Horizon Zero Dawn | Cinematic Trailer

I only have two concerns with this game:

1) Not having enough variety in side quests. If most of the side quests are stuff like "Kill X, Gather Y parts" type of quests, it will get boring fast.

2) The encounters in the game... I've been replaying Shadow Fall recently and I'm half through the game, so far I found 2 annoying sections that just made went "wtf who the hell though this was a good design" (that section where you have toprotect Dr. Massar is fucking annoying).

But this is by a different director so I hope they have good encounters.

1- They shared the types of quests we will have but not exactly what you do on those quests, I think the most filler quests would be the ones to obtain materials for crafting.

2- But there are also good encounters in that game, is not that it's completely trash.

I want some quests where you have to solve a conflict between warring tribes in order to get their aid for a bigger main quest. Or something where you figure out what is going wrong with a particular set of robos and the answer to that bleeds into the main storyline.

Essentially, I just want cohesion between main quests and side quests. Hopefully there will be some fun moments that show a lighter side of Aloy as well.

for point 1, since this is an action game, if the core action gameplay is good enough, I probably have no problem if all the quest is just kill X variety as long as they mix up the encounter. like fighting 2 thunderjaw at the sametime, or maybe fighting sabretooth robot and crocodile robot at once etc.

I hope the side quest will be more like Gravity Rush 2 though, where all the side quest have story context expanding on the lore and side character's story. we know that Alloy will probably travel to various village/settlement. so I hope there will be plenty of npc in each village, and the sidequests will give you more lore and story for the npc.

Thats what the tribe quest are

Tribe Quests
Humanity has split into several different tribes in Horizon Zero Dawn, and they have all learned to survive differently in a world full of mammoth machines. Tribes are located all over the world, dealing with different climates and terrain. Special quests are available for every tribe, so you can discover more about them, such as their religious beliefs and how they live off the land. Some, such as Aloy's tribe the Nora, are primarily hunters while others are gatherers. They also all have their different views about technology and why the world is in its current state. In addition, Guerrilla worked extensively to make sure the tribes all have their own complex and interesting histories with one another. Just like our own world, not everyone always gets along – and these hostilities affect how Aloy navigates her journey. Lastly, these quests will allow Aloy to meet new people and learn to see life from different points of view, which is important considering she has only ever known the Nora tribe's perspective.

Also:
This is only a few of the activities that you can do in the world that Guerrilla was ready to talk about, but we're assured there are plenty more. While we were at the studio, Guerrilla also spoke about more story-oriented side quests alongside ones that were primarily combat-focused, while others are a mix of the two. From what we saw, the world looked vast, giving Guerrilla a lot of opportunity to fill it up with fun diversions.

One of the devs mentioned being a fan of Zoids growing up and maybe that bled into Horizon and yeah don't know why I didn't see it sooner...

Getting more hyped all the time.

People are hoping for good side quests as if the main quests are not poor in most open world games... I just wish for good and varied main quests, this is so hard to nail by most, and of course good story, all the rest we've seen so far like visuals combat etc looks superb.

Going by how they seem to understand that combining enemy types is a good idea, Combat Variety probably won't be an issue. But the mechanics in other regards to don't seem nearly as strong as the combat so I don't expect much good from whatever content that uses those mechanics.

What do we know about other mechanics?

As far as I know in an RPG like that the most important thing is story, quests and combat, we know that the combat seems to be like one of the best ever in an open world RPG, the other big and even more important factor is story (which includes lore and world building) and quest variety, we don't know much about those enough to see if its lacking, if they won't provide interesting and varied quests and an interesting story, lore etc so obviously the game would fail no matter how good the combat is, it's left to be seen if they succeeds in that.

Like Nier, I would like to see some different armor/outfits. Just a small taste is fine. There is changable gear, .... right?

There are several Outfits to Wear but maybe not individually customizable like different Head gear or leg gear.

Nice, I am sure there will be loading between the different areas but that is cool.

Well there is not any d"ifferent areas" , so how will the loading exist in first place?
