Good guy Trudeau.

Looks like maybe we should pack up the Statue of Liberty and re-assemble it in the Maritimes.

i thought canada was really strict when it came to accepting refugees though? didn't they only accept a tiny amount of syrian refugees?

Yeah right, same will happen as elsewhere, parties will capitalize on fear. Conservatives could easily run with this against liberals.

Strongly eyeing the Canadian Express Entry immigration policy within the next year. My patience for this American bullshit is only going so far and my skilled engineering ass doesn't need to provide services to this shit country.

Thank fuck the Liberals are in power and hopefully the Conservatives will shoot themselves in the foot enough times that it'll stay that way for a good long while.

'Tiny' amount compared to countries that are very close yo Syria, but I think we're close to our 50,000 refugee goal by now, if we haven't already exceeded it. Which is significantly more than most countries outside of eurasia. That's a big qualifier, but the logistics required to move 50,000 people across an ocean and house them is significant.

We are strict-ish in who we take in, we do a lot of screening and prioritize 'easier' families. Single men I think have the hardest go of it, but we still let them in, it just takes additional vetting.

What is the additional vetting and why are men discriminated against?

Is it that they prioritize the weakest people (women and children)?
