Nintendo 3DS Game Footage Video Reel

Mario Kart looks great and exactly what people should expect from the system. People are fucking mental.

There's a question of how playable it will be in 3D, what with the fact that if you tilt the screen too much in any direction but forward and back, you lose the 3D effect (and it goes blurry).

Is it confirmed to use the gyroscope? The Cube games worked just fine--better, really--with an analog stick.

Fake edit: Apparently both options will be available.

I'm impressed by Capcom. Not impressed by Nintendo, though. You'd think they would be the ones to demonstrate the power of the system.

People who think Mario Kart looks bad probably don't even play Mario Kart. It looks like Mario Kart would on a next gen system. I dig it.

Resident Evil looks fucking amazing. Hell, we'd be more likely to see a port of RE5 on 3DS before we would ever see it on Wii based on these movies.

Ridge Racer looks like crap, but it's based on the iPhone version.

Monkey Ball returning puts a smile on my face :)

Capcom is going to stomp everyone early on. It pays to have a capable engine apparently. Thank's for MT Framwork. If they license that thing for the 3DS they will make a mint.

If you'd have told me those Resident Evil gifs were from a new Wii game, I'd have believed you AND have been impressed.

Therefore, Nintendo (and capcom) have succeeded.

granted, I doubt Nintendo devs know much about shaders

also, this was funny with the music (and fix this please)

I've said it since E3, we'll see third parties outstrip Nintendo for a while in the graphics department on the 3DS.
Simply because third parties have been developing with these kinds of tools for years, and Nintendo has not.
Still, SE and Ubisoft should feel ashamed by how badly Capcom is destroying them.
Their efforts look like slightly better Dreamcast games.

Holy Moly Capcom is wiping the floor with every other third party developer so far. That SSFIV port looks fantastic as do the Resident Evil games. Ridge Racer looks pathetic. :lol

Nintendo has never worked with this kind of power before whereas Capcom and Konami have years of experience. It's not surprising at all.

I'm wondering if Namco's history of half arsed Nintendo launch games is due to the bitterness that's been there ever since Nintendo built their empire on the back of a Pac-Land ripoff.

Well, the reason seems to be that Nintendo doesn't currently have engines that can use modern shader architecture and they are using so far GC/Wii and DS/N64 engines and assets. While Capcom ported MT framework (one of the best engines this gen) over.

They are almost there....

Indeed! But is that an IPod port or something? Resident Evil 3DS already looks better than that IMO.
Well, I believe is the difference between a game designed from the ground for the system and a downport. Kinda like Comparing Mafia 2 PS3 to Infamous 2.

I wonder how long until Activision ropes n-Space into doing Call of Duty 3DS.

I wonder if they're already on it. They could probably pull in crazy sales if they managed to make the US launch.

We shall see, I think they will play very differently in terms of number of enemies on screen and environment size. The downported areas from RE5 look pretty faithful too.

They already have some RE5 environments running on the 3DS in the form of the Mercenaries game so yeah it could be possible to have an RE5 port on 3DS.

Edit: beaten

They are just setting you up to be wowed when they actually make a first party big game for it.

Looked very early in development in the video reel.

Forget CoD.
Remake Geist for the 3DS.

At the 3DS's actual resolution.[/QUOTE]

That's more like it!

I wasn't impressed with any of it outside of Capcom's stuff. Nintendo should be kissing their asses right now because it seems like they are the only company trying to show what the hardware is capable of. The rest of the games more or less looks like it could be done on a regular DS or a PSP.

still can't run the title screen though

Well, yes, but that's still like a year away.
Chocobo Racer/Battle game is just ass, and I love the Chocobo games.
:(

h.a.n.d. must not have the people to make higher poly models. the enviroments look fine, but the character models could benefit from a few more polygons or better texturing. has h.a.n.d. worked on anything higher than a DS?

My main problem with 3ds graphics is that, where NDS had his own style for minimalistic 3D, that was original and cute, 3ds games just looks like ... other devices... Fortunately there is 3D.

Ridge Racer is pretty much the only game that fits the bolded. I've got no quams with people being bummed with many of the games, as to each their own, but pretty much all of them are miles ahead of the DS.

Some people seem to have forgotten how the DS looks.

Well, limiting the game to smaller areas and AI numbers falls into designing from the ground. ;)

The only two games that look like they could have been done on a DS were that Baseball game and Ridge Racer.

Graphically the iPhone will surpass the 3DS at some point (like that Epic's game), but control wise, it will never be the same. iPhone games = clutter screen, clunky control.

There really shouldn't be any at all is my point. You don't think the DS could handle Zelda and StarFox? And I did say either PSP or DS...though I will concede that its more the former than the latter.

A bit unfair, Capcom on on iOS is the equivalent of Ubisoft on the 3DS. Also, in before EpicCidadel.gif.

Yer right...3DS is light years behind... we should be ashamed

I feel as though showcasing video of this portable is pointless - the perceived image quality could be something radically different with the 3D effect.

That said, this video is unimpressive. Looks like a baby step above the PSP, if there's any progress had at all.
