US PSN Holiday Sale Week 3 (12/20/2016 - 12/26/2016)

As a non-Star Wars fan, might Battlefront interest me? I'm interested in trying the VR mission but I don't want to buy the game just for that. I'm picturing it as kind of a Halo meets Dynasty Warriors?

If I do buy it should I go basic or get the deluxe edition?

Thanks in advance for the advice!

It's basically a dumbed-down Battlefield with a Star Wars skin. If you don't like Star Wars there's really no reason to jump in. :p

Can't buy FFXlV with the DLCs cause I already own it... can't buy DLC cause I don't don't own FFXIV

What?

Battlefront is a MP competitive team-based shooter. There is no single player campaign(outside of brief mission trials) and much of the appeal lies in its license.

If you aren't into Star Wars to begin with, I'm not even certain paying the money for the 10-minute VR mission alone is worth it either. Much of that appeal is getting behind an X-wing and taking on a star destroyer, enjoyable on its own but very brief.

Makes sense, thanks folks. Saving myself $10!

So tempting to splurge on Battlefront and the season pass... Rogue One got me itching for some Star Wars.

Also, FFXIV is listed as unavailable because I 'already own the game' according to the store. All I did was play a free weekend or something like that, I've never purchased the game, but since it's in my library I can't buy it or Heavensward. I wasn't really planning on it so it's not that big of a deal, but if I had planned on buying it it would have been infuriating.

Same issue here, but I was planning on buying it.

Just got Minecraft Story Mode for $11,99. Pretty great deal for 8 episodes.

I'm a huge fan of Telltale and Minecraft was the only one I was missing out. I just finished Episode 1 and I loved it. It has that Borderlands comic vibe that was so great on Tales. I personally never played the original Minecraft and I don't plan too but the story Telltale created is really compeling. Can't wait to play the rest.

Go Order of The Pig!

Was just about to ask about this one. Guess I'll go ahead and pick it up.

So Bloodborne is on sale but the dlc is full price? Welp, no dlc for me then *shrug*

Still have the game to playthrough at least.

Had $10 from that recent thank you promo, so I picked up A Realm Reborn for free. I dabbled with this very briefly on PC last year, but after enjoying FF15 so much, I think I'm going to try to get back into this. Feels great to be loving FF again!

FFXIV ARR may actually still be in your PS4 library ready to download from the trial. It may just force you to log-onto the mognet website and purchase a license seeing as you already have access to the game via PSN. Check your game library and see if it is listed and allows you to download the client.

Can't recommend Hitman and Bloodborne enough.

Re-post from the Week 2 thread:

Does FFXIV have dedicated healer classes? Are the Collector's Editions worth it?

It's really the only thing I have my eye on and probably shouldn't due to my backlog.

Picked up both Shantae games on sale as I just finished Half Genie Hero and quite enjoyed it, but had never played the others.

Contemplating Bloodborne, but may just wait.

Does FFXIV include a free one month online pass?

Wow that Bloodborne. I like having a physical copy but at that price I may just return the one I got on Black Friday and buy it digital.

It has a couple of dedicated (that I know) healers with White Mage which cure bombs and Scholar which heals/buffs over time. both classes can (and do) play roles in damage.

another week another couple games to buy. getting Oxenfree for sure, and also Axiom Verge. here's hoping Inside is on sale next week

What was the consensis on Mind Zero? I know it is a Persona wannabe, but is it worth $7.50?

It's not a persona wannabe. People thought that based on art and the fact that you have human/demon form then reviewed it for not being something it never claimed to be. It's a bland drpg with bland characters, bland dungeons, bland lewt... but a unique and interesting combat system that is far better than most. I plated it and really enjoyed the combat despite the blandness permeating everything else. For example, you find skills rather than weapons, meaning little lewt and you can make every character basically the same. But the actual combat requires thought and skill, at least on hardest difficulty, it's not just spam attack and heal. For the record, i don't like persona but love most other sMt games

Someone tell me about Stranger of Sword City, please.

I like Shiren and Etrian Odyssey, if it's anything like those.

It's more like etrian. My favorite drpg on vita. Great overall design, though the attempt to have people field multiple parties failed as its easier to just reload if a character dies. Still, it scratches all the right itches, and my only real complaint was that dungeon design isn't as solid (read, complex) as dt2 or op abyss.

Vanilla Bloodborne: $9.99 (60% off)
Bloodborne DLC: $19.99 (0% off)

Bloodborne Complete Edition bundle (vanilla + DLC): $19.99 (60% off)

Don't be cheap, go for the complete edition.

mirrors edge catalyst at twelve dollars is literally, literally a steal. it is so so good. even if you hate open worlds the main story missions are worth that, and so many of the side missions like gridnodes offer really fun challenges.

holy shit.

i own it on pc already, but i'm still super tempted.

Frustrating that the Metal Slug Collection is on sale for PS4 but not Vita (PSP).

Digital copy of Bloodborne is tempting at $8.

If you own a PS4 and wont buy Bloodborne for $8 I dont even know what to say to you.
