I hope they added an aura over some of her other moves as well. An elephant for a stomping move, a bird for a jump attack, things like that.

It might be worse than Khan. He's got these giant tentacles that Id on't think you can block that just burst out of the ground and do a free 50% damage and takes reduced damage on top of it. I'm wondering if getting him down the first bar causes a story event to trigger but I haven't even gotten that far against him.

Story Impressions:

-Consistently surprised how well animated it is in cutscenes: Ivy, Harley and Catwoman especially. Someone on the team is a big fan of the Gotham City Sirens. Facial expressions look pretty natural even if actual script and direction is a dud sometimes. Hair looks terrible in most occasions.

-No QTEs

-They definitely cut a good deal of I1's story, for the better. There's no mention of superman drugs (though they say he was fought with 'nano-technology'), or another superman stepping in to fix everything that went wrong. Basic timeline seems to be Metropolis bombed, Superman killed Joker, went bad, at least killed Shazam and Lex Luthor (who is missed), was defeated cause Flash defected, WW and black adam worked with him and ran off, the rest got locked up, Flash was pardoned but forced to retire, I2 starts.

Needless to say, this is a huge improvement over where I1's story was going, and it's lot easier to follow than 1's story of multiple earths and superman drugs. I don't even think they mention anything about Green Arrow's plot in the first one but he's here and with Black Canary in tow and they have an entertaining chapter.

-Like the human Kung Lao or spectral Scorpion in MKX, it seems Joker was just put in cause he's a fan favorite and has little to nothing to do as far as actually being a player in the plot.


-I know little about this new incarnation of Blue Beetle and Firestorm, but they're handled pretty well, and come off as young and inexperienced a lot better than the 'techni-cool kidz' of MKX did.

I think it's their best campaign yet, surpassing MK9.

I would say 11/10 batwank. Believe me I am not a Batman hater but he defeated Aquaman with Trident, Black Adam, Wonder Women in hand to hand combat in Canon ending.

If the final fight in story mode is Shao Kahn like, like in that game (and the rest since) you could lower the difficulty and that doesn't change the rewards you get. Unless that changed in this one.

oh yes. even on very easy, its a pain. he has two attacks that take 60% of your health (and he can combo them...).

I'm always around I'm a stay at home spouse. I should be around Tuesday morning it depends my wife works nights so I'm usually up till about 1 or two in the afternoon but I'll be up by 7 that night. Firestorm and Robin but I also really like what I've seen of Vixen I loved her in Legends of Tomorrow. That's until Red Hood comes out at which point I'll forget there are any other characters in the game.

It's rough the few days before release. People are anxious to post spoilers of any type for whatever reason. Even tagged, it's tough to trust it. Unfortunate that the discussion can't stay on topic.

hard to hear that its just 6 hours average long..

So you're getting multiple premium-length DC animated movies stuck atop a fighting game. On top of the main reason to play, the gameplay. Not disappointing at all. The fact you're getting multiple $20 dollar Blu-Rays worth of voicework and animation out of the characters always feels like a solid return.

Thanks for the impressions. Beyond just QTE's, I found the mini-games in IJ1 to be pretty lacking in feel; living tower-style mutators in matches we decent, but they just didn't do a good job at making things like dodging bots or such feel fun.

How's the balance of playing the characters in the story? One thing I hated about IJ1 is that the difficulty was ridiculous in the story, as in some battles felt like you killed the opponent before you even learned what your character was suppose to do / be about, and others were so hard without that knowledge, that it made fighting a chore, rather than a nice way to get to know the characters of the game.

I agree, with you and 2n2. Remember that a lot of people looking forward to story mode have not been able to play the game yet so be considerate, everyone. I kind of wish there was a separate spoiler thread for those who want to discuss these topics so the rest of us aren't avoiding pre release discussion in fear of being spoiled. Who's with me? Lol.
