I might be out of the loop, but why does the right not like him? Because he was against Trump?

Well that and he went on his little PR tour denouncing the past 10 years of stupid and borderline racist shit he's said, which would unsurprisingly make rightwingers mad.

(Which turned out to be a bunch of hot air, hence no one liking his opportunist ass.)

Ubisoft had wet surfaces being unable to climb in assassins creed 1. Nintendo does it in 2017 "wow I can't believe al these crazy systems that work with each other that nintendo made. Wow. Wow."

Ah, yes, the important and critical wet surface system in Assassin's Creed 1 that literally no one remembers.

Just thought I would point out that For Honor was #1 on NPD for February and is the best selling game of 2017 so far... Listening to the last PSILY, well #ColinWasWrong

I know "Colin was right" is an inside joke, but his industry analysis really isn't/wasn't anything special.

I always love watching people attempt to defend this title. It's a shit name, inside joke or not. And if you're even half aware of Colin's behavior you know that while it may have started out as a joke? It definitely became more sincere to Colin over time.

Colin has proven time and time again that he struggles with critique, several instances of which have been highlighted in this thread. Now, I don't entirely fault him for this because learning to gracefully accept critique is a difficult skill to acquire, the difference here however is that it's clear Colin isn't making the effort to try and work on this skill. In fact in many cases he's done more to shut out dissenting opinions than listen to them, which when you're someone who's struggling with that concept running a show titled "Colin Was Right" only serves to make you look completely unselfaware at best, and woefully ignorant or arrogant at worst.

It's an "inside joke", we get it. But it's not a funny one. And someone with even a half ounce of self awareness would understand why naming the show that was a terrible idea.

Just watched the Gamescast bit where Colin arrogantly claims that most Nintendo games are critically overrated and Breath of the Wild doesn't deserve a 97 on metacritic because he played the game for a bit and of course his opinion is the only one that counts. Holy shit at that ignorance.

Yeah good fucking riddance.

That's why I never say 'overrated'. Its essentially saying everyone else is wrong and I am right. It seems extra lazy coming from someone like him, who should be able to offer something more insightful. Jeff from GB doesn't love the game because of a few mechanics, I haven't heard him say overrated once.

What exactly is Nintendo getting away with? They released a good game that many people love and people reviewed it accordingly? Who are you to say one person's experience wasn't a 10 out of 10? When Nintendo releases crap, they get shit on for it, just like any company. BotW is getting such good reviews because it is a high quality game. Also originality is not as important as execution.

I love BotW. Might be one of if not my favorite game ever. It also had FPS drops so bad my game froze completely several times. I highly doubt if this were a non major AAA nintendo title this would have been forgiven in reviews so easily.

The Souls games always get a pass for their framerate too. Not to mention the online lag that can result in some really unfair deaths. If a game is good enough, no matter who made it, reviewers will look past a few technical flaws. And unlike you, I don't particularly love BotW, but I completely understand its ultra positive reviews.

And the reverse can also be true. Most reviewers agree that Naughty Dog's games have average gameplay, but they give them extremely high scores thanks to their storytelling and technical prowess. A 10 doesn't mean a game is perfect.

Does Nintendo Get A Pass With Reviews...

Anyone else really dislike the unnecessary shitty and fuck thrown in. Is this how he always talks about stuff?

It comes across as what someone with little support in an argument does. Or repeating something multiple times, which he also did.

Ah, yes, the important and critical wet surface system in Assassin's Creed 1 that literally no one remembers.

I'm pretty sure AC1 didn't have a weather system so... is OP just saying that some walls weren't climbable? Because that's a complete non sequitur.

Nintendo definetely doesn't get a pass with review scores. Look at the games they released in 2016. Many of them got destroyed.
Zelda though? Well...Skyward Sword does have a 93 on Metacritic.
I also think the critical response to Breath of the Wild is completely warranted.

ALSO...who cares. It doesn't matter. Saying an aggregated score of 90 reviews is inaccurate and indicative of a game being "overrated" after playing the Tutorial is silly either way.

