Metroid Prime 4? Not happening. We'll get a new type of Metroid but not this year and it won't be like a Prime game.

Remove Monster Hunter (not this year but will happen), Animal Crossing (too soon for a new AC even with the Wii U being a turd), and no Metroid.

The new Nintendo IP will be vague and everyone will argue over if it is AAA or not.

Downgrade from 5 AAA ports to simply 5 3rd party ports (I'm betting Epic's Fortnite will be one of the ports).

I don't see how AC is too soon. I'd also argue it's likely coming sooner rather than later to try and benefit from the upcoming mobile title

I want to see at least one unannounced, first party-develop, full price switch game that's not a port this E3. It will be kind of disappointing if there's not.

Same tbh

I definitely don't think we'll get another Metroid Prime title, at least soon. But I'm more of leasing thinking we'll see something from the franchise at E3.

I could see Monster Hunter being revealed at TGS if anything.

If a new IP is revealed then I guess it depends on the look if people will dismiss it as a low quality effort. Well I image if it was by Retro people would shut up about it.

My Smash Bros prediction for E3 and beyond

Smash Switch will be a 2018 title and may not even be mentioned during the Direct.

The Smash itch will be covered in 2017 by the VC release of Melee and this will be announced in the Direct.

Smash Switch won't be a ground up developed sequel but will feature much more new content than Mario Kart Deluxe did.

New/returning characters Ice Climbers, Inklings, Spring Man, Bomberman and either Rayman or Rabbids.

Stages from the Wii U and 3DS along with those for the new characters.

Some characters will be given a visual overhaul to match their new games. Link will have a Breath of the Wild costume etc.

What are the chances of Nintendo announcing the Virtual Console at E3 with a "Out now!" kind of thing?

Others might disagree with me but I'm not expecting to see it at E3. It's likely to launch together with their online service later this year which means they can easily talk about it at a later date when it's closer to launch. This is just my speculation though. I can see a few scenarios where they do talk about it at E3 and where it launches before their online service. Not seeing it at E3 just seems the most likely to me right now.

A counter point could be that the VC announcement would create quite a bit of excitement among a certain audience but at this point I'm not sure if Nintendo needs more than they already have this E3.

I'm not including the free trial of their voice chat smartphone app in this speculation. They might talk about that as it will probably launch with or near Splatoon 2.

It's called maturing

Being excited for an event doesn't make you immature.

Him being like this is more likely due to the fact that there hasn't been much to get hyped for yet. Rumors and other content might arrive soon and could create some actual excitement.

I guess most of us gamers haven't matured according to you.

Lol I'm just saying E3s were the highlight of my year since like 7th grade (the year after the TP reveal). I planned them out months in advance. Now another one's coming up already and I'm like "cool, oh shit I still have to finish BotW"

Please no

The Zelda game I've been waiting for since the TP reveal in '04 finally came out. Breath of the Wild is everything I ever wanted.

Maybe somehow that was where the source of all my E3 hype was coming from: that they'd reveal a Zelda that met and exceeded all of my expectations.

Also, it's CRAZY how they didn't reveal their current console at an E3. Modern Nintendo isn't as reliably hypey as they used to be.

Seriously only a possible Metroid can get me hype. Mario I will be hype when its nearing release.

no it is not.

i used to not give a fuck about E3, and learn about the annoucement afterwards, nowadays i take the days off baby

I'm still taking the days off just not excited

Edit: Yeah BOTW makes me not too excited for things anymore. The fact that I still haven't finished it or explored everywhere gives me more than enough satisfaction from Videogames for a very long time I feel. It is THE game.

The idea that SE takes forever with their games only really applies to their Big 3 (FF, KH, DQ). With all of their other games, as well as side games or spinoffs of those franchises, they're pretty efficient. Nier Automata and World of Final Fantasy were respectively a bit more and less than a year and a half since announcement, Star Ocean 5 less than a year, Bravely Default a bit more than a year, I think I Am Setsuna was maybe 6 months. Not that unusual compared to most publishers.

A game like Octopath isn't something that would strike me as "lol not coming out till 2020". That said it's probably not coming this year, but 2018 or 2019 at worst isn't unthinkable.

It's more of updating us with info without going long intervals in-between.

10 things I want from E3 in no order

1) Mario Odyssey - Show me this truly is Mario 64 for the modern age

2) Sell me on paying for a yearly sub - So far I'm like why?

3) VC - Roll this out and give me a way to transfer from Wii U

4) VC Part 2 - Get more 3rd party games ie make it more Wii where we got a fuck ton of 3rd party stuff especially from Square-Enix

5) Indies - Need to see Summer indies with some actual dates

6) Need another big investment game - Zelda is an amazing investment game in terms of time, world, things to do ect... Nintendo needs another game like this to go along with all of the MP stuff like Kart, Splat, and ARMs.

7) Themes - Give me some themes to spruce up my system beyond just black or white background.

8) My Nintendo - Need them Switch Rewards

9) 3ds/Handheld Devs/Games to Switch - Try and get a lot of that traditional Nintendo handheld support over to Switch. Get all of those 3rd party Japanese devs that made GBA, DS, and 3DS titles on Switch

10) Animal Crossing/Pokémon - Get one or both of these titles out as beyond how good they are both titles bring in a wider net in terms of audience. They appeal to female gamers. They appeal to wider age ranges. Help build out the player base which will help the system in the long run

Does Activision have anything announced for Switch currently that we could see at E3? Or that could get announced at E3? I was thinking today that Skylanders Imaginators is the only Activision game that's on the horizon for Switch, but then I learned that apparently that was a launch game for Switch. (I honestly don't recall this releasing, so it must have come and gone quickly.)

