopped being Civil War (or relating to the comics) after about half way through the movie. It couldn't have big moments involving the villians (and The Punisher) or that big Spiderman scene from the comic or just the fact that the characters are interacting with each as if they had known each other for years or how the comic opens with super heroes misusing their powers compared to film.

The comic book characters interact with each other on more natural and personal level which the movies don't really have. There's nothing really wrong with the MCU either. It's great set of films and I compare it to people like me; people who enjoyed reading comics but really got into them in 2000 when the ultimate series started so a younger audience can get into comics. The same be said for films. It's a new universe for a new audience to get into comics or at least the characters. But as I said, none of the movies have the same level of impact due to certain characters not being allowed to appear.

Yes to the bolded. Would looooove to see Magik in particular.

Thank you for explanation Bumblebee.

Yeah, I can understand that and as you said I don't think it's really the fault of creators or writers and such. Even if we put the licensing stuff aside, movies are much more expensive to make and have limited time so you can't really put everything that you want in them. As a fan of MCU, I fully understand that I'm getting the inferior (in regards to depth of characters and storyline) experience with these movies but I still love them for what they are.

I just hope that more people would see these movies as their own things and stopped comparing them to the comics. (which will never happen)

Eventhubs having shoddy reporting practices isn't suspicious, it's a given.

Yeah I can personally vouch for this.

When I had the file containing the names of the 6 Street Fighter V DLC characters- I sent the info directly to them as I was posting it up here on GAF. They chose not to do anything with the info and only ran a story days later when practically every site out there already ran it and never even acknowledged I reported the info to them directly.

It's not like they didn't know who I was... I used the same name and email that I had used to send them all the on disc SFxT DLC- I even reminded them that's who I was in the email.

To say their "reporters" are shoddy is an understatement...

I can't do this Lupinko teasing shit all over again

Have we all forgotten so quickly how far south it went last time when people got caught up in what clue was alluding to who?

Would love a new MvC. I hope they keep Frank West and Vergil. I know they're not cutting Doom.

New characters I'd like to see are

Carnage or maybe Hobgoblin. Loki would be cool.

That's all I got.
Edit: Ohh maybe Starlord or Gamora.

This thread man...

What is it about these gamea? They arent the best playing, or the best looking, but the hype around them and in tournaments is always unmatched. I probably dont even want to play a new MvC, but I sure as fuck want to watch a new MvC. Please be real.

I miss the early streams with end and the road to evo when mvc3 came out.

Also tokido beating Justin at CEO.

They're fun. I know it's hard to lose sight of that during discussions about these products, but people like seeing over the top crazy shit on screen.

So many good ideas for skins too.

I only need 1 outfit

The Marvel Vs series was a big part of my childhood. Even when I had these games to play on console, I would still go out and play them on the Arcade cabinet because of the amount of hype it generated. There would always be crowds surrounding MVC2 on Friday nights.

This will forever be my fav fighting game series.

If I am interpreting Lupinko's tweets correctly, it looks like he's confirming characters from the following franchises:

Mighty Ducks
Simpson's
Justice League
Aladdin
Pokemon
Carzillas

I, for one, am HYPED.
