Anyone have a good way of getting rupees and/or arrows? I'd still like to figure it out on my own, but it might be getting to the point where it's a bit frustrating since I want to buy some new clothes or I want some arrows..I'm constantly at 0-5 arrows. I know I can pick them up after firing them, but I'm still in the negatives with that..

Is it supposed to be this rare to find either of these items or am I doing something wrong? Heh

If you clear bokoblin camps regularly you shouldn't be in short supply. Crates often have arrows in them too. If you want to cheese it a bit, you can raise your shield while an archer is shooting arrows at you and when you lower it you get all of them at once.

For rupees most of them will come from selling some of your items. Sell gems if you have a lot of them but keep some and don't sell diamonds.

Went fishing for a bit...

How I was actually moving the raft once my two Korok Leaf broke.

I love the amount of pointless stupid stuff you can do.

The ground will have a glowing rainbow circle that you can stand on and activate the memory. At least that is how it worked for the one I found. I've only discovered one so far.

There's an npc in each stables who gives you concise directions for the closest memory of the stable

I've seen him in most or if not all stables so far

Thanks. I haven't tried seeking these out yet.

Buy the stacks of arrows from every vendor whenever you can. Destroy boxes etc at camps which sometimes are hiding arrows. You can cook 5 apples and sell it for 50 rupees. Pretty easy to make a few hundred because there's apples everywhere.

Man I really want this game. But knowing that I cant get a Switch anytime soon, I think Im going to play an older title since Ive not played many of them.

Regarding the open world, Ive heard people call it empty, but can you basically find these shrines often, and do you run into a lot of neat NPCs?

I really like the idea of this game being so full of random puzzles/enemies that are purposely put there, as the quality of those encounters sounds promising.

It's basically what I crave for in an open world-- places you can go that are full of neat puzzles/platforming sections, and well designed enemies. I get so bored of those in many open world games because they never feel like they are there purposely

Its going to be really interesting reading threads where people rank the shrines/bosses and all that. Im curious to see how this ranks amongst the other Zelda games.

On the trail to the Zoras Domain alot of enemies drop stacks of em. I got close to a hundred regular arrows around there.

I just buy them from Beedle every time I hit up a stable (which is often since he's at all of them), or if I go to Kakariko.

Having played a whole bunch and getting lost and not having even done the first real main quest outside of the mandatory tutorial stuff (they told me to go to Kakariko village, I told them to go fuck themselves and randomly stumbled upon another main story thing I can do in a far away land... in fact, I've actually walked up to Hyrule Castle early on and was wondering if it would actually be possible to just finish the game right then and there lol), I feel like this game is some kind of masterpiece in game design.

They give you this massive open world, which is normally boring for me, but half of my fun comes from seeing something interesting in the distance and figuring out how I want to get there using various mobility options (climbing, gliding, quick travel, etc.) that are fun and easy to use.

(I'm currently not sure how I feel about horses, but my impression right now is that I can tame one that doesn't control like absolute shit and doesn't need to be coddled every 5 seconds to level up quickly)

This is kind of like what the 3DS Zelda game tried to do, but a lot better since the actual game feels fresh as opposed to "give you all the shit to buy at the beginning and you get to choose which dungeons to tackle in whatever order, but you're playing essentially the same game you've been playing for years".

Even region progression is great: because almost everything is tied to gear, all I need to do to survive in a high difficulty region is to kill one enemy and/or steal its weapon... and then I can handle like 99% of all the encounters.

I'm playing in minimal armor mode and 3 hearts though (because all my points have been going to stamina since more stamina = more fun), so I'm getting one shotted everywhere... but I'm fine with this since auto checkpoints are consistently good and I can even save scam if I want... this is a breath of fresh air from Nier Automata, which had horrendous checkpointing practically the entire game.

Combat is massively improved over previous 3D Zeldas since I'm doing more than turtling with the shield and then mashing the attack button (I even like the slow motion stuff you can do since it rewards good timing and/or good stamina management). And the sheer amount of weapon and enemy animation variations is really neat and keeps stuff fresh.

And the best part about the game is how it uses the open world: almost all of the enemy encounters/camp areas are designed by an actual thinking person, so I've come across a ridiculous amount of variety in terms of "problems" that need to be solved... this completely kills stuff like MGSV, much to my surprise.

Everyone's gameplay and playthroughs will look absolutely different from everyone else's. I can guarantee this. The theorycraft surrounding how quickly or efficiently someone can get to the end of the game is enormous.

I think the only real complaint I have from the game is the wonkyness of the controls, but I suspect that this is some kind of holdover from the WiiU version where I'm to understand that equipment selection is done via touch screen?

