Yeah, the movie was solid for sure, and holds up pretty well now - we just watched it for the first time last year, before the show premiered. I agree leaning harder on the time travel would have been much more interesting, in watching the series we discussed a lot that there were missed opportunities where the time travel seemed inconsistent or under-utilized. I think the ending you proposed would definitely be an interesting diversion from the movie.

I also want to mention as a side note that the reveal of the partner's dark secret was really dull as far as deep dark secrets go.

Dull describes the whole show. Even the time travelling love triangle. lol

Anyone watch One Day at a Time on Netflix? I tried the first episode, but found generic (the studio audience, fake or not, is killing me) like Fuller House but without any of the nostalgia to sell it. But then Tara from EHG/P.TV said it's a great show so I'm trying to keep going.

Seriously. I don't know if I'm just out of the loop on TV news since Firewall & Iceberg ended or there is just too much TV these days but I was genuinely surprised to find out in the past week that:

1) Bryan Cranston is already back on TV in a regular role
2) Graham Yost is already running a new show (see 1)
3) Tim Olyphant is back on TV in a regular role

At this point you could tell me that a new season of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" is airing next week and I would almost believe it.

I dropped it at the S1 break. Way too drawn out. Would have been much better in a tighter 10/13 episode season.

I tried to get into it and just couldn't, was a bit too generic for my tastes. Dropped it after the 4th episode, got too many other shows I wanna try out and limited time

As for the ratings, it looks like everyone watched the new BBT, then switched back over to Netflix, heh.

Hell's Kitchen did relatively well for Fox — it's the highest-rated broadcast of the night that wasn't on CBS.

Blacklist did the best of the 10 p.m. shows, but barely. (Not like comparing ratings across networks matters much, it's just interesting to note.)

No, there won't be any more episodes for either show. Each season has already been completed and both will be going up on Netflix very soon (8 days after their finales air on the CW), and apparently in the <1% chance that they become a 'binge moment' (read: if they somehow manage to capture the attention of a significant portion of Netflix subscribers and/or dominate 'the conversation') then they would have a shot at a renewal.

When the CW does decide to cancel them, there are plans to wrap up both shows with an extra scene/tag that will be released on the CW's digital service/website.

I'm sure they're good, but what I'm looking for specifically are critics that get screeners and basically serve as a TV news feed, since I'm not really reading Uprox or Variety (with their SKEINS) or wherever most of the time now. Unfortunately the people who do get to watch 5 episodes of Game of Thrones before it airs don't really podcast anymore, so I never have any idea what's out until people on GAF start talking about it or it becomes so big that it's inescapable.

Like, I KNOW the new season of Homeland will be shit, but it would be nice to hear Sepinwall tell me it's shit before it officially airs. lo

It's more that it's interesting because sitcoms don't really do these kinds of episodes, particularly one with a culturally specific viewpoint about a political or sociological problem. The closest thing that we get outside of the Carmichael Show is when Blackish does its "special episodes". Like what sitcom would have an episode about a kid's parents being deported by ICE?

I think the show itself is fine though. Once I got over the studio audience WOOOOOOOO stuff that annoys me about 90s sitcoms and Fuller House, it becomes an interesting show with an interesting voice.

The show started out well, but I fell behind by almost a season. And then when I found out what they were going to do with Abbie, I deleted it off my DVR and canceled all future recordings.

I honestly have been nothing but surprised Sleepy Hollow even got a third and fourth season. Bailed on the second myself, yet Almost Human got canned.
Fox execs must really like their religious pandering, even if those people don't actually watch the damn show. (Supernatural doesn't have a tremendous overlap with religion either, despite being thematized into it)
