Overwatch: Year of the Rooster Event is live (Jan 24th - Feb 13), has CTF Brawl

Christmas loot boxes were like skins galore.

This shit though? The drop rate for this event is abysmal. Also the achievement for winning CtR 3-0 can just leave. 2 times it didn't work at all. It's now 3AM Damnit.

Yeah I did much better during the Christmas boxes than I am this event so far
 
Earned 10 loot boxes, and got the D.va, Mei, and Symettra skins I was looking for.

I also almost have the 3000 coins to buy one more ... maybe Zenyatta?

My luck is normally not this good.
 
I bought a 24 pack of event boxes.

Ended up getting Mei, Zenyatta, Roadhog's 3k skins.
Tracer's 750 event skin and some of the emotes.

Bought Winston's skin with 3k, Got Reinhardt's + D.Va's 3k skins in boxes thru levelling up.

I didn't get much from the Christmas event though... Missed out on Winston's yeti :'(
 
Played and played, finally leveled up again and got a loot box. Two gold ones appeared and I got super hopeful.


One was a non event Zenyatta Legendary skin and the other a pile of 500 coins...
 
Earned and opened nearly thirty loot boxes and haven't really got shit other than common skins. Best thing I got was the Junkrat victory pose were he has a firecracker in his mouth. Drop rates are bunk.
 
When your first lunar legendary skin was Mei and the second one you get is the alternate color of that one. Damn you desire sensor, stop giving me all the skins I don't want.
 
Def feels like they messed with the drop rates for loot boxes. Getting yellows was extremely rare and even purples didn't drop as often for me. Well, they got my money because I wanted all the new year stuff. But I bought the rest with coins. Not a fan of the drop rate especially if it's from leveling up.

Because I think the latter is going on.

I feel like they've driven down the drop rate to encourage loot box purchases.

- Zenyatta's LNY skin (new, didn't want)
- Sombra's Azucar (new, meh)
- Zenyatta's LNY skin (again)
- Symmetra's LNY skin (did want)
- a whole lot of duplicates

Random is random, I didn't get much of note during the winter event, but in the 7~ or so boxes I've gotten during this I've already had two event legendaries and some epics.
 
If you get the rooster in CTF right before/during overtime and just run to your spawn to make the overtime ticker go continuously, you're a child.

This mode can actually be fun sometimes, but man is it broken.
 
I've gotten 5 legendary skins, but 3 of them were not holiday-themed skins. That seems kind of idiotic that you can get non-holiday stuff from holiday loot boxes.
 
So many boxes and best thing so far was Roadhog's intro, the Holidays event was super generous, this is is so stingy it is really souring my experience, im not even getting decent stuff that are not from the event.
 
Maaaan, all I want is the D.Va skin.

I got two Zens, a Reinhardt, Mei, Junkrat and Symmetra. Still no D.Va. Not likely to make another 1500 gold before the event ends either.

I bought 11 loot boxes, and then have gotten another 9 through playing - I've weirdly gotten about five legendaries, but only one from the event itself. Getting very little event stuff, I feel like I'm getting so much less event drops than in comparison to previous events.
 
Anyone know of any place where I can buy PSN currency at a discounted price? I give up and want to buy a pack of loot boxes. But the BST thread doesn't have any right now.
 
Out of my arcade loot boxes today the best thing i got was mercy's event intro.

Like this is some of the worst RNG of any event and i wish Blizz would comment on it.

I remember unboxing Witch Mercy and Pumpkin Reaper 3-4 times each.
 
Got legendary currency in the first free loot box. Through the 15 I've bought and probably 10+ I've earned:
Mako Hog Skin
Red Mei LNY skin
Mako Hog Skin again
Junkrat and Mercy's skins twice.
Like no voice lines.
 
I've been having great luck personally. I haven't paid for a single box and I have:

Mercy
Reinhardt
D Va
Tracer
Ana
Winston
and a non-event Tracer legendary.

And that Winston box had a legendary gold drop too. :)

Only other ones I want are Zen, Roadhog and Junkrat. Should be able to buy them at the end of the event at this rate.
 
In another attempt of the game trying to troll me, the game has given me 3 legendary skins tonight, none of them being from the lunar event, 2 of them being duplicates and the other one being straight up awful. Most aggravating event for me so far, damn these lootboxes.

Never bought a single box. Not bad...
I also got like... 3-4 regular Legendary skins since the event started but they were all duplicates.

This is me. In retrospect I did pretty damn well with the Christmas boxes. Got the skins for Zenyatta, Pharah, Reaper and Roadhog without having to resort to using my own coinage. Even got that really cool Zarya emote where she has three different animations when opening up a present.

These Lunar boxes have not been kind to me though. All I've gotten in the past week that's of any note is a highlight intro for a character that I despise and never use. Other than that it's just sprays. Lots and lots of sprays. UGH!

So apparently some are mad that Mei looks fairly slim in her new skin because they had some notion of her being chubby before? I can only assume they are from always-warm places and have no idea how thick arctic gear is.
 
Been pleasantly surprised with the skins I've gotten (mainly because some where the ones I wanted.
Happy to get Winston's Wukong skin.
Also got New Year's skins for Tracer and Bastion.

May have to buy Mercy or Junkrat's by end of event.
 
As someone who has bought about 130 boxes during the event I will agree the sweetness of the drops appears lower than Xmas but the frequency of event specific golds and purples are still high. I've obtained all event skins except for Chang'e Mei and Bastion's LNY purple. I've received several duplicates of the event skins and only a hand full of non-event legendaries or skins of any variety in general.
Random is still random.

It's not about the gear. Developers confirmed that it's a bug. Her body proportions in that skin are not right, it's visible.

I think I've earned 11 boxes at this point, 8 were wwbw, 1 had gold money, 1 one rein and one had mercy.

The drop rate for this stuff has been dramatically worse than the other events.
 
Caved in and bought 50 loot boxes for about 20 bucks (discount and stuff). Got almost all repeats with one or two lunar skins. Feel kind of disappointed.

I would feel the same.
That's why avoid buying boxes because you never know what you are buying. It looks like chances for Legendary event skins are very low. Many players are complaining. And there are just TOO MUCH icons and sprays...
