Literally the only Platinum game I can think of in the past year or two that doesn't seem like a "paying the rent" game is Automata.

Tbh while I was interested the character design + very stock unreal 4 "look" probably didn't really help it

I gotta say i wasn't really looking forward to this game that much.
But to see it cancelled.. oh my. Such a shame, still a platinum game after all.

These days putting money into Platinum seems like about as big of a gable as you can get.
That only gets worse if this rumour turns out to be true and Kamiya working on your game is also not a guarantee of quality from the studio.
Ill wait and see what happens at the Scorpio reveals. Maybe its just getting retooled.

Oh for fuck sake. If Microsoft have some brains they won't do this, because outrage will be huge. Lionhead and some free2play garbage is one thing, but canceling Kamiya's dream game is brand suicide.

Had promise but what they showed looked bad. Shame if it's gone completely pear shaped but no loss if in the end it wasn't going to be anything decent. It's not like it would have sold well anyhow to recover cost of development.

Game isnt coming together and we've seen the weird ass demos that kinda prove it. Thats not MS's fault.
It also doesnt mean MS didnt say "this shit aint working but lets do something ELSE"
And yeah this game looked like it had trouble running on an xbox one, its not gonna run on the switch lol

That will be a real bummer if confirmed. I was counting Scalebound to be included in my 2017 - The year of the character-action game! celebration. I love what I've seen from Nier Autamata so far, but if I were platinum I wouldn't necessarily want to be hanging my financial hat on it to sell millions of copies.
It's looking less about 'screwing over a dev' If they were missing milestones that's a massive red flag for any sensible company who's paying for the game.

The game looks god awful and was destined for poor sales. If Sunset Overdrive and Quantum Break couldn't move units on X1, how was this supposed to?

MS almost had me with the 4k player (useless once I see how awesome net flix and amazon 4 k streaming looks like)

Ask the guys at remedy. Or even the ex lionhead guys They will give you an answer on what the most likely reason would be.
I just hope Platinum will still be ok after this.
Probably because a similar situation happened with SEGA dropping the funding for Bayonetta 2, before Nintendo took over the project.
I just hope someone, whoever it could be, will save the project.
