I get one strong indication from these marketing teasers for Scorpio: Confidence. This thing must be showcasing incredible results not just internally, but also with 3rd parties.

The entire point of marketing is to display confidence in your product. The difference here is the sheer production quality and effectiveness of the marketing, probably because they're using the same strategy as their Surface marketing.

It all stems from the design project of this guy http://www.minimallyminimal.com/blog/2012/7/3/the-next-microsoft.html

He was subsequently hired by MS and I get the feeling he very much influenced the brand posture of MS and their newest products with the aesthetic espoused in that design project.
