I look forward to an 84 metacritic for BotW.

"Fun and refreshing but too much loot, wish it wasn't held back by switch hardware"
I said Zelda and Horizon would be the first 90's of the year. I'm 0/1 so far lol.

I also have large hands (I needed a grip to use the Vita comfortably and the regular size 3DS is uncomfortable).

Right on. I have pretty big hands (compared to most people) but I've always found the 3DS to be pretty comfortable (that being said, I've been using an XL since it came out so it's been a while since I've played with one for long gaming sessions).

Guess I'll have to wait and see!

I'm really interested to see how this pans out for me as well. The 3DS XL made my hands cramp up after a few hours of playing in bed, but I was also supporting the weight in a weird way. If the Joy Con are as light as everyone says, I don't see myself having an issue.

I am not really worried about how the game looks. I am more worried about the performance. People were complaining about frame rate problems in the hands on demos, and that was just from walking through grass!!

Technical aspects will be an issue for some reviewers, but not most, unless the game has severe performance problems. I know reviewers are harsher this generation, so it's not a perfect comparison, but Super Mario Galaxy 2 came out in a year when 360 and PS3 were delivering vastly superior games from a technical perspective (games like God of War 3 and Red Dead Redemption had just released, for example) and it has a Meta score of 97. If BotW delivers an amazing, unique gameplay experience, it's going to do just fine. You also have to take into account that most journalists will likely be pretty floored that they're able to play this type of game on a portable device (all outlets are reviewing this on Switch).

Yea if a reviewer is gonna dock the score because the game doesnt look as good as a PS4 game they should be fired.

I just saw the first Switch commercial on TV :O

On Comedy Central.

I've actually seen them a lot on various channels like TBS, Freeform, MTV... The latter two my wife like to watch, I promise.

I think I may have even seen one on BBC America but I'm not 100% sure if I'm remembering correctly there.

Hey guys, if you are trying to avoid Zelda spoilers make sure to download add ons like Unspoiler in Chrome. It will flag any mention of the game

It has had pretty constant advertising on ESPN.

Yeah, I've seen the 1 2 Switch ad their a couple times. The Play Together one seems more kid focused as I only saw it once during Star Wars Rebels so far.

Incidentally I saw the Lego Batman movie yesterday and expected some sort of Switch ad before the previews but all I saw was a 3DS ad for Mario Sports Superstars and Yoshi and Poochy.

I guess the Switch pre-film ads will come after launch.

Is there any nes or snes games announced for the VC?

I don't think there is yet

Would it be difficult to copy paste the wii u vc? I don't doubt it is easier said than done, but not impossible I would imagine

There are no details yet on the VC at all, I wouldn't expect it for a couple months at least.

Copying their emulators (each game is packaged with its own emulator) from Wii U architecture to Switch architecture would not be easy, so expect another drip feeding.

I am avoiding that Zelda asset thread like the absolute plague that it is. Any impressions yet? Any other Zelda non-spoiler thread? Please!?

I feel i could handle it if it was only a few days from launch but 9ish days out from launch its just too soon :(

We need a zelda fall out shelter for non spoilers.

If Zelda reviews above 90 - 'it's Zelda that's the score it has to be given regardless of quality because Nintendo'

Below 90 - 'shit sucks, worst Zelda ever'

That's what I'm seeing after reading some of this thread. Doesn't matter what score it gets it's going to get hammered one way or the other. Definitely a review thread I intend to stay a million miles away from.

Digital foundry got a hands on with the switch version and found it to be rock solid 30fps, with a dip or two at a couple of random spots. I dont think performance is going to be a problem ;)

I hope we get some concrete days for games tomorrow. Come on we're almost to March and we don't have dates for games releasing in March.

I wished Nintendo would talk some more...

takriel, I'm nearly as excited for someone like to get to play this as I am to play it myself. I've been seeing your building excitement for years here so it's heartening to see the game finally come out!

maxcriden, your benignity and empathy truly shine through your posts. Thank you for this. And may you have a wonderful experience with Breath of the Wild, as well! :)
