That's why there's the "Unless something changes today" part.![]()
Guys, the price is $499 and that is what has been rehearsed.
I fail to see a problem with the price given the power it's supposed to have.

that's where it is STARTING?
are we going to get a 599 moment

They did trademark XBOX in the uk and us last week...One X it is then.
The other names are ridiculous.

I bet the UK price will be about £525
That is exactly what will happen and it is perplexing how so many people can't see it. There is no way MS would release a premium version of an already existing product at a sale price. It would devalue the entire line. They'll milk as much money out of $499 as they can...and people will pay...then drop the price for a sale later on to spike sales. Which is exactly what they've done this entire generation.Wouldn't start just mean the price it launches at, and that it could have a price drop down the line?
This thing is DEAD in Canada.
What I don't know is what's in the configuration for $499. But that's where it's starting.
I don't leak games because I would never do that to game creators -- they deserve their moment. This is different, it's the price of a piece of hardware.
There better be some amazing looking games shown off at E3.

In the middle of the PlayStation conference, Steve Race was called on stage to deliver a small speech about the new console. He walked up to the podium, simply said 299 and sat back down again. The room exploded.
Oh the speech? The shortest speech in the history of E3, laughs Race.
The interesting thing was that up until the very last minute we were debating what the price was going to be. It was varying between $299 and $399. And myself, my CFO Tom Krause, and Olaf Olafsson, were battling it out with the Japanese to try and get the $299 price point, which we thought was much more compelling.
We started our discussions in the afternoon before the speech, and even by the morning it was still to be decided. We finally got the go-ahead early morning. I have no idea what Id have said if theyd have insisted on $399. You could probably tell, but I didnt have a speech prepared.
Kalinske added: We actually thought they were going to be $399. So that was a big surprise, and as it turned out it was a great competitive move for them. Now clearly they lost money at that price for quite a while before they could bring the production cost down. But it was a brilliant move on their part. We didnt know they were going to do it and when they did it we said: Well, gee. We are kinda screwed here arent we? Because we werent making money at $399, so we knew we had a problem.
Not sure why everybody believed Pachter's $400 prediction in the first place.
If the current exchange rate is to go by it'l stick at £449 here.
I guess the question is if you can wait until like March to get one when it is inevitably not $499. Buying an Xbone at launch was a huge mistake for me. Price dropped super fast and the launch software sucked. Why not wait until March to play UnitedHealth from Bioware?
So hardly no one then.Don't see how it is DOA. The console is targeted at the people that bought an Xbox One for $500.
Why not just launch a new generation then.
Scorpio at $399 would have kept me on the Xbox eco system for Destiny 2. Now I'll start looking at a PS4 Pro instead
Damn ruthless lolHe can't see higher that 720p anyways. Why would he want this?
Why not just launch a new generation then.
Microsoft about to do....
