I can absolutely still get a new look at the game and understand it isn't finished. I guess movie trailers shouldn't have unfinished CGI even though most of the polish comes at the end.

they can, but people can also make judgements on what they see, especially in what is essentially a glorified commercial. Not everybody is going to (nor should they, necessarily) just assume that what they see will look better when the product is released.
