Steam Winter Sale 2016 thread of hoping for better deals elsewhere

Hey guys, quick question, I just saw that the season pass for Batman Arkham Knight was really cheap and wanted to know if you recommend it. I liked the game a lot despite it's flaws, but I never really got into buying the DLC. What do you think? Also, what DLC is not included in the season pass?
The season pass is super thin. Might be worth it at the sale price though.

Also, what's the order in which I have to play the Ys games?

(shrug) I think you can play 'em in whatever order you'd like.

1 + 2 are the first two games in the series, Felghana is a remake of 3, and Origin is a prequel that has a lot of callbacks to the first two games. I played 'em in that order, and it worked out fine.

You don't need to play them chronologically.
You can either Start with Ys 1+2 then Ys 3 (Oath) onwards
Or just start with Ys Oath in Felghana.

Ys 1 and 2 have a simplistic combat system and are in fact really simple 80s era RPGs.

The term you're looking for is callforward :V
Also that is...not exactly true. Origin can be enjoyed on its own just fine regardless of its plot because like other Ys games, the plots are stand alone and aren't necessary to enjoy the game.

I've been meaning to give away keys for a while. What better time than the holidays. Merry Christmas, everyone.

I've always completely ignored the entire trading card aspect of steam.

I have tons of cards, most probably only worth .10 cents or so. Do I turn them into gems? What or booster packs? What's the point of all this?

Download Idle Master so you passively unlock all the cards from every game you own.
List them all for about the price it shows in the UI.
Buy a cheap game or two during the sale with the wallet money.
Repeat.

Terrific giveaway. And I have all five of those games, so I'll sit this one out, but I'll tell anyone who enters, whichever game you choose, you won't choose wrong.

Okay, I couldn't really get into Arcanum, even though I can respect what it was going for. I'm pretty sure it's not the game, it's me.

There really is no point other than unlocking badges, which can increase Steam level which can give you an increased friend limit but otherwise it's just for show / status if you give a shit. Cards unlock badges but also emoticons specific to that game for chat and usually a profile background as well.

If you don't care, just sell them all on the market. Over time it actually can be quite the earner. Booster packs unlock randomly over time, just check the market for it if is worth opening the pack or just selling the pack as is. Use whatever Steam Wallet money you earn back on games you want etc.

Download idle master, get all the cards. Download enhanced steam and quick/instant sell everything. Buy games.

I used to be like all y'all, being interested in cards.

Then they required mobile authentication, which I can't do (and even if I could, I'm not so sure I would.) So now I'm reduced to giving zero fucks about cards by necessity...and it's actually kinda freeing.

This is a super useful thing I never knew about. Maybe now I can stop ignoring this aspect of Steam games.

So I just beat this game.

Really enjoyed it and was surprised and impressed with Tim Curry's cajun accent as Gabriel.

Strongly recommend it for any fans of PnC Adventure games though I would recommend using a guide if you find navigating through the original game to be difficult.

Hey so I don't know if anybody already mentioned it in this thread but I'd like to give some props to Orwell. If you like story/character driven games this might interest you. It's a near-future dystopian domestic terrorism thriller told through the lens of a nation-state's surveillance system called Orwell. You play the part of a faceless investigator who's part of the Orwell project and you have to pick the right pieces of data to upload to Orwell so it can make the right connections and catch the perps before more incidents happen. Pick the wrong pieces of data and innocent people can get arrested or worse.

Because of the sort of game it is, there's plenty of clicking, scrolling and dragging and dropping involved, so if that doesn't sound fun when combined with a compelling story you might have second thoughts. However, there's a free demo available which is basically the entire first day/chapter (it was originally episodic, by the seem of things) so you can try that out to see if it's a good fit for you.

And if you'd prefer a DRM free version then the game's website has got you covered too.

Me reading this last night: "Oh man, CrossCode sounds awesome! I'll have to get it in the morning!"

Me this morning: "Wait, I already own CrossCode?"

I did the exact same thing.

Deep Dungeons of Doom -- MB-EE39517D84E26046 - Taken by Ludens

I had Dragon Quest Heroes in my cart at the SE store for some days now. Just decided to pull the trigger and grab it for 10€ but I see it changed to 26,79€, so I guess that too was a price error or something. Next time then.

I'm having a Berenstein moment where I'm pretty sure that Tokyo Twilight Ghost Hunters was on Steam and I had in it my wishlist, but apparently that never happened. Huh.

So far my haul is a bunch of cheaper games:
Narcissu 10th Anniversary Anthology Project
The Order of the Thorne - The King's Challenge
Winter Novel
Void And Meddler
Helen's Mysterious Castle
The Detail
Savant - Ascent
The Dream Machine: Chapter 1 & 2
LucasArts Adventure Pack

I'm totally lost this sale. What are some recent must buys?

Some suggestions for great deals, many of which are at their record low, released this year or the year before.

Age of Decadence
Deus Ex: Mankind Divided
Dirt Rally
Doom
Invisible Inc
Massive Chalice
Oxenfree
Pixeljunk Shooter Ultimate
Pony Island
Satellite Reign

If you're looking for anime games, there are experts in this thread that can give better answers.

The... upgrade? was supposed to come on Steam I think, so it might be because of that?

I was just going to say that, I remember playing it a bit and it was neat

23 cards and I'm still missing the 6th card to make the sale badge. Blasted random number generators. Hopefully it'll pop with this next round of voting/queue.

My favorite Sierra game (if you can't tell by avatar lol)!

Any Marvel Heroes players in here log on today for a yuuuuuuuuuuuge amount of gifts that is probably the result of a bug but oh my God is it a lot of gifts.

FYI Age of Decadence is 70% off on GOG vs half price on Steam sale.
Dunno if it's my type of game, but for less than a fiver (GBP) I'll give it a go.
