I posted this in the other thread.

Moneymaking hit streak continues for #Blumhouse this yr. #Split & #GetOut cost $14M combined to produce & shd gross $400-500M worldwide.

Get Out is going to be one of those films that will make negligeable money overseas.

Well deserved for Jordan Peele. I can't believe he didn't direct 5 movies before this one, he's that damn good at his job.

Put me on "team go alone".

It really only seems awkward, but once you start doing it, going to movies alone is really satisfying and soul affirming. Particularly for non-comedies.

It was a packed house for Get Out and the entire audience loved it. WoM should carry this well next week.

If I'm ever away on business, going to the movies is better than sitting in the room with TBS/TNT/etc. Not weird at all!

Happy to see Get Out do so well. I heard the early projections being in the 24-28 range, but wondered if it'd end up being lower since my theater was mostly empty (saw it yesterday around 5pm). Happy that my theater was apparently an outlier.

Movie was really good. Especially after the let down that was Keanu.

God fucking damnit China. I swear to god if we get another Alice RE movie because of you and if it's anywhere NEAR as intolerably bad as Final Chapter, I'm gonna be real mad.

$14 million worldwide for it.

Poor DeHaan. He's gonna have a bad year with that and Valerian.
Valerian could do well I think. Besson films tend to perform decently and the comic is well known in Europe. Worldwide it should do okay.

Lookimg forward to seeing Get Out.

Really glad to see Get Out open that big. Did it get a boost over it's tracking from the reviews?

A Cure for Wellness: more like a cure for profits, am I rite. Both films are getting what they deserve.

Fantastic for Get Out. WOM is through the roof, so I believe it will hit $100M even with the onslaught of blockbusters releasing over the next 7 weeks.

I wonder if they'd bring back Ada Wong and make her the main character.

It's worth pointing out that Resident Evil 6 was not a profit sharing movie in China. They got a flat $7M fee for it, along with a bonus after 500M RMB (which it passed in this first weekend).

Read the spolers for A Cure for Wellness, sounded like a rejected Outer Limits episode

A Cure For Wellness' $40M budget seems like some creative accounting on the part of Fox; The Ring cost $48M back in 2002.

Also worth noting Cure had two Super Bowl spots which together cost about a million more than this thing will make domestically.

First time the first three movies on the box office have been really good films?!

So happy to see Get Out killing it.

Wait, Resident Evil crushed Rogue One in China?

...why?

Going to see Get Out tonight at 7, on a pretty good roll seeing horror movies in theaters after Don't Breathe.

First post has been updated with Worldwide Box Office results.

Assassins Creed also opened in China this weekend. It made $17M

Here is a list of Hollywood films that will end up making more than Resident Evil 6 in China:

Furious 7, Transformers 4, Zootopia, Age of Ultron, Warcraft, Jurassic World, Avatar, and probably Civil War.

Holy fuck at RE6

Now let's retcon this movie and follow Retribution's ending correctly, k? Happy for the series but mad at how they ended it :|

I really need to see Get Out. Been very hard to not look at spoilers for it.

Also glad to see John Wick holding steady in the top 3. Great movies doing great!

Superbowl was on Fox, so it cost them as in they didnt sell the ad space to something else.

between split and get out the return on investment for Universal has been insane.

i hope gore verbinski's career isn't dead after cure for wellness and lone ranger back to back. i think everything he has made has been pretty worthwhile except for pirates 3. cure for wellness was pretty cool, certainly the most out there major studio movie i've seen in a while.

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
Holy fucking shit at the RE opening.

They're gonna make more of those shitty movies .. aren't they ?

They should make a RE that goes between Retribution and Final Chapter.

...I hated Final Chapter. So poorly edited (and I was at the Tokyo debut in December).
