Based on what I know, what I have been told, and the details of the system, I expect a higher price then most seem to. Gun to my head, I'd say $499, though again that is my estimate, I am not presenting that as fact. It's a lot of expensive tech and MS isn't interested in losing money.

If it's $399? That would be amazing. I don't at all think that will happen, but I'd be very happpy if it did.

Makes sense from a financial standpoint. More in line with their Surface tech. It does have a lot more to offer down the line.

Total opposite. Their show is games, games, games, and that's why they had to extend it. Phil also mentioned some games that mean a lot to him, depending on how you take his meaning there. I hope Microsoft blows me away.

oh, i'd be happy if it's games games games, i just dont see surprises in form of 1st party.
we'll see soon tho!

Didn't even realise E3 week has already started, and I've got days off through till Wednesday - looking forward to seeing what Microsoft has in store, not too interested in the Scorpio stuff but excited to hear more about what's coming on the games front, the last game I purchased for it was Gears of War 4.

$399 AND $499

so they can just claim and advertise the $399 price point
make the expensive SKU more desirable with double the HDD size and a game bundled.
the lower SKU will be plain and most enthusiasts will go for the higher one, but the console is still just $399

Profit!

if they don't have different price points and i heavily doubt that, the won't go for $499 - no way
in that case it will be $449 including a free game
i'm ready to get banned, if i'm wrong on this

If Microsoft ever again releases a console (not SKU) at more than $399.99 I will wear the worst Don Mattrick avatar you guys can come up with and I will never remove it.

That's US-$, just to be clear.

Agreed. I think they have to show nothing but games after the Scorpio reveal. Microsoft currently has the well deserved stigma of having no games on their platform and they will only get rid of that stigma by showing game after game on their platforms. I think Phil understands that and will settle all family business tomorrow...

How much did part two sell?

The multiplatform one?

Your argument of "that's what happens when you cut out the market leader" is nonsense. That would have impacted the first game directly. Titanfall 2 sold a ton worse for a variety of reasons, such as being sandwiched between Battlefield and COD, COD essentially lifting its mechanics wholesale in between the two games, TF dropping one of the remaining thing that made it unique (AI grunts)... and because EA didn't champion the game to anywhere near the level that MS did. Which makes sense, because they had Battelfield releasing around the same time, and they didn't even have to confidence to push the original over the finish line. There was going to be no Titanfall 1, let alone a Titanfall 2.

How did that turn out?

Doesn't matter. It just shows that EA and Microsoft are willing to work together to put out a title to help sell a new console. So the mere fact that EA is publishing is not an automatic disqualifier.

I didn't think it was exclusive, but it sure wasn't the publisher that made me think that.

From what has already been officially announced about Scorpio I think it's well worth a 499.99 price tag and if it's that price I will still be first in line ready to pay. That being said 399.99 would pretty much fire the shot at going right after Sony and it needs to happen

And that garbage alpha tech test

The stigma is real but not sure it is fair, to a point. There are gamesb available and coming. Just not as many as Sony. Obvious. However, i really dislike how these games are just glibly dismissed out of hand for the sake of rhetorical points. Not that i necessarily hold a candle for any single one, more that it clashes with my attitude of being interested across platforms and genres.

By me responding to you right now your cool points are rising to a level previously thought unreachable.

You're welcome.

How did that turn out?

It sold more as an exclusive than it did multiplat.

Edit:

That is the reason the sequel was DOA because they cut out the market leader out from a new IP that's suicide. EA learn the lesson they won't make it again.

Oh I see, your argument is that they won't make exclusives because if they go multiplat later, sales will suffer...

That's bogus, there are countless examples of former exclusives going multiplatform and doing big numbers.

That's also not the reason TF2 saw declines. It was sandwhiched between BF1 and COD, where as the original launched in March. Also MS marketed the hell out of TF1. It also won countless awards as trade shows.

EA isn't making an exclusive, but not for the reasons you bring up.

Phil is probably going to pull Scorpio's final name out from a hat on stage. It'll be decided then.

And $449? That's a silly price and points more towards 2 SKU options IMO.

$449 sounds right. It will sell out regardless of price for the holidays...why leave money like that on the table with a cheaper price?

I'm not gonna do that, but in the past I have said I was unhappy with MS's lack of commitment to a strong first party development stable, and I do not believe this E3 will change that.

Would love to be wrong though.

So their first party isn't so hot, Sony has most of the marketing deals yet they're extending PAST 97 minutes? What the hell are they going to talk about? Either they have games stashed or it's going to be the longest indie showcase in the history of E3.

Two SKUs seems the best approach. 1TB for $399 and 2TB launch edition for $499.

I agree that with just one SKU, it can't be $499. That price would kill a good part of the hype around the machine.

Well no matter what Microsoft shows they will end up having Crackdown 3, Sea of Thieves, and State of Decay 2. All three are not a Gears game, or a Forza game, or a Halo game, and all three seem pretty awesome. 2017 could end up being a good year.

What you may be getting at is the notion that 2018 and 2019 is going to be really bad for 1st-party for Microsoft?

I really really hope you are wrong.

They have Scorpio, they have MC, they have their already announced first party ames (and the couple obvious additional ones), they have AC, Anthem, and SoW... it's not like they can't fill the time.

I feel if its above 399 all the press post conference will be about how its too much. Think they need to hit 399

Yeah i keep saying that. The narrative online will be negative when its not $399 or good packed $449 bundle. Dont know if MS can afford that.

I mean, what's the issue then? I'm not quite sure what you want Microsoft to show here.

Do you have any particular wants?

It just makes to much sense for not doing it
They did it with the XBox One and XBox One S the whole time
Launch of Xbox 360 was the same with $299 and $399

XBox One launch was different and we know how that turned out.
Just one option (included with Kinect) hurt them
