Struggling to understand the snake analogy. So free speech is a one way street that does not protect those that seek to provide criticism? Ah yes I see Colin.

Moriarty supports the struggle of Black Americans, he just ridicules Colin Kaepernick for protesting
Moriarty supports women, he just makes sexist jokes on Women's Day
Moriarty supports diversity, he just only invite white men on his show
Moriarty cares about transpeople, he just complains about people protesting against professional harasser and transphobe
Moriarty cares about poor people, he just doesn't support policies that benefit the poor
Moriarty cares about removing safe spaces, he just blocks anyone who legitimately criticize him
Moriarty cares about native Americans, he just complains about them for 10 minutes straight when they write something about cultural appropriation
Moriarty cares about polite discourse, he just calls oppressed people humorless sacks of shit when they voice their displeasure with his humor
For all the things that Colin Moriarty claims he is, and all the defenders, moderates and supporters who claim similarly, I've yet to see something that supports this narrative of being in support of oppressed people. His actions speak louder than whatever things he claim to support.

If all those points that I listed don't tell you what type of person Moriarty is because you disagree with one single point, then maybe you're just looking for a way out to acknowledge what his position is. Besides, he was all indignant and offended from a member of a historically oppressed group wrote a blog article about her feelings and experience on the matter of indigenous culture in a AAA game. The guy has issues and needs to talk to someone. Becoming so angry and offended over a blog article and written by someone who's marginalized, is very alarming. Regardless, stop sticking your head in the sand, because his actions should be a clear indication of how much support he's actually willing to give to marginalized groups and the things he wants to advocate.
The dude spends so much time on correcting and criticizing marginalized people, but how much is he in support of them? How often does he take action to lessen injustices via his own work?
Jesse Williams' BET award speech captures perfectly what Colin needs to do

I think the more likely cause was to shit on liberals without having to worry about sending away any KF supporters.
"there are so many people that play video games, so many people that enjoy entertainment that don't have anyone speaking for them".
Man, fuck this guy. This might be the bit that's made me most irate in this saga.
I mean this WHOLE THING started because he couldn't hold back with his hot take on International Women's Day; a day when the industry is trying to make things more hospitable for women.
Cause lord knows most of the games media, the games development industry, and the games community ain't always the best to women. At best they're subject to the same kind of marginalization, pay inequality and discrimination in any other industry, at worst they're getting death and rape threats, being doxxed, having their sexual history plastered over the internet, having the places they try to speak up subject to bomb threats. Usually because they dared make a video about Mario or some fucking troglodyte thinks there's a grand conspiracy involving non-existent reviews and sexual favours.
And so a day comes along when its time to try, as a society and as an industry, to make things less fucked up for women in a field that honestly I'm surprised any of them still have the patience or tolerance for but nonononono Colin's gotta get in there with his sick burn to validate the unvoiced, much neglected voice of the straight white male who just wants to say hahahaha aren't chicks kind of noisy and/or annoying.
Fuck. That.
No Colin, pieces of shit like you already have a voice in the industry. It is deafening. That is the problem. You couldn't even go one day without being the centre of attention.

A gigantic racist incharge of a branch of government that is responsible for civil rights enforcement. He's super qualified.Let the record show that Jeff Sessions is a wild dickhead racist. For what it's worth in this context.

I have no idea how I've never seen this before but it was actually quite funny...

Shows what Colin is doing, but shows what some other people are doing as well.
You should read Cleese's twitter of late. It is 95% attacking Trump, Fox News, and Trump supporters.
I wouldn't expect anything different, Cleese is awesome.
I am sure he would take Colin to task for his diet racism if he even know who he was.
lol the fact that he thinks there are games with a female lead because of 'hidden agendas' is kind of an alarm bellColin spoke at great length in a Podcast before he made that Tweet about how refreshing it was to play a game with a strong female lead with absolutely no hidden agenda etc.
Yet, nobody talks about that. He's just a sexist pig.
Probably not over the tweet itself
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ukisoucFIk4
He'd probably just tell Colin he's a shite "comedian". Does everyone remember Cleese's work in Fawlty Towers and Monty Python?