(not really sure about any of this since I haven't properly looked for WiiU information)

But yes: Nintendo has really delivered on this one. Here I was thinking that Nier was gonna be the best thing I played this year, but then this thing came out and, I knew it was gonna be great, but not GOAT great lol

I've explored large parts of the east half of the map but have only found one upgrade
fairy
. Can someone point me in the compass direction of another one?

Has anyone been able to find the areas that were in the first trailers? The E3 unveil one and the Game Awards one. I'm curious to see if they changed or not.

Uh i didnt notice it earlier but it actually does. But is for the whole map so no idea when you finish a section of the map

Can I ask, have you completed the game at all? Or done anything that causes it to trigger?

I'm dieing to know what exactly triggers this completion %, as I like to see what I'm at.
Yet I dont see it on my map at all.
There doesnt seem to be anywhere on the net that tells you what triggers it to appear, and the official guide simply tells you its on the map, not how it appears or what triggers it.

I don't think I've died as often as in this Zelda (or any other game actually)

Roughly every 2 minutes trying to reach the Zora Domain, make that every minute actually....

I'm exhausted from staying up until almost 3 this morning and then getting back up at 6:30 to start my day.

Somehow 5 more minutes keeps turning into 3 hours later.

Why can't I quit you at a decent hour, BOTW?!?

Is there any data saved to the cart itself? When my Master Edition finally arrives I would like to pass the standard copy on to someone.

lol this game has me fuckin pissed

Mission spoilers for Zoras realm

This motherfucker on top of the mountain keeps killing me in one shot. I must not be strong enough to kill him yet. Am I only supposed to collect the electric arrows at this point and come back for this guy later? I only have 5 hearts total and one extra stamina bar

Is there a log I am missing that contains the recipes that I have discovered? I mean I can see the actual recipe for something I successfully created but I will never remember I need two dragonfly's and a lizard tail to get a movement stat boost. Maybe I am just missing the log for this? I probably am. :P

You don't have to kill it.

It's intended to be a very difficult battle. I did it with four hearts and +1 Stamina, you just have to master your flurry rush timing. But you definitely don't have to kill it, just gather arrows.

Don't fight him, sneak around him. The arrows are all over the place in that area.

Is there a good way to light a campfire in the wilderness without using a fire arrow? Is that the only way? Maybe I should stock up on those...

You sneak past him to collect the arrows.

You
don't have to kill him. Ever.

I put so many hours in to this game I dreamed about it twice this weekend. As I was going down some steps this morning I thought to myself "Oh I should have paraglided down this." I experienced the Tetris Effect again as I was out getting lunch today, though I don't remember what it was.

I'm just gonna read a book or some shit tonight.

Okay cool. You beat him tho...shit feels like I need to try again now. Do I get anything worth while for beating him?

Someone answer this please... I do remember someone saying there is some sort of log (beastiary or something) but I haven't come across it yet myself.

Can somebody please explain how the sorting order of weapons and clothes works? It seems to toggle asc/desc when you press the sort button... but sometimes more powerful or higher defence items are not first/last in the list..

Does it group items into categories when you sort them e.g. Wooden, metal, rusty etc?

Holy hell that fight with the (enemy spoilers)
Lynel
was intense as hell. Got a Dark Souls lite vibe from it.

Such a great Zelda game, my one complaint is I still get the sprint and jump button confused. I even changed the settings a couple times and still get screwed up.

Boy I just sneaked around that guy and pulled the arrows out of the trees. That guy is too hardcore for lil ol me.

No there isnt because the recipes arent static. Its about the type and quality of the ingridients, but not which specific ingridient you use. You can get the same food but with better stats if you use better ingridiets.

I beat him only having 5 hearts. It was hard, I could usually take a hit but that's it. Sometimes he could OHKO me. You want to be near him so that you force him to do his sword swinging routine which you'll want to back-flip away from prompting the flurry attacks. It took me about 7-10 flurry attacks to take him down. I also ate like 5 recipe meals to heal so it took everything I had almost.

Or you could just sneak around and get the arrows.

From my experimentation:

There's lots of different ways to achieve the same end result from cooking/crafting.

I think the idea is to add stuff that will generally get you in the right direction. So if you wanna go fast potion, use swift lizards + some monster part. If you want to heal and get a temp defense boost, use Ironshrooms + some food. Generally you can double or triple up the item that gives you the boost to increase the effect. (for example, more Ironshrooms = more defense).

So, this being the case, I've found that a log book would be superfluous because the descriptions of the items generally hold the clues you need to find out what it does.

You can do it with three hearts. Attack up close and perfect dodge with a backflip when he slices. If you do it right he'll repeat the attack again and you can keep doing it until he dies.

That's true but not completely. There are recipes that resemble specific food (i.e. fried bananas) that requires specific combinations. So a recipe can be, a + b + c + x where x is variable but within a specific category.
