Nintendo switch brilliant ad in magazine

Seems like standard ads in magazines

I wouldn't call them "brilliant". 2/3 are just cover art with a different text overlay but whatever makes you happy OP

Did Nintendo forget to tell the marketeers that they delayed Mario Kart and Arms to pad out the Switch's launch window?

Ads suck considering they assume the reader already knows about the Switches features. Nothing on the ad shows that the Switch is a handheld console, it's just sitting in its dock turned off.

Huh, some people really grade Nintendo on a curve.

It seems almost everyone grades their favorite console/game company on a curve. We see it here every day. People justify horrible anti-consumer behavior, missing features, and pretend that glaring bugs don't exist in games. There is often a serious lack of objectivity.

Don't try to make it a "Nintendo" thing, as that comes across as fanboyish as well.

I still find it weird whenever I see Switch commercials that advertise stuff like Splatoon 2 and ARMS by showing people playing them and then at the end showing the boxes for the games like they are available now.

Man do we really need a post dedicated to adds?

Are adds not in your face enough already? Do you, work for Nintendo?

I literally just see an ad. Their is nothing special about them.

Fanboys, man...

Fanboys gonna fanboys I guess... Weird thread.

I see we've now passed subtle advertising threads and now are now just posting advertising

..

How about some of you guys just don't click on the thread? You knew what it was going to be about..

I think they're pretty good. People don't need the exact functionality rammed down their throats. Something eye catching will spark an interest for someone to do their own bit of research

Actually I had to think twice to realize what it meant.

If I didn't know the Switch could also be a portable device already, I wouldn't get what it means.
My thinking, as well.

I spent a good amount of time looking at that Zelda ad trying go figure it out. I kept wondering if there was a pun I was missing or something.

These magazine ads suck. Like they are just dumb and lazy. They could do so much better. Even the idea to do mad magazine fold ins would be more creative

I came in expecting to see a "brilliant" case of marketing.

I got photos of magazine pages with nothing amazing about them. They aren't funny, or creative, or special. It is like any other advertisment.

Similar to their subway train ads, which say the same thing but with more words.

This train was plastered with Switch ads.
Zelda ad is great

I find these ads decidedly unappealing and unimaginative. They wouldn't, in any way, encourage me to purchase a Switch if I wasn't already interested.

(I already own a switch)

What can you expect of people with post history like this:

BEST PSX EVER!!!!!

THIS E3 AND PSX!!!! SONY IS ON A FUCKING ROLL!!!!!!!!!!

/s

It's one thing to not like the ad, but accusing OP of working for Nintendo is a bit overboard. This is exactly why Shinobi left. OP can like the ad without having ulterior motives.

But we did actually have cases in the past where an OP had ulterior motives. If you think this is overboard then grow thicker skin.

Maybe one game was good for E3 but its not good enough for marketing campaigns, no matter how good it is.

I really like the Zelda/Switch ad that's on TV. It's almost shocking to see such a good ad for a Nintendo product.

Meh, they're alright. Sort of basic for print ads.

That picture for the first ad sucks, does it literally say "Hyrule Home"?

Edit: Also, Game Informer, whatever. Not sure why I was expecting a non-gaming magazine.
