Sony E3 Conference confirmed for usual time (Monday 6pm PT)

The reality is that without that mocap actor slipup about Spider-Man and shinobi leaking stuff from Sony's conferences last year, the lead up to them would've been exactly the same. Sony themselves pretty much shuts down leading up to conferences. If you go to Twitter accounts for Sony employees you won't find a whole lot about E3. You may see them saying they're excited that it's coming up, but that's about it. But it seems as if Sony doesn't want their own employees hyping the event and instead will just let the event speak on its own.

This is the first time in forever that I genuinely don't care about surprises, just more information about the games out there. Days Gone, Dad of War, GT Sport, Dreams information would make me more than happy. If there was any game I could ask for now, it would be the reason I got a PS4 which is Sucker Punch. They get that games should be about gameplay, inFamous titles play so well and I just love them. It has been 3 years, hoping they have something to show now.

People jumped to compare Day's Gone and TLoU because last year's demo didn't do a good job of separating itself from that and other zombie games

Personally I feel like that criticism/comparison is more applicable to God of War. I hope Santa Monica proves me wrong

GOW demo last year was not targeted at the typical gow audience, it was used to draw in the new audience. Over the years, Kratos has always been known as a jerk, so the demo was used to show a new side of Kratos. I love how Cory Barlog said that we will see more of the Bruce Barner side of Kratos now instead of just Hulk. As for the gameplay, he already confirms the gameplay will still be there, just like previous GOWs.

Going to go ahead and make my final prediction for the Sony conference. Yes it's pretty cookie-cutter but that isn't necessarily a bad thing!

Since Life is Strange is one of June's PS+ titles I am wondering/hoping if LiS 2 and/or the prequel shows up during Sony's conference.

Things will not happen this E3(Sony conference):

- Devil May Cry 5
- Kingdom Hearts III
- Final Fantasy VII
- The Last of Us: Part II
- Ni No Kuni II
- From Software

Couldnt Ni No Kuni II be in a booth somewhere?

And I expect FROM but I am 50/50 on them being at Sony.

Right about the rest though

First you say they can never impress you and now you say 75? I'm willing to be it will be closer to 85

I don't care for zombie games that much that's why I don't think they can impress me.

I can't even think of a zombie/zombie-like game that made me hype since the PS2 days other than TLOU.

Yea it's all good.

What you thinking about the release date? Feel good hit of summer 18?

My hot take on release dates are Spider-Man Jan 2018, God of War March 2018, and Days Gone May 2018 and I will be there day 1 for all of them.

Hoping for a fall release for Detroit, GT Sport, Ni No Kuni 2 and a Dreams beta late this summer.

Yup I see this isn't going to be a good place to talk about the game I suppose ah well

We got similar reaction following the horizon reveal.

Days gone, god of war, zelda botw, spiderman ps4 were the most talked about games at e3 last year. People outside of gaf clearly want to see more of them

Would like to see what GG is working on.

Id not be suprised if we got another killzone on top of horizon dlc i honestly expect horizon 2 to be much larger, new machines, evolved machines, ie fire stormhawk variants, that its a ps5 launch title.

That said whats the likely hood of a new ratchet and clank in 2018

Funny enough those four games have circulated my social Media feeds lol I was surprised to see a caption reading the zombie game you've been waiting for for a video on Facebook. Clicked on it what I see days gone the part where they come pouring out the train lol

I'd add crash to that too crazy how many ppl have talked about it

Yeah a friend of mine who only owns an xb1,asked me about that video and a similar video showing detroit. Needless to say he caved and got a ps4 slim in anticipation for those and to play horizon

Sorry, but I hope not.
Sony's press conference is already cluttered with games we already know how they play.

It seems that they don't even follow their route of the last years where they showed gameplay of games that release in the same year. I expected they'd do the same for games like U:TLL, Knack 2 or GT Sports this year but it seems that they'll waste time for them on their press conference this time. In addition to some of their lame marketing deals it is already filled with a lot of known gameplay. I don't see the appeal to see gameplay of story driven games like LiS anyways.

While I do not expect it at the Sony presser, I would like an update on Hob from Runic Games. I hope we get a release date soon.

We won't get a Crash Team Racing announcement. The special announcement will be Crash Bandicoot t-shirts and merchandise. Maybe a special edition of N-Sane Trilogy, they talked about doing that earlier didn't they.

It's probably too soon for CTR anyway. Whatever surprise they're hyping gotta be towards the trilogy

I agree. I think they'd wait to see how NST sells before going ahead with a sequel. And IIRC CTR is the only one that Sony owns rather than Activision.

I don´t think they´d wait and see how it sells.
Preorder numbers should be telling and the trilogy should be going gold about now.

Yeah, they'll have a good idea how well it's going to sell already by its pre-order numbers. It seems to be doing well on many of the Amazon stores

Amazon US: 18
UK: 2
France: 12
Germany: 5
Spain: 11
Canada: 4
Italy: 4
Mexico: 2

And typically games don't make it to the top of the sellers until a week or so before they launch. The fact that it's already so high and it doesn't release until the end of the month is a very good sign.

I get that but I'm talking more about the direction of the game and how it's supposed to be "narrative focused", how the combat looks dumbed down, walking sections etc

This E3 should tell whether classic GoW fans are still being catered to or not

That's why I mentioned Cory's quote. It's not just about hack and slash anymore, but rather an invested story about Kratos. Cory wants to show more of Kratos's side, and it cant be done without walking and talking. Let's be honest, the narrative in previous games werent that good.

As a fan of the old GoW games, I welcome the new direction they're taking. The one thing I've always felt was missing in GoW was that the story and characters never resonated with me. I found them inconsequential and I really didn't care what happened in the story or to Kratos. The new GoW looks like it's going to address that, and I'm excited for it.
