NYT: Comey Memo Says Trump Asked Him to End Flynn Investigation

Perfect. My pro-Trump father and I had an argument about this today, and he said that he won't believe the memo exists until he sees it himself.

You should say the following to your dad:

"WHEN the Memo comes out, what dumb excuse are you gonna use next? Everyone knows that Comey is a republican, so don't even try to claim that Comey is secretly helping the Dems unless you want to look really fucking desperate."

I just realized that Comey reminds me of G-man.

If there's something bigger than that and it hits now he's gotta be fucking done.

Nah, it's like that manga Bleach. It's gonna be 20 chapters of attack, bullshit counter, counter-counter, bullshit counter-counter-counter... until someone in charge steps in and forces a resolution.

It could be they've just followed the money.

I'm now imagining Obama dancing as Cuba and Comey as Cruise, follow the money!

What will be his nickname for Comey? He already used Lyin'...

He's not particularly clever. Didn't he already apply "Lyin'" to multiple people? Most of his nicknames seem rather generic, rarely even being alliterative or possessing rhyme.

I don't even know how anything could be worse, unless he's tied to a murder or something.

Finding copies of those documents during the transition in Russian hands.

It wouldn't be the smoking gun, it'd be the tape of the murder with a signed confession.

Eh, even if he killed children or old people or whatever you want, Republicans won't impeach him.

He'd have to personally perform an abortion while receiving sexual favours from an underage boy before he loses support, and even then it'll still hover around 20%.

Those "kiddies" are no worse than the "OMG it's happening" posters. As to why it "feels" like they'd rather Trump stay in office, I'd look at yourself for that answer, because I highly doubt any of them would actually prefer that, given that they're as anti-Trump as anyone else in the thread. They're just pessimistic about the GOP's chances of being adults.

Speaking as someone who's not optimistic about impeachment, much less removal, I'll be thrilled to be wrong. But one requires a House majority, which is extremely unlikely, and the other requires a 2/3 vote in the Senate, which is an order of magnitude less likely than the first. It's not immaturity, it's simple math: as long as Trump's approval among Republicans is high, it's simply not going to happen. Nixon's breaking point was 50% approval within his party. Trump has a long way to go to get in that area, and with Fox News and other right-wing outlets - the only places so many GOP voters get their info - actively obscuring or downplaying Trump's troubles, why would these voters change their minds? They wouldn't seem likely to even if exposed to the news absent being told what to think.

Thank god, someone who actually understands instead of making terrible sarcastic jokes that aren't even funny or clever, insulting me, and calling me a child.

Skepticism is healthy kids.

When I have money, I am so fucking donating to the ACLU.

So, what will the reaction be when (If?) things go down on Trump? I'm talking about the dumbasses that currently frothing over the Seth Rich thing.

Like they can deny and pretend none of this is relevant at all, but once it literally goes down, what's the excuse going to be?

What happens first: HL3 or the GOP being decent human beings?

heat death of the universe.

Also as a german dude: Reading all this is surreal. even a fraction of what Trump does would be political and social suicide here in germany. Christian Wulff(former president) was forced to resign because someone paid him a flight.

Can someone clarify for me how this Comey memo would have been handled? Is it where Comey would get back to his desk and write/type the details of their meeting and then file it away in his desk, along with other memos?

Or is it then given to someone else or another department after completion for storage, scanned and timestamped, etc?

I'm curious about the whole process if anyone can shed some light. Thanks!

The fuck guys, I was watching a series in the last hour and suddenly Fox confirms the existence of the memo? FOX?

Is this some deflection preperation like "The memo isn't that bad", or what?

One thing to add to this is while Fox News and Cuckservative radio keeps sucking at the teet of Trump's rather large torso, it would be political suicide to go into war with him if the facts aren't clear and concise, and in a way they can explain to their constituents.

I'd almost feel bad for Republicans if they weren't already such massive shitheels. There's really no winning scenario for them right now.

This fiasco is about as clear as it can get. There's pretty much no way to look at Trump firing Comey as anything but obstruction of justice, regardless of whether the memo is actually exists.

Okay, what I'm trying to understand is just what is the megabombshell that the ACLU and whoever is running the supposed major news story in the next 24-48 hours, what could it be?

Is it trump on tape molesting children? Because that wouldn't surprise me.

He's a fucking monster.

If it is more evidence of collusion that really isn't a big deal other than just adding to the mountains of evidence that has largely done nothing but create sensational headlines, in a sensational time of unprecedented corruption and collusion. That said, if it lights a fire into an independent investigation that could maybe, given the slightest chance to go somewhere but again unless you can get the Republicans to come to the table to begin talking, it isn't happening.

I imagine something along of the lines of that smacking-chicken-nuggets-out-of-moms- hands-and-asking-how-could-this-happen copypasta.

Fox News just confirmed its existence, is that still not good enough for him? Lol

In person?

Lol.

Did you tell him about Fox News?

It's wild what polarization has done to people. He's trusting a serial liar over the former director of the FBI.

Be ready for the "it's fake" comments once it does come out.

He wants them to show the memo and exactly what it says on television. I'm guessing that even if they do that, he will look at the words and reinterpret it to mean that it doesn't really prove anything.

Dude is a smart guy, I've never seen him this purposefully ignorant before this election.

I know that, you know that, everyone here knows that.

But there is a SIZEABLE portion of this country that won't accept that. Those are the people who are dangerous.

At least he didn't talk about how we're in "THE BRAVE NEW ORWELIAN WORLD" where nothing good happens ever and everybody loses by default.

Also he forgot to mention it also depends on how many liberals come out to vote, which we're seeing happen more and more.

its not an official requirement, rather than something he does if he feels like notes would be important. In this case, it seems like he may have shared or briefed other individuals directly after his trump meeting. Its likely these individuals under oath will support his story.

Liberals couldn't handle Trump winning and fabricated details to get him removed from office.

He would likely keep a copy and give it to his admin assistant at least to file. Whether he would send it to other departments would depend on if they had interest in it, I imagine.

THAT's the thing that will probably amount to nothing among all this.

It's usually the ones that hype up their bombshells that end up turning out as duds.

Must be both a blessing and a curse for the press lately. Having worked real hard on a story only to have the glory snatched away in 25 hours by another story. I hope WaPo Greg's and nyt mike get God damn Pulitzer when this is all said and done

Yup. There are already people on my workplace who are saying this is all a ruse to take him down.

People are fucking stupid. Fantastically, unbelievably stupid. They will contort themselves into a mental pretzel before admitting they made a mistake voting for a misogynistic citrus fruit.

Yeah, exactly. We haven't heard anyone hyping up the big stuff beforehand. They just dropped.

All the hyped stuff has ended up as duds.