I feel like CoD will come to Switch at some point or another. It came to Vita, twice to WiiU.

Modern Warfare Remastered seems like it would be an easy enough port.

So you buy a console for 3 games? I wouldn't do that tbh.

Edit: Wow I'm a Member already? Dayum, been posting for about a month lol.

I pretty much buy Nintendo consoles for 3 franchises: Pikmin, Zelda and Animal Crossing. Anything is gravy for me. That said, Splatoon is quickly ascending into an 'S'-tier Ninety franchise for me.

I'm curious to see how good they can make Pikmin 4 look on Switch hardware.
This is the only Nintendo franchise that makes me sad the Switch didn't end up being a console with ps4 level hardware.

I truly extract the following for Switch at E3:

- an Activision shooter released before Black Friday for Switch.
- another EA game coming before Mar 2018. ( Madden, SW, or PvZ:GW) would be my guess. NHL would also be great.
- Capcom announces something for release before Feb 2018. MH XX or Remake 2?
- Square has a game for this holiday DQXI, DQ builder or World of FF?
- One other sports game is coming to Switch this year. Mario, NASCAR, Madden, NHL, Fishing or Tecmo bowl?
- Ubisoft has one M rated game coming to Switch before Mar 2018
- Smash Bros is a 2018 game
- Namco has at least one more for Switch ( Dark souls, PacMan, or Digimon?)

We will see soon.

It's going to be so hype hearing the ARMS theme at the invitational tournament
I know some people don't like not having a press conference, but I think Nintendo gets it with regards to the invitational. People want to cheer for something or be a part of something or someone "winning" at e3, so doing this allows a great way for that to happen without it coming from forced applause breaks and stilted speeches.

I'm curious to see how good they can make Pikmin 4 look on Switch hardware.
This is the only Nintendo franchise that makes me sad the Switch didn't end up being a console with ps4 level hardware.

I'd love it if they could just improve the textures when zoomed in and improve some of the environmental geometry (which is already pretty good). Other than that, I hope Pikmin embraces more alien-looking worlds. They're done the standard grassy, snowy, sandy, watery environments to death now.

Switch was made for Animal Crossing. That and Metroid would hype me through the roof. May I have one, Nintendo?? That's all I need to pick up a switch this year.
I will get one anyway before the year is out but please...?

Hmm, if Retro isn't working on Metroid, I wonder what they're doing - it would be cool if their new IP was something serious/mature rather than something kid-friendly like everything else Nintendo is doing these days...

... and on that note, I wonder who is doing what with Metroid, if it isn't Retro? Nintendo loves doing something different, and now that it's pretty much failed with both Other M and Federation Force, you have to wonder whether or not they're going back to the drawing board for something new or returning it to a design they've done before. (Prime 3D or Metroid 2D)

My dark horse for Metroid not done by Retro is Croteam. Could be amazing.

From Nintendo, Splatoon 2 and ARMS will be heavily focused on in the tournaments for E3 so I don't expect a ton of time spent on those titles maybe a final trailer for each. Super Mario Odyssey will likely be heavily featured, I could see SSB4D being announced with a release date of early 2018. I think they will reveal Retros new project for first half of 2018. If Retro isn't working on Metroid then I still expect a new Metroid game to be announced for Switch as well. Xenoblade 2 will also likely get some decent spotlight. BotW story DLC trailer could be likely. In general, I expect E3 to fully detail their 2017 lineup with a few big titles releasing in the first half of 2018. They will save more titles to announce for future directs so it won't be a full lineup of 2018. We'll likely also get detailed online plans and VC discussions. Mother 3 could be announced as a VC title for Switch for both the west and east.

From Western 3rd parties, I expect Madden and Fifa from EA, although PvZ would work great with Switch as well. Ubisoft might have Rabbids x Mario up its sleeve, in addition to titles we already know about, they could announce a Switch port of Assassin's Creed. Other than support we already know about from Activision perhaps they'll announce CoD for Switch. There is still Skyrim from Bethesda. Warner Bros. usually has a good relationship with supporting Nintendo. Switch will likely get Legos titles and possibly Arkham Trilogy port. That's what I could see as possibilities in a likely best case scenario. I could see them do an indie focused mini direct or put a spotlight on indies on a different day of the week from their major press conference.

As for Japanese support, if Capcom has a RE title they are porting to Switch they could announce it here. I wouldn't expect them to announce Monster Hunter at E3 but I could be wrong. Other than Dragon Quest titles and the new ip on Switch. I'm not sure we'll see anything else unless SE has some announcements to make for the FF or KH franchises on Switch. Namco may have another title up its sleeve; E3 would be a good time to announce what FromSoft is working on for Switch. I'd say given Nintendo and Platinum's relationship, we could see a new game for Switch announced by them.

I'm 50-50 on whether they would announce Pokemon Stars at or around E3 but if they don't then it isn't releasing this year. Regardless of whether Pokemon Stars exists or even a GF developed Pokemon game for Switch at all; I do expect Game Freak to release at least one more title for Gen 7.
