Uncharted 4, though it was a teaser not a gameplay.

I know the game was canned but Deep Down reveal looked much better than the gameplay we saw afterwards, and I might misremember but Infamous reveal also looked better than the final game (which looked amazing in 2014 no doubt, though very "dead" and with a minimal scale for an open world title), but it wasn't too bad to be an actual controversy.

Wasn't Bloodborne suffered from a downgrade as well? even though initial trailer doesn't look better than Horizon and U4 so it is possible if FROM had the budget or/and skill technically but still.
So, at most, one example.

I'm not convinced. Insomniac got this.

The doubters in here concerning the Spiderman stuff really are a testament to why it's so important to have high quality post processing effects in games (motion blur and DOF etc.) Gives a game dat CG feel.

We also got a snippet verifying these graphics during the PS4 Pro announcement, where you can see a few unfinished things. Take note of the taxi close to the screen not switching to a higher detail model, minimal texture filtering on road, and the clear flat buildings in the far distance. The first two points you would expect to be improved.

It's absolutely incredible. We are what, 4-5 years into this gen and visually every single PS4 exclusive game was delivered or surpassed their visuals yet people have STILL have doubts.

Insomniac has already proven they can make games with incredible visuals and one of them is an open world game(SO). Not sure why we are comparing developers who continue to prove they are capable of great visuals to Ubisoft, they are not Ubisoft.

Staying outta this conversation because I'm not in that studio so idk what they're doing or capable of enough to try and call them out

So Dreams and days gone hype!!

Also here for the Dreams hype, DAY FUCKING 0!
DREAM TEAM

There are still so many negative sentiments surrounding Dreams, whether it's due to its supposed lack of commercial prospects, the elongated development cycle or what it is you actually do in it (its whole concept really isn't as abstract as some people make it out to be). And yet I can't help but feel that MediaMolecule are going to knock it out of the park with another masterpiece come release day. The only time MM came close to letting me down was with Tearaway Unfolded, but that was an unnecessary port and the original game didn't belong on the PS4 in the first place. LBP, LBP2 and Tearaway are all excellent games in my mind, and I think the best is still yet to come. Dreams is going to surprise a lot of people.

Even after all this time, I'm still unsure as to what exactly Dreams is. Is it essentially just a movie maker? A 3D Platformer? I've heard them say it's an evolution of LBP.

To me it looks like it is exactly the concept of LBP, except you create the assets yourself and have 3 dimensions to work with. I imagine if there is a single player campaign that it would essentially be a "here's what you could do with the tools in this game" type of thing like LBP. I could be wrong though, I haven't been following it too closely.

I think this is gameplay:

But this has to be a cutscene/scripted event. There is no way that you can control your movements that precisely in a tight space like that.

Aye, it's essentially LBP, but the player isn't tethered to a 2D platforming core. You can make anything it seems. It all sounds incredibly ambitious, which is probably why it's taking so long to get made.

I have so many ideas for Dreams. I can't wait to get my hands on the beta.

You and me both, I can't wait for the inevitable Dreams Gaf thread where we all show the things we have made or been working on. It's going to be such an amazing thread to go through. I'm going to live in that thread lol.

Yeah probably. I'm curious to see what context this scene is in. I know people were suggesting it might be like the earlier Assassin Creed games where you could run through a building to escape being chased and an automatic animation would play, but Spidey here gives those poor people sitting next to the window a face full of shattered glass lol

I suppose theres a small chance they could surprise us and have a system whereby it detects the nearest objects and does some random acrobatics off them when you are moving. Maybe jumping towards a window and he automatically does a web smash through like that.

Considering marvel talked up vr and hinted to have many vr game stuff I expect Spider-Man to have a vr mode for psvr. Star Wars battle front 2 and spider-man psvr seem like good mass market products to promote and sell psvr.

Am I missing something because that gif is not some mindblowing gameplay that cant be done on current gen. It seems like a simple back flip+ jump. What makes you guys think it's not possible?

