Got this from GMG for free and am hoping someone else will find a better use for it then me.
Not very appealing review stats, but at least it's not Bad Rats.

What are some of the best Steam games? For someone that's getting back into PC gaming, are there games other than the big AAA titles like Witcher 3, Fallout 4 and Civ VI that one should purchase? Their store can seem a big overwhelming.

So many games. If I were to recommend one it would be SOMA.

Has anybody played SOMA on a MacBook Pro without a dGPU? It's the one game I'm considering in the sale (generally I just play The Binding of Isaac) since I loved Amnesia The Dark Descent and I've heard a lot of positives about SOMA, but I'm just worried as to what the performance would be like or if I'd even be able to play it at an acceptable frame rate.

Will there be a Humble Christmas sale this year?

No, it ended just before the Steam Sale.

It's pretty dumb, yeah.

I can't say about Mac, but the performance is not great on PC, even with a i7 6700K + 1080. Framerate is decent, but the stuttering is very apparent. G-Sync doesn't help.

Hmm, if the performance isn't great with those specifications on Windows I'd think it's not going to be particularly amazing on macOS by any stretch of the imagination, particularly with the components I have. I think I'll leave it so, cheers!

Thanks, bought Endless Legend Emperor Pack at Gamersgate.com since it was a tad cheaper than Steam and the Christmas sale already had been on HB.

Seems to have been pretty cheap this spring on Humble Store.

I wonder if there are people here without this game?

A few traders are offering Batman Telltale Complete for $13.
I might bite on this offer as I liked Ep. 1 and this'd be one of my very very very FEW exceptions when it comes to getting Telltale games for more than $5 :P

Not done a refund during a sale before - should have expected it to be much slower. It's taken 2 days to get confirmation that the refund has been successful. Usually it gets accepted a few hours after the request.

For which game(s)?

That's odd, I submitted a refund request yesterday and got the money back earlier. I was surprised at how fast it was.

For which game(s)?

Just Baldurs Gate. I bought the first one only, then realised there was the Bundlestars bundle for it. Took from the first hour of the sale to right now to get the refund granted. The request was received seconds after asking.

My refund was accepted after a few hours for Street Fighter. Money in wallet is pending though.

Really. Did you place an order today?

I'm at 3 hours and counting. I just want a refund so I can buy Doom on Steam instead.

No, day before yesterday. Bought Watch Dogs 2. Was my first order from them, hopefully it's resolved for you soon.

I havent found it as hard as MH or a Souls game but the difficulty does pick up around Difficulty level 5. For me anyway.

It really took a while to click but I really enjoy the game now.

Any rough estimate on how long it takes to pick up difficulty wise? I heard from a friend that it starts off pretty easy in comparison to MH. Just curious how slow the ramp up is.

This is a scheduled automated repost on behalf of VibratingDonkey, who is running this raffle.

So I bought Metal Gear Rising, thanks to the folks here who earlier gave me the tutorial to get it to run in 4K.

There was another problem that popped up though, I'll just explain here in case it happens to someone.

Since my PC was connected to my TV via HDMI, the game ran in 24hz no matter what settings/resolution I configured. There's a fix that needs to be running while the game plays called ForceFix (1.02), with that, finally, the game runs in beautiful 4K (2X MSAA) at 60FPS, it's a hassle but worth imo. Though I'd like to add that it's a fucking shame that you need two FAN MADE patches to get to that point, it's a chance that this game has dedicated fans giving some time to make the game better, many thanks to them (and fuck Konami.)

The fix can be found here: https://steamcommunity.com/app/235460/discussions/0/630802344702757872/

Now to find some mods to make the game look even better...

EDIT: Not much, but I found a mod that put the title screen Raiden's face instead of the standard one, it's a little better.

Where did you find these mods?

Just bought

Momodora: Reverie Under the Moonlight

Momodora III was short but it was a good game, and from what I've read the sequel is longer and the combat seems to be more deep now. I have high hopes for this one, because of all the praise it got.

Mini Metro

I played the original concept many years ago and was looking to buy it after being released on Steam. The concept sounds relaxing but things can turn bad pretty fast when you star adding more lines. I'm curious to see what was added to the game, because the developers seems to be very active and release updates regularly.

Earthtongue

This was sitting on my wishlist for some time. Looks relaxing.

Lovely Planet Arcade

From what I know the "sequel" is quite different from the first game, but I enjoyed the gameplay on the first one a lot so I really want to see the differences.

Starr Mazer: DSP

I know nothing about this one. Just bought on impulse, but looks promising.

All in all $81. I had D4 in there as well but took it out. Can someone recommend that game? What's it like?
It's something similar to a point and click. Go to places, talk to weird ass NPCs, find items, complete QTEs, try to understand what is going on. Great, great presentation.

Only bought Enter the Gungeon and LOVE ( A GAFfer made 2D platformer for 1$) so far.
Both are highly reccomended
I'm really liking Gungeon too, even if I'm not great at it. I can get to the fourth floor semi-regularly now but haven't cleared it yet. It has a lot of smart hooks that rewarded you for partial progress and incentivize you to keep trying.

Anybody care to answer this as I wonder myself. I believe GE is a tad easier and has a story. Any other person care to explain more?

God Eater (speaking about GE2 here from personal experience, never played GE1) is easier but also faster paced when compared to Monster Hunter. There's less "stalking and prepping" and the actual combat with the monsters is more mash-n-dodge. You have everything you need when you start a mission, most of the monster-to-monster changes are figuring out which of your vast collection of bullets is going to be most effective (you can change bullet type mid-mission, but not your main melee weapon).

Missions tend to be short, 10 minute affairs, but there are a *LOT* of them (there is a ton of game here). There definitely is a story. Both the story and the characters are Anime As Hell. Your party mermbers beyond your main char are somewhat customizable, but beyond their skills and a few other things you can't control the AI behavior too much.

Probably the deepest "crafting" system in the game is for bullets. You can ignore it early on, but it's incredibly powerful. You can create crazy bullet recipies, like "okay, I want this lightning bullet to be long range, travel in an arc to the opponent, and then detonate with a small area of effect. If it hits an enemy, I want it to attach a beacon. I also want two "slaved" bullets to be fired automatically .5 and .75 seconds after the first bullet, that home in on a beacon if one is present." It's intimidating to start, but can be good fun once you get the hang of it.

So did decide to go with Darkest Dungeon as my only buy this sale. Started it up not really expecting anything more and an alright game... I've done three quests now and WOW, I feel exhausted and little scared to go on an another quest. The game is so much more well put together than I expected, the presentation is top notch, I mean even the voices sound just right. If I just manage to get over that hesitation to play because it's so intense it might jump up on my GOTY list.

I'm about where you are in the game and feel the same. Every quest I feel like I barely got out and everyones sanity is shot. Still trying to figure out all the mechanics. Also, the controller setup is bad and I'd recommend using the mouse to anyone interested. I think this and Thumper will be my main purchases. Still thinking about Batman: Telltale and Firewatch.

You know the way people buy takeaways when they're hungover? I buy bloody video games.

Today's haul includes Rainbow Six: Siege, Dark Souls III, Hitman, Love, Metal Gear: Rising, and Oniken/Odallus.

Which traders are these? Steam keys possibly? I love Telltale games and $13 is a price I'll bite on.
