Played a few hours, just got to the Nexus; I don't know if it's just lowered expectations or the fact that I haven't gotten around to playing Zelda or Horizon, but I find that I'm really enjoying this thing.
Shooting's good, scanning gives heavy Star Trek vibes, and the plot hooks (what are these not-actually-that-old alien ruins, what's the Kett's beef, where are the other arks, etc.) presented so far have all grabbed my interest. It's better than Dragon Age: Inquisition was early on, that's for sure.
Graphically, it's aces. I'm playing on PC with a 1070, resolution scaler cranked up to 1.25 with a mix of Ultra and High settings. Yes, the human faces are bizarre but when everything else looks like heaven, they're somewhat more easily-ignored.
Companions haven't made enough of an impact on me as of yet to give a defined opinion; the best I can say is that they're inoffensive. Something I have noticed though is that they're a lot more talky in the field than their original trilogy counterparts, and while I imagine more than a few players will find it annoying, I like it; gives a grounded, more natural air to the whole ordeal you're going through in those opening few hours.
Of course, this could all change. I can't imagine I'll engage in crafting too much, as it was nearly the death of me in DA:I. On that same tangent, if the open world is as dull in this game as it was in Inquisition, it'll definitely be a hamper on my enjoyment. Also, the after-mentioned plot hooks and companion arcs could fail to pan out satisfyingly, which would pretty much kill my interest.
Still, it's not the DA2-esque doomsday scenario that others have been positing, that's for certain.
