NYT: Comey Memo Says Trump Asked Him to End Flynn Investigation

I'd say the firing of Comey is the beginning of the end of this. The end could still take many months though.

Even in the case of Nixon I believe it took like 2 years from when the Watergate stuff broke out before he eventually resigned.

The hilarious thing about all this would be if it comes out that Trump really had no connections to Russia.

He screwed his own presidency because he's a moron.

True but that was before people were bombarded with information 24/7. They're not going to be able to stretch it out like without the GOP doing massive damage to itself. Even more than what has already been done. Anyway, if everything is true, Watergate pales in comparison.

So usually you would expect the FBI-director to inform the DoJ, the senate or the house no?

Just a speculation of course, but could it be that he felt it would impeade the investigation? That he would be replaced by a stooge if he did?

I mean we know Session had contact with the russians and quite possibly is under investigation. So one would assume he would run straight to Trump if Comey told him .

We know the house committee most likely is or at least was comprised due to Nunes' shannigans.

Cant speak to the Senate Committee. Is there any rumours of dubious stuff going around there?

Yeah but it's pretty obvious there was something with Russia going on. It may not have been full collusion, but there was too much smoke

If this administration keeps up with this pace Trump will either be impeached or the US will be a lawless wasteland by 2019. A full term just isn't in the cards at this point.

No one should have been assuming a result now or before now, imo.

It was yelling in an office with Trump in it near press. There have been leaks of trump aides saying the man is insane before as well.

Not saying what he's saying is 100% true, but rather that there's more than enough precedent to make this not a leap of faith to believe.
Please read your source again. It does not say Trump was in the room.

If you believe random unverified tweets, and also misinterpret what news stories from tabloids are actually saying, you are falling into the same problem that many on the right have with fake news. If there is no precedent to Jon Cooper being right in the past, you have no reason to believe his tweet. He could even be joking (possible, since he's tweeting about Trump dementia) and you would be in a worse position than the fake news crowd--believing in joke tweets that were not meant to be considered real reporting.

Trump is now trying to see if impeachment can be settled out of court.

"I wasn't guilty of anything, OK? I resigned and was pardoned by Pence. I was never found guilty of anything, period. It was all fake news Democrats came up with because they were bitter about losing the election. I was going to make America great again until they came around and screwed it up."

We've hoped this a for about 100 news stories so I'm not getting that excited but the real hope is that the approval rating bombs on trump and causes Republicans to ditch him

Today feels radically different. Today is the only day where meaningful numbers of republicans have seen the writing on the wall. Might still take ages but Tuesday the 16th has felt pivotal in terms of tone.

So basically, trump is the guy who gets pulled over for a busted turn signal, but freaks out and starts an hour-long high-speed chase.

He definitely has ties to Russia. Like proven ones. Even the house purchase reeks to high heaven.

The number of calls for violence and veiled 2nd amendment tweets I've read today is disturbing as it is. This type of bullshit isn't helping anyone. Someone yesterday mentioned to watch for the next step, which would be openly dehumanizing the opposition and openly questioning the value of their lives.

It feels absurd to think that widespread violence could occure, and I hope I'm insane for entertaining these thoughts, but the polarization is real and nothing really surprises me anymore.

There you go numble... discredit that unverified yelling.

Just remember, with each revelation and day, the odds are rising against them, and if it think it is a "fight" that must occur, it will end two ways: Them surrendering and retreating back to the shadows and cracks where they came from, or them being chopped down, crushed and buried. Either way is fine by me.

I think you'll see a lot of what we saw during the Obama administration - a few independent actors that, sadly, are going to hurt and/or kill a few innocent people but I doubt this is going to lead to much. If Trump's this far out of the mainstream I doubt his base is going to get a whole lot of lip service outside of a few nutcases.

That did just make me think - the GOP already had to distance themselves from Bush, now they'll have to do the same thing with Trump, only more severely. Couldn't have happened to a nicer bunch of limp-dick assholes.
