Is it even possible to soothe a horse without any stamina upgrades?

edit: Indeed it is. Just took multiple tries.

Took me 30 minutes of trying. Eventually I just jumped on one and I could ride it. Spent a few minutes soothing the horse to increase its affection just in case.

Got off the plateau and holy shit this game is amazing.

Also, why oh why can't we have the Japanese audio. The English dub is an embarrassment and takes away from the cutscenes. Hopefully I somehow get used to it cause the story seems pretty decent otherwise.

I'm pretty sure now that you can calm horses using bait like apples so that taming them isn't hard. You can stealth pretty close up to a horse and then toss an apple or two a few feet away from you. My horses dropped their guards after that. and like I said in my last post I didn't even have to tame my first horse, because I led it to a trail of apples, and then let it eat a bunch of apples right out of my arms

How long "should" it take to get the glider? I've been having so much fun screwing around that I've played it for 4-5 hours and I JUST got it, haha.

What the hell? I just started playing, and this framerate is fucking awful (playing docked). How do reviewers and other people find this acceptable?

Been playing this for about two hours on a very unrushed way and I'm already enchanted. As an aside I'm loving the hardware itself as a handheld so far.

Found a (glowy mountaintop spoiler)
weird looking, glowy blue horse at the top of Satori Mountain when it was glowing. Looks super freaky and is super fast (you can just mash gallop and it won't run out) but you can't stable it because again, the stable masters are racist against two faced glowing blue demi-god horses.

I've done 12 Shrines so far and they've all been great. The Dueling Peaks shrines was clever but the Shrine of Power is my favourite so far. Kinda wish they didn't show it at E3 last year

The lack of spawns is killing me.

Does anyone know how to force respawns?

I can't leave the first area because of OCD :v

Lmao i actually just stole a bokoblins kill.

On the middle top of the plateau, there are a bunch of bokobs trying to hunt a boar. One of them killed it and i ran and stole the meat and gtfo lol. They were so mad.

This game omg 😂😂😂

Explain the dueling peaks one with the balls to me please. I am not comprehending.

What're y'all naming your horses?

I've got Oreo, Sundae, Cocoa, and Mocha. I love them all. Cocoa has a bit of an attitude but I'm working on it lol

Apona, Bepona, Cepona (etc). Though I'll miss Epona because I don't have the amiibo and I'll save the name if I can find one that looks like her.

I think that's the one I used my three best weapons with strength 25, 20, and 18 to beat. Just keep healing up whenever you take a hit. If you don't have weapons even near those levels then you probably should come back later. The three phases are very distinct and you need to learn what to do. Other than that use flurry attacks and charged attacks.

Thank you!

I went back to the bad guy hangout and they dropped some good weapons... went back and learned the moves... took my time but tackled the enemy in one try.

Thanks!

Three hours in and just chasing a horse has been the highlight of my playthrough so far

found a cool black horse that I wanted, so I chased it around for like 10 minutes until I found a blue one with white spots and a blond mane

I figured with that one I might try luring it over to me with a trail of apples that I set on the ground

it fucking worked

and then I tried standing there, ten feet away from the horse who now loves apples, holding five apples in my arms, for the horse, to see if it would trust me a bit, walk up to me, and eat them right out of my hands.

it fucking worked
... and I didn't even need to tame the horse after that. I convinced the horse to my side with the power of friendship.

loving this shit so far
WOW

This game just works!

I had not tried that, but I've tried quite several things and if I can think it, it can happen

Crazy

Just came off a 3 hour session. Just got all 4 shrines done before I get the glider. Still exploring before I go meet the old man. This game is addicting.

The environments in this game are absolutely gorgeous

played on tv for a bit.....yeah for the most part im sticking to handheld, looking at this on my 55 inch automatically made me compare it's graphics to Horizon lol, not even the art style could save it. Looks bad on tv(relatively speaking), but GREAT as a handheld lol

still havent left the plateau, im on my last shrine thing but did i miss a cold weather shirt and the cooking ability somewhere?

I have to say one memorable moment I had today was the
blood moon
, it just happened out of nowhere, I even had a perfect shot of
the moon as it was coming up blood red, and i was hearing the music, and for those 40 seconds or so, I was legitimately freaked out until the cutscene happened, and afterwards the lizardfos I just killed literally came back to life

I played pretty much all day and I just met
Impa
.

Spent tons of time exploring, holy shit this game is gigantic.

Also at some point the
moon went red and the skies too, clouds went crazy fast, to learn that it was a blood moon and all the enemies I killed were respawning.
I'm speechless at how awesome that was.

I'm not good at explaining these things, but I'll try:
When you enter one of the shrines, don't move the balls. Instead make a note (literally, or take a screenshot) of where all the balls are placed in both shrines. Then go to the opposite shrine and compare the note/screenshot.

So lets say for example that in Shrine A, a ball is placed 2nd from the left on the 1st row. That's where one of the balls should then be placed in Shrine B.

Thanks for the asnwer guys!
The Reviews weren't wrong, this fucking game. I just took refuge in one of those stables during a thunder storm with a horse I named "Red".

One of the things I like most about this game is that it truly seems to want to reward you for going practically everywhere. In other games what might amount to some nice scenery could very well be a place where you come across a nice weapon, Korok seed, etc.

ok so i was playing and saw some heavenly light in the distance so i went to find it and there was some kind of like... heaven situation going on, like i'd found nirvana. there was a ghost horse and ghost rabbits but they all looked like fairies?????? and i tried to ride the horse but she kicked me off and disappeared into the ether