He would over Colin's stances on Black Lives Matter, Jeff Sessions, and diversity. Absolutely no question. Colin raises the alarm sound of racism and white privilege time and time again.
I love how anyone who still supported Colin in this thread has run for the hills as the evidence of his racism/sexism keeps piling up the last few pages. It's beautiful.
BINGO. Even when Colin tries to sound accepting he can't help but spew out racist or sexist rhetoric.

Not sure. My history of voting in Canada has been based on candidates and their platforms and not their party alignment.Low hanging fruit Colin. The regressive left is definitely a thing, and they are authoritarian and want to police what you say, do, what games you like, what comedians you find funny, what shows you want to watch, and so forth. However, it's a fairly small camp on the left. Not as large as the Christian Conservatives who still campaign in fairly large numbers against pro choice and gay marriage.
Still, you know what you're doing. Put out that tweet and sit back and watch people lose their shit. That's not really the new thing to do, people have been doing it well before you Colin!
Edit: I should actually ask, does anyone on GAF actually identify as being part of the regressive left?
Not sure. My history of voting in Canada has been based on candidates and their platforms and not their party alignment.
Two months ago, just for fun, I took a Canadian political alignment quiz where they asked you like 70 multiple choice questions about various topics and how you view them, how important it is and what you would do, etc. I scored 91% Liberal Party (Left).
But I'm against policing everything.
Am I regressive? Am I doomed?
It might be good to remember he complained about London no longer being an English city and being pro-Brexit. He is an old racist.
Just saw his Twitter feed post-announcement that he's leaving. I can't imagine what was wrong with his upbringing, plus, living with someone like him who is so super toxic... Christ.

Because a thread full of people who clearly dont like him, dont really know him and are squeezing any possible negative meaning from every word he has said, on twitter, isnt making anyone here a little biased.

He has said countless statements that are blatantly racist or sexist and can't be explained away. Are you denying this fact?
https://canada.isidewith.com/political-quizIs that quiz still active? I'll take it! I did get schooled ealier I'm probably better to say authoritarian rather than regressive. If you're against policing everything then I'd say that is not authoritarian at all.
Simply voting for Brexit isn't enough for me to class someone as racist, and that is from a remain voter and someone trying desperately to get Scotland back in the EU. This tips into the collectivism I am not fond of. Many voters to leave the EU might be racist, but everyone of them? Nah. I'd need to see a lot more damning evidence of Cleese to feel comfortable just calling him a racist.

It's strange coming back to this thread after hearing the rest of the Internet's take.
It seems like the only people criticizing Colin are professional games journalists and NeoGAF. It's weird.
https://canada.isidewith.com/political-quiz
I'm not sure how different Canadian policies are to Americans. Maybe Canadian liberals and conservatives are different.
The kindafunny guys all clearly like him, as do a lot of other gaming personalities, so I'm sure he's fine person to person.
Really? What did "the Internet" think?
Definitely not nearly as toxic as this thread. On the reddit people who don't agree with Colin are sad to see him go and wish him the best, not fading into oblivion
I guess, but knowing someone has toxic views like that would be off putting to me. If someone has a total polar opposite political leaning as I do, I find it too difficult to be friends with that person. It'd be especially difficult if they were like him, a straight white dude and me as a minority seeing his subtle racist/sexist, stupid, typical 'white dude jokes'.
Because a thread full of people who clearly dont like him, dont really know him and are squeezing any possible negative meaning from every word he has said, on twitter, isnt making anyone here a little biased.
I listened to him on various podcasts for 6+ years, and so did many others.
So this narrative of "We don't know him." doesn't fly.
The reason this thread is 99 pages is because so many people are disappointed that someone they used to like turned into what he became.