The forum has really come together in their dislike of Colin :')

When so many people think you're a shitty person then maybe there's some truth to it. If it was me I'd have to reflect on myself and ask why I'm disliked this much, but it's Colin so he'll probably say something about haters gonna hate and carry on his ways.

I think it's fair to say that when you see a lot of people disliking you or someone else, it's worthwhile to investigate why. But I don't like the idea that lots of dislike = "some truth to it". That may be sometimes true, but not always. I understand that you couched that with a "maybe" but I did want to emphasize this point.

Thus, if you're reading this thread, the thing to pay attention to is the reasons people are giving, not the number of negative posts. With that all said, keep in mind that Colin is also getting lots of personal messages of support. Psychologically, this provides a way to dismiss criticism.

If there's one thing I think we can all agree on with Colin, is that he's fucking terrible at predicting the success of videogame consoles.

I think we all remember his article about the Vita being geared to be a massive success, but more recently with the Switch he's stated time and time again that there was little-to-no interest in it and that it would sell 15-20 million units over it's lifespan.

If you think about it, there are a lot of framey games on the highest reviewed list. The GTA games, OOT, Halo and GoldenEye are some that out.

I'm always amazed when people paint Colin moriarty as some all encompassing encyclopedia of gaming knowledge. The guy has an incredibly limited gaming palate and just shits on anything that is outside of his narrow interests. It's not enough for a thing to not appeal to him. No, he has to rant for 25 minutes about how terrible and wrong you are for not sharing his limited imagination and taste.

I don't like real time strategy games but I'm not going to write a whole thesis about how it's flawed genre and you're a terrible person for disagreeing. He's like a gamefaqs troll with slightly better vocabulary.

And he's completely myopic to his limitation.

The weird thing is a lot of us used to be fans who got turned off by the way he deals with constructive criticism. But because of that we are "Haters."

Trump seems to have woken him up to what a real threat to the US looks like.

He sort of turned a corner on a lot of his BS in the past twelve months; he admitted he was too critical of Obama, started supporting Black Lives Matter (sort of), thinks Trump's travel ban is bigoted and unhelpful.

Though I'm sure he still believes plenty of questionable stuff; I don't follow him that closely.

Aside from mildly disliking trump he seems to be exactly the same person. He was never woke and is still extremely right wing.

And many right wingers who didn't like him didn't because he is and always was a conspiracy theorist. Which is weird, you'd think a conspiracy wacko would love Trump.

It's just part of his new career. You can't be an alt-right mouthpiece without lots of people hating you. They wouldn't trust anyone that the majority of people don't hate. It's why he's playing up being the victim to show them he's "a good egg" aka a "fashy goy" as they like to say.

Glad I'm not the only one who noticed this. I always kind of suspected that the only reason he seemed optimistic about the Switch at first was so that he could then turn around and shit all over it while saying "and I was excited for this thing!" It pisses me off when he says "there's only 2 interesting games coming for the Switch in 2017," like it's some objective fact.

I mean this is coming from the same guy who wouldn't even acknowledge Gravity Rush 2 as a game that exists . Are you surprised?

Man you guys seem like your revelling in his departure put down the pitchforks guys if its anyone who should be getting stick its gregfor putting out that vomit inducing pr piece throwing colin under thw bus over a fucking tweet that was a good joke imo

Didn't colin write that though? Or atleast take part in the writing of it? Either way, no reason to shit on greg.

I am not even a Nintendo fan and his attitude towards Swtich completely pissed me off.
Dislike the system all you want, but there's no reason to be a dick about it.
Did the same thing to Pro and made me feel like I was some geek, shallow, tech junkie for wanting the best hardware and caring about 4K.

But still, I'll miss him, I just hope he matures into a better person. Honestly, I can't see how you fall on either side of politics, I always find something pretty b/s in policies, and then how do you even trust the people that say they will enact those policies? Crazy, I would never say I swing this way or any other, it's a broken system.

