How do you get inside the shrine that's
on an island surrounded by sticker bushes / thorns around it? And two lizard enemies. I assume you need to burn the sticker bushes away first somehow but I can't figure out how?

Collecting bugs is extremely hard. You have to spot them before they fly away and you have to sneak up on them to catch them.

I have no advice. It blows. I have zero insects of any variety.

That's crazy. You can catch ten in less than 5 minutes by doing charge attacks in the grass nearby.

Any idea on where I might find them? Like, is there a specific zone or something?

There are a number of areas with a lot of grass around him, any of those will have plenty.

When you can get there you will know.

How are y'all making your rupees?

Are there any items that only exist to be sold? I'm always broke but I don't want to get rid of stuff that I might need later...

Pretty easy for crickets at least. Find a bunch of grass, do spin attack with a sword, mash A and pick them up. You can make it even easier by rotating camera to be almost tow-down view so you can see which direction the cricket is hopping to.

Spoilers for some things that happen after you meet
Impa
(first village in the proper story)

Love the Yiga Clan part. I find it funny how they try to ambush you; some very weird situations, lol. And I find their design quite cool.

Just went way off the beat and path and ended up at Hateno village. I adora this game so much.

So I'm on top of a mountain and I shot the
dragon in the eye and now he's circling around.

Any tips on what's next, not sure if I'm going to have to fight or not.

I have to say, I was pretty skeptical about the dungeons in this game. After playing one I can say.: they are very, very different. If you go by space, they are indeed much smaller than for example Lakebed Temple in TP.

Does that make them worse? Hell no! They are not comparable to older Zelda dungeons and they shouldn't be compared. The space is really well used in here and the level design is, as expected from the Zelda team, top notch. The puzzle design is really clever and more importantly, new. These are puzzles you haven't seen in any Zelda game to date and they feel fresh and exciting and you really have to think about the puzzles and even more important, you have to get how the dungeon is built and how it works.

I get the complains about how they have all the same theming but just play them by yourself. You might be suprised.

So some guy in
Hateno Village
not told me to collect 10 restless crickets...

...I haven't found a single one and I don't have any in my inventory.

What do?

Cut down a bunch of grass, they're literally everywhere. You can get 10 in no time.

I didn't bother with grass for a long time - that's a mistake! Don't sleep on mowing, I got a shitload of fairies from doing that as well.

What's the quickest way to make some rupees? How do I kill those hat crab things with the laser eye out in the field? They don't seem to take any of my damage.

What are people's opinions on which armor/clothes to wear? And more particularly, which are more worth the upgrade investment? I'm wearing some pretty base level stuff but more options are becoming available to me.

you'll see another one on him you can shoot from the mountaintop while he's circling. After that, he'll fly down a bit, you can follow him by jumping into the air currents that will be flowing up from the mountain, it'll give a boost so you can get down to him again.

Man this game is just gorgeous!! I am 7 hours and I have tamed my first 2 horses. I don't understand the complaints about horse controls. You have to earn their trust.

Finally beat the four shrines at the GP. It blows my mind that they're giving me these powerful abilities so early in the game. These powers are so much fun to use! I can't wait to see what's next.

I think I found a Dungeon

Location Name Spoiler:
The Forgotten Temple

I don't think I'm supposed to be here

*dies

definitely not supposed to be here

Amy Timeline placement informations out yet?

The speculation says that
as SS was the beginning of all timelines, this game is placed at the finish of all timelines, since in the story are references of various characters and races from all timelines
. Weird, isn't?

I'm not enjoying myself as much as I should be, maybe I'm playing the game wrong. I want to explore everything in the world, but I get tired when I explore too much and don't progress the story. Then, when I skip over areas to progress the story, I find myself not caring about the stuff in the overworld. I think the game is brilliantly designed, but for some reason it's just not clicking with me. I wonder if anyone else feels or felt this way.

oh man, the music at
Hateno Ancient Tech Lab
is amazing

also
Ms. Purah
is great. loving the NPC variety in this game. so much of that Zelda charm and weirdness has been expanded upon.

Based on fairly early in game story stuff, it almost certainly takes place at the end of it's timeline. Don't know which timeline it is though for certain

I'll still go with DF. But the amount of time that has passed could make it so that Ganon has been a constant threat could make it all three. Good decision IMO, can make additional games afterwards that take place before and/or use existing plots that have not been seen in game from other time lines. Or they can just completely move forward with different story elements in a timeline that takes place after BotW.

It's not speculation. It's canonical fact.

I made it out of the plateu without getting the warm mallet. Much later I returned and climbed Mount Hylia but nothing happened. Still, there is a big rock with smaller rocks around it, and the ground is weared off like the shape of the rock, suggesting the rock could be laid there. After some time trying everything I could think of I gave up. The rock didn't seem to respond to weapons, stasis, bombs...so, does anyone know if you can do something with it? The whole setup screams "Koro seed" to me :S

The rock on the top? I'd like to know too.

Game is much better once you leave the Plateau/

Agreed, and I spent a lot of time there having fun. Hyrule Kingdom feels like a vast, living world, though. The Plateau is like an incubation chamber. The rest of the world is the best open world I have ever experienced by a large margin.

Anyone else purposely wasting time exploring and treasure hunting just because you don't ever want this game to end? It's just so great.

Should i sell any Rubys i find or should i keep them for something else?I reall need the rupees...

Is there anything at all that i should absolutely not sell?

So what does it mean when you cook food, and for example you get a dish with 3 hearts, but a small 5 on the first heart? (Not talking about the amount of items in the bottom left of the item icon.)

I was sneaking up on this goat, no way could he have heard me and he just out of the blue looks behind him and sees me. This has now happened with many deer as well, that's kinda BS.

How am I ever going to be able to mount a deer?

No. I completely get this sentiment.

There is no sense of momentum whatsoever because I'm constantly daisy-chaining a thousand trivial little things. I've been playing for seventeen hours and haven't found any memories or met any story characters besides one. I complete a bunch of shrines and get the item rewards inside, but they break and then it's like they were never there.

I have Korok Seeds I can't spent. I have raw materials I can't use. I haven't made any changes to my wardrobe or Sheikah Slate. For all the time I've been playing, I've ultimately accomplished very little, and it's been all for disposable or consumable rewards. Every time I try to make legitimate progress, I end up exploring for three hours and stumbling upon another unrelated story element. This is different from how I normally play these kind stuff of games where I see side quests all the way through before starting another one.

If I had to boil my complaints about the game down to a single detail, it's the impermanence of your reward for all the time you invest and all the land you explore.