I think that if it was GG's next game or ND's than people would easily believe it, imo people are skeptical that Insomniac can achieve such visuals that are on par with Sony's most talented studios.

Maybe the controls there are just "press forward or backwards to walk over tables / crash the window, and optionally jump to do cool context sensitive animations (in this case does one when jumping to another table and another jumping to a column)".

So secret...

Now I want to watch Escaflowne again...thanks!

On-topic, holy hell Spiderman looks amazing. For some reason, these gifs are impressing me more than the reveal trailer...even though they're the same thing. It's like, seeing it in action over and over makes me realize how fluid and pretty the whole thing looks.

It is essentially an evolution of LBP.

You can be creative and make your own dreams: from scripted view-only sequences using puppetry to interactive games in all genres.

If you don't want to be creative you can:
a) Play through the full length MM developed campaign consisting of a good sequence of "levels" (dreams). These dreams will likely be quite varied or perhaps instead of one campaign there will be several shorter similarly themed campaigns.
b) Play through dreams created by other people and seamlessly move from one dream to the next.

My guess is that you will be able to string together dreams in a chosen sequence and publish that for people to play through. e.g. Find all the dreams related to night-time or emotion and put them in a sequence to lead the player on a journey.

Is there anyway that Sony doesn't win E3 this year? even if they only show new trailers/gameplay for stuff they already announced (they'll announce something but if) it will still be a pretty amazing conference.

Really hope we see more of Dreams and Days Gone. Looking forward to PD as well, a Gran Turismo E3 trailer is almost always epic.

They won't win the show without any new announcement most probably, you can't beat a megaton from Nintendo or a couple of megatons from MS just by showing new stuff from your already announced games, it can never be as exciting and gather as much hype.

However there is no chance anyone would argue that the PS4 has the best upcoming line up regardless, I find it hard to believe both MS and Nintendo can currently compete with them when talking about the overall line up regardless of what each will announce, so imo even if someone else would win E3 this time, most will still acknowledge Sony's overall line up as the best.

It depends on where you plant your goalposts.

Microsoft or Nintendo can "win" by showing new stuff since they currently have nothing massive in the near future. Sony can "win" with lots of new content for all the announced games but to some it would be a lose since nothing new was shown.

I would say it's likely. Nintendo and Microsoft have a lot to prove this year. The Switch is off to a strong start but if E3 is weak confidence for potential buyers will drop a lot. If they come out swinging people will keep buying. They will need some new announcements to keep interest.

Microsoft is launching a new console but that's not enough. They need games, and I would argue games are more important than the console being exciting. They also need some megatons to get people excited.

Sony is going to have a very good show but they don't have as much riding as the other guys. Unless they have some amazing secrets ready to go I don't know if their show will be the best. But even if they just show stuff that's already been announced it should be a good conference. The other guys have to bring something new to the table.

No, because it's not. It's a proof of concept.

Tales from your ass.

The Division/ Watch Dogs/ other shit reveals were also made an "in engine" thing to look like real gameplay, and if we go even further (not saying this is the case here), Killzone 2 reveal was a CGi that was made to look like gameplay.

So yea this doesn't prove anything really.

LMAO, Killzone 2 is still being brought up 12 years later.

Some people are expecting Sony being complacent this year which is crazy. It's harder being on top.

I think this is a key year for PS4 so I think Sony will kill again.

Dozens of Zombies, Kratos with Beard, Naked Norman Reedus, Peter Parker, John Marston 2.0, A tool which you can create dreams, A.I's in Detroit, New IP from Studio with superpowers.

Sony gonna nuke it.

They just have to show me a gameplay trailer of shenmue 3 and they win.

All I know is that I expect Sony to have a big show as usual.

I don't know what to expect from Nintendo but I hope they come through big. I have low expectations for MS so they could end up being the surprise from E3.

They can't have a good show just by showing the exact same games from last year

I think Nintendo is gonna go extra hard software-wise to compete from here on.
