Guys, the price is $499 and that is what has been rehearsed.
oh boy

Probably Geoff but it could also be a diversionary tactic in place for their reherseal
My comment didn't say that the average consumer will buy the most powerful console disregarding the price.
I honestly don't understand the outrage over 499. This is a premium product. 499 is pretty cheap for what you're getting.

This thing is DEAD in Canada.

You really think Geoff would leak it without permission from Microsoft?
Geoff sorry to ask but you dont usually leak stuff why now?
But it does nothing to make them competitive with Sony
Which even as a ps fan, I would like to see
People do realise what's inside the console right?
I guess the question is if you can wait until like March to get one when it is inevitably not $499. Buying an Xbone at launch was a huge mistake for me. Price dropped super fast and the launch software sucked. Why not wait until March to play UnitedHealth from Bioware?

Thanks for jumping in Geoff.
$499 is a mistake. The only thing that could hangs my thinking here is if it came with an Elite controller and 2TB hard drive.

Well rehearsing in an empty theatre is best way to rehearse getting no applause...
Its not even coming March 2018 anymore, it has been delayed
The average consumer doesn't look at consoles as first place or second place machines. That's what fanboys think like. The average consumer will simply ask for the most powerful console. Which will be the Scorpio.
Now would the Xbox Scorpio itself lie to us lolMaybe they rehearsed at $499 because of leaks like this?
What I don't get is that, if we're getting price numbers out of rehearsals, why aren't we also getting the name at the same time. Surely, those two bits of information would be in the same paragraph if not the same sentence?
That's less than expected.
Did you see how they'll sell that price? I just can't imagine how they'd think Phil Spencer going on stage and saying 499 again would be a good idea.
Guys, the price is $499 and that is what has been rehearsed.
Just saying, if I wanted to keep a secret I wouldnt have it in the rehearsal.
Console makers got burned last gen doing that and aren't going to repeat. All are taking page out of Nintendo's book and pricing to make profit or near break even. It's the magic of competition. Securing digital libraries is a lucrative idea. Maybe it's worth taking a small hit on profits.

Why are people saying a niche high end console they don't plan on selling a ton of is DOA because of 499?
The non Pro PS4 massively outsells the Pro. Is the Pro Dead?
Expecting Next-Gen Xbox by 2021 then.
what if they faked the entire rehearsal and no one knows what's going to be in the presser?![]()

this smells of a setup for the net so they get a positive reaction to the price
This. Is. Fucking. Awesome.1) This "leak" by a well-known person has already created a bit of buzz around the new console. This thread alone has got 1500 replies in a relatively short period of time.
2) Now people want to check the news and watch the show to see if the price leak is true.
3) People watching the show are then "surprised" that the console price is actually lower than expcted.
4) Give the initial rumoured premium price of $499, people now see the actual price of 399 as a bargain compared to the expensive 499.
It's a win-win-win-win. So marketing wise, there are plenty of reasons.
So uhm, are you supposed to ban Geoff Keighley if he turns out to be wrong...?
Well rehearsing in an empty theatre is best way to rehearse getting no applause...
Yes. Giving their audience time to move from denial to acceptance first. But why. Do they want to give us a few hours in advance to process the disappointment?
