I'm still gonna wait for a sale and when the PC port is no longer a garbage fire. I hear there's some effort that's been made towards the latter, but it still doesn't seem to be worth buying yet.

No hardware config can do locked 60 fps without stutters. So, is not fine.

I get that...its why I said as long as you are okay with 30 fps (on which is probably the most responsive 30 fps game I have ever played) every other bit runs great

Lol. The most responsive 30 fps game? Until very recently it was possibly the most unresponsive 30 fps game. They only very recently fixed the ~200 ms input lag when playing at 30 fps

Why does everytime something gets posted it turns in a performance thread. Uch.

On topic. Looking forward to the reveal tomorrow. Really curious how they do the physics.

Yep it was abysmal and I couldn't believe people saying how they were enjoying it at 30fps pre patch.

I locked it to 30 for a bit for taking 4k screenshots and it was much better now, but still a far cry from 60 even with the stutter.

Because a lot of us have this game on PC and it STILL isn't fixed, hopefully this patch will make the performance complaint posts go away :)

I realize it's probably old hat by now, but everyone (including MS themselves) needs to be reminded that quite a few people don't want to purchase this game no matter how good it is because MS and Playground inexcusably shit the bed with the PC version. The PC port should not be running nearly as poorly as it does.

God knows I'd absolutely love to play this game, but not at sub-par framerates, and I certainly don't want to support bad ports. Playground needs to fix the performance or they and MS aren't getting any money from me, period.

Thats fine and everything and think they know by now. But with every thread about Horizon 3 wich is new. You first need to read 30 posts about the PC port instead of the actual news.

On topic: Just 2 more days!

Off topic: FH3 PC performance is weird. It can run at 8K/30 on one 1080TI, but can't reliably hit 60 fps regardless of resolution. Hopefully the new update/Scorpio being added to the mix this fall helps iron out issues like that.

Well, it doesn't really matter what kind of content comes along if it's almost unplayable on one of the major platforms for most people regardless of what hardware setup you're using. I'd rather Playground be focusing on fixing performance issues and optimising performance before working on DLC (granted, that's what they should've been doing before release, again, the state of the game at launch was inexcusable), but that's obviously not how AAA studios do things.

I know. But we have a dedicated section for that. I am not blind to the problem.
But it doesnt need to get the overhand in every thread when a new thread pops up with news when that thread is about the news.
Its gets abit annoying if you what i mean. The same i am sure its gets annoying for people who have a problems still with the pc version and its still no fixed.

I think you'd feel a bit differently about this if you purchased this on PC.

Which is funny given the current nararive.

"Why buy an Xbox One I can play these games on my PC." -> "The windows store is horrible, these games dont run great" *repeat*

What narrative?

And TBH It's only really Horizon 3 that runs like crap. Forza 6 Apex, Gears 4 and even now Gears Ultimate Edition all run great.

PG really let me down with this one.

I have it on PC and nah...it get's tiresome to see it in every thread. I know the idea behind it that yeah the developers should fix it. But it's in every Horizon 3 thread, and it usually ends up being a big focus of discussion instead of the actual news.

That being said I do really hope the DLC and patch mentioned by Helious actually makes improvements to the PC version as they promised.

Ive been playing since launch 75% on pc vs xbox. I havent noticed stuttering since the first few patches. I have super hardware yes, but if there is still stuttering I guess maybe my gsync monitor is saving me from it.

The game plays fine on both my desktop and my gaming laptop which is only a gtx 1060.(though that has gsync monitor as well)

Yup. Gears 4 and Apex run perfectly maxed out on my PC.

Horizon 3 however runs like player 2 has a controller plugged in and keeps pressing pause to fuck with me.

The stuttering is definitely still there, but it's been significantly reduced by the various updates. For example it's nowhere near as bad as something like the Crew, and people tend to overstate just how smooth a lot of its competitors are. (Including Forza 6 Apex, which has hitching too! It's also present in Forza 6 on X1, suggesting a deeper engine issue.)

I understand people complaining about the game, I wish it ran better and I have high hopes for this new update, but the hyperbole here -- particularly of its current state -- does get a little obnoxious.

Anyway, can't wait to try out this new expansion. I generally dislike 'loop racers' like Trackmania, but if anybody can do the concept to my tastes it's definitely Playground.

Yep, for me personally, my solution to the problem has been with a mixture of gsync and locking the framerate. For some reason the game simply can't maintain a locked fps over 60. I have a really good system as well. 1080ti 6700k.. and the dropped framerate doesn't usually correlate with what's happening on screen.. it can be so random.

So the game, as we all know, let's you lock the framerate at fractions of your refresh rate. With a 60hz monitor you can lock your fps to 30... which is fine, but running at 30fps on a 60hz monitor with vsync causes increased input latency, to which some were complaining was too high. I never experienced this myself, but it's obvious that at a lower fps and refreshrate you're going to have higher input lag. So with a gsync/freesync monitor at 144hz, you can lock your game at 48fps, and turn vsync off I did that, and of course... the game runs great, and there is less input lag.

So my PC was running the game no problem at 48fps, never ever dropping below that, so then I decided to put the monitor to 165hz, and try locking the game to 55fps. Sure enough, I was able to keep the fps locked at 55hz, and with gsync active and not requiring any vsync, it felt just like 60fps and of course felt even more responsive than 48fps.

Trying to lock it at 72fps (144hz) was just not going to work because it would drop below 72 while in surfers paradise, as well as other random times/areas... and leaving it unlocked would be sporadic and stuttery as well. The game can be running fine, but the second it drops even 1 frame below your set locked framerate, it gets stuttery and uneven feeling.

So yea, at 55fps, I have what feels like 60fps with no stuttering issues. The game feels flawless, and is more responsive than it feels on my XO. So I find it's the best way to play the game in my situation. But hopefully the patch that releases with the Hot Wheels expansion fixes these framerate issues and we can run the game either unlocked or at a locked 60fps or higher.

The Windows Store is a dumpster fire and the number of people using it is likely abysmal. It is not surprising they have not resolved the CPU issues at this point.

The input lag at 30fps is 100% fixed? If true I'm definitely going to pick up the expansion pass. I never really got perfect performance on a 4760k/1070. Couldn't reach 60 and with the 30fps lock I had horrendous input lag.

Never really put as much time into the game as the previous two due to performance problems.

I still have to play the previous expansion but I can't believe how good this looks

If Playground wanted a break from Horizon they could just do a full How Wheels game i don't mind

Wow you guys.

The tracks are too wide and offer no challenge from watch I watched. This, for me, is boring. Also, anything slower than S1 class will feel extremely slow due to the track size.

And I hate jumps in racing games. At least in Hot Wheels Turbo Racing you could do tricks during that, but here, miss one and it's goodbye to your race.
