"Good story telling will come later; we don't need it for the intro"Agreed. I mean come on, this is Mass Effect. We know that there will be world-building and backstory galore. We don't need it all right away.
I feel like I'm taking crazy pills.

They're in a cluster, they're smaller blobs of stars that cling to galaxies, the milky way has a few. They're just getting around using FTL travel I guess, like they've always had.
I think your suggestion is actually perfect. The kett quickly became 'the bad guys' and lost all mystique once you kill like fifty of them. The concept of travelling for 600 years only to be killed in cold blood millions of light years from home is pretty chilling, but that was wasted on that soldier.
Make the dad the one who gets executed, the all powerful pathfinder, and suddenly the kett are scary and his death has meaning.
Ignore the dude whose only contribution to the discussion is saying everyone's nitpicking, he clearly isn't interested in debate.

If multiplayer is still unplayable when I give it another go tomorrow I'm going to be pretty upset. I can't trust it will be fixed at launch when we already have the day 1 patch. Even when rubberbanding doesn't make a round unplayable, you can forget using weapons like sniper rifles since even slight lag means shots don't register.
Wouldn't the multiplayer entirely dependent on the population? Why don't you just wait until Tuesday and try then when more people are playing and see if that results in a better experience. Having a larger population to pull from should help quite a bit.
How do I equip a different weapon? I found a sniper rifle and would like to use it instead of my pistol, but see no way to do that from my inventory screen.
FTL travel was in system though right? Even at light speed, the nearest star to us is over 4lys away. Even if they have significant FTL capability, it should take weeks, if not months hoping between these stars. And remember, star density is farthest apart as you move away from the center of the galaxy. On the edge where they are, there should be quite a passing of time between these runs lol. Since they came from the Milky Way, they can't possibly have tech that is more advanced than what they left back home.
I have no objections to alien dick in general (would've loved to bang Thane in ME2 and I found the Bull in DAI hot, too - not strictly speaking an alien but a different species, nonetheless) but most of the Mass Effect species just don't look appealing to me whatsoever, unfortunately. When you say Liam, do you mean on a Sara Ryder playthrough? Or was that a typo?
I honestly think the game could've done with 20 mins or so of gameplay set BEFORE you actually leave for Andromeda. Give us a chance to learn about all the arks, the leadership, your father, your twin, the project itself so that when we fast forward 600 years and everything goes to shit, it actually means something. We're in a completely alien place and our loved ones are in danger, as it is we're dropped in (much like FFXV now that I think about it) and we're expected to care about all this stuff.
Alright, just reveal all the answers in the opening. Be my guest.
I mean we did know imeediately about the beacon and why it was on Eden Prime, right?

I didn't have much of a problem with that, personally. It was just part of my summary about the mission feeling rushed and the motivations being all over the place.Oh come on. We know that this will be explained in the game. There is no need to know this reasoning this early on.
I'm guessing you didn't like the geth intro in the original, then?

Using what I wrote as a suggestion, the outcome would've basically been the same, just without Alec. SAM would take control of Ryder at the obelisk and do whatever Alec did. If anything, this also would've made the Kett's hologram show Ryder as the Pathfinder interfacing with the tech instead of Alec, painting Ryder as a bigger target for continued conflict.
There is a weapon wheel where you can choose up to 4 weapons and ammo types and armour/shield boosts. You have three "skills" that can be added to 4 profiles that you can swap on the fly. So you can have 12 skills in use.I only played the multiplayer, but did they remove the weapon/power wheel in the campaign aswell? If so that's extremely disappointing as the entire series gameplay was built around it.
I dont think thats a fair comparison. The geth had a full backstory already built on the time frame of mass effect, so an introduction like that one makes sense. There is no mystery to what the geth are, the mystery is what they are doing there and why they are interested in the eden prime artifact.
While in this one, they had the opportunity to make the kett a more mysterious race, more interesting to just *see* them.
I dont really care, but I have to admit that the first encounter didnt felt that interesting as they turned into targets in less that 2 minutes after seeing the first one. I would have loved a bit more of a buildup to it, but I guess its easier to just throw the "big bad guys who are killing your teammates" trope so Ryder has a motive to start shooting that soon in the game![]()
Don't know what you're talking about here. Inquisition's graphics were anything but bland. Especially the environments looked stunning at times. And I played it on XB1.Not bad, I expected worst.
Gettting some inquisition vibes as planets could be the equivalent of the zones in inquisition and you gain points and shit with everything you do in each planet. At least the graphics arent as bland as inquisition I guess.
Lol, fair enough. The point of all the changes is just to make the first mission better. That's all.I mean sure, that is an alternative beginning. It just doesn't make sense to make such changes without knowing how the story plays out. It seems pointless.

After 30 hours of planet scanning, no one's going to remember what happened in the tutorial, anyway.
I found the best Sara

The opening of The Last of Us is a masterclass in how to make the player feel strong emotions in very little time. It's not impossible it just takes good writing, performance and direction. Andromeda fails to give anything emotion weight in its opening hours, in my opinion, let alone to what appears to be its central relationship (the Ryder family).
The way it's presented just makes me wonder why have a twin and father in the first place, when they're utility to the story seems minimal.
See above.

I'm sorry that's not a masterclass at all. TLoU is a 10/10 game with a strong opening but that opening is in no way genius.
So the game is 10/10 and has a strong opening but the opening is not genius. Somehow I think you've could've made your argument better.
It's not genius. It does something very simple to make you sad. It's not rocket science to make someone sad.
Killing little girls to make you sad ain't genius man.
You can be a great opening and not be genius. It's not like it was something we haven't seen before.

Can anyone tell me how to melee? The tutorial prompt flashed on screen for a half second when this giant alien beastie was charging me. I gunned it down in half a sec and the prompt disappeared before I could read it...
How does scanning work?
If it seriously was that easy then so many games would be 10/10 stories or openings. It's not genius. It does something very simple to make you sad. It's not rocket science to make someone sad.

Man combat in this game looks like a shitload of fun. .
The combat is sublime. Truly.
The combat is pretty fun in this, definitely the shining light so far in the trial.
Consensus that combat is great, guys ?
What is it comparable to ?
A faster, better handling Mass Effect 3.
Never played ME3.
Played ME2 years ago, can't quite recall the experience.short lived playthrough.
You guys weren't kidding about the character creator. There seems to be a lot missing but what is especially bad is how all of the presets just looked fucked up as hell. I could be wrong but this was much better in DAI. Jesus.
I thought it was great. It was a poorly written scene. It's okay to admit it.