To clarify, you're saying "fucking tweet" because things said on twitter automatically have less weight to them?

Colin was the one who put his colleagues and friends in a shitty position thanks to his trolling. And he knew exactly what he was doing. Greg was just trying to protect Kinda Funny, he did nothing wrong.

I bounced off the KF super fast due to everyone on that show spouting uninformed conjecture as objective fact, then doubling down on it. I find the entire crew over there to be insufferable.

the most confusing thing is this post is that you thought that joke was good

To be fair, Greg has really come around on the Switch. After the January event, he was right there with Colin saying things like "Nintendo needs to just go 3rd party, this thing looks awful." But over the past week or so all he's been talking about is how much he loves Zelda and the Switch.

Wowowow. I just looked up the Nintendo/BotW clip.

the funniest part was the Splatoon shade because he's one of the people who tends to bang the "Nintendo needs to go 3rd party because their software would sell better on more successful hardware" gong

Genuinely curious, what about it was funny? Like I get that a lot of people found it funny and I like comedy myself but I didn't even smirk.

Like is it funny because women are supposed to be loud and obnoxious, or is it funny because he said that and women AREN'T inherently loud and obnoxious?

Yes Colin i am sure Nintendo games get the "Nintendo Bump" just like StarFox Zero,Fedration Force and Amiibo festival did. Its good to know that you can tell just by playing for 30 minutes and not even leaving the tutorial area in Zelda.

harsh criticisms. Tim seems like a good solid dude. I wouldn't call him vapid at all.
I think you have to separate the person from the content. He's a good dude but let's just say he wouldn't be on camera if he was at other sites at least not yet in his career.

I can't tell if you're being silly with the "I like comedy myself but I didn't event smirk".

It's a lame joke that plays on stereotypes of women chattering incessantly about nonesense. It's the kind of joke you say to a woman you know well to purposely get a bit of rise of out them (if I said this to my wife she would give me a smack and call me a dickhead). Had he not had a history of trying to undermine events like women's day, it would have been met with some eye rolls I would think.

1) It was a good joke? Are you from the 50's and have hidden biases? Do you need a joke book or some links to some comedians?

2) Greg did it to save his company from a bad look and to try and clean up his partner's mess. Colin helped edit the vomit inducing PR piece. Your god has forsaken you.

3) I'm okay with spelling mistakes, I'm okay with run-on sentences... but give me some punctuation, at least something.

4) He has a pattern of superiority and a pattern of trying to upset people to get a rise out of them. What does that say about him?

All the misinformed bullshit you just spewed has been addressed ad nauseam in this thread, try and keep up.

Also, if you want to talk about pitchforks, how about you take it up with all the "i stand with Colin" loons who have been throwing fits and downvoting KF videos en masse all because people dared to criticize their equally thin skinned fearless leader on twitter. What special snowflakes they are.

What? Have you seen what people make exuses for? Just about every game under the sun?

And then Bethesda still exists and still gets high scores.

The only thing I feel Nintendo gets a pass on is graphics capabilities. Many people often test a low powered Nintendo system as if "the graphics aren't what's important. It's the gameplay that matters." But I don't feel people treat the PS4 or Xbox One as graphics machines where gameplay doesn't matter. Nintendo games do often have great art design and aren't bad looking games, but their hardware clearly holds back certain aspects.

I was really looking forward to hearing what he had to say about zelda, but all he did was shit on it compared to horizon. They are pretty different games apart from certain similarities. I think thats what kind of annoyed me about him even though i loved the work him and greg put out. As much as he would bemone the stagnation of games and new ways to play. When games that were genuinley trying interesting mechanics like zelda, the last guardian, or gravity rush would come out he would hardly give it the time of day, hell tlg and gr were ps exclusives and he barely said anything about them.

Wow, the loony extremism in this thread... 100+ pages of nonsensical frothing at the mouth.

Colin, you'll be missed. One of the smartest and most reasonable people in the biz.
