Game soundtracks on vinyl | Analogue Gen 33fps

Witcher 3 vinyl on ebay. 2 LP. $49 or a $200 Buy it Now. I really want to bid just to stop Buy it Now from happening, and bid it up to $500 just to waste this guy's time for the next 8 days. Probably drag it on as long as possible after I win until he realizes I'm not paying. But I'm not that bored right now.

Maybe tomorrow.

Does anyone have a good recommendation on a more-or-less affordable phono pre-amp with USB output for ripping vinyl? Preferably one that does full 96kHz/24-bit or more?

My turntable has a built-in preamp (that can be toggled off) and USB output but it's limited to 48kHz/16-bit and probably not very good quality.

Also can I just use a general purpose amp (one that typically has XLR inputs) or does a phono signal specifically require a phono preamp?

I don't know of a good USB preamp really. I see there's a couple options but I have no experience with them. And looking at a few reviews it looks like even some of the pricier ones (Pro-Ject's $100 USB box for example) still have issues with the output not being particularly dynamic. There are ways to do great rips of your records I'm just not as familiar with how to do it.

Do you happen to have an lp120? I ask because while you can toggle the preamp on and off the digital signal still travels through the preamp circuit when off so you'd actually get a better sound if you just removed the phono preamp completely (there's tutorials online but it obviously is a bit of an undertaking). Also the USB output is pretty meh on the lp120 as the output comes out pretty flat but it's listenable.

You can use a general amp. Some amps (especially vintage ones) have a phono input that does not require the extra phono preamp. I have a technics amp that I nearly blew my speakers out when testing for the first time because I had my phono preamp connected. If your amp just has a general red and white input (not labelled specifically phono) then you will most likely still need the preamp or everything will be unlistenably quiet). Hope that helps.

One used player manufacturer I can say I would avoid is anything by bang and Olufsen. Their players look gorgeous and can be bought for pretty cheap but the cartridge are proprietary and theres only one option for replacement that costs a few hundred by default.

As someone using a B&O turntable I can definitely second this. They made great tables in their day, but the proprietary parts are painful for your wallet (as if this hobby wasn't bad enough on the wallet as it is).

I would, but last 3 tweets to them they ignored. They don't care about me and my 2 followers. Rpbtz on the other hand....However, I just looked at Ebay again. More listings are starting to pop up, but it gives me a happy heart to see 0 have sold so far. Unless I'm filtering wrong.

Looks like the thirst is genuine.
I think I'll keep mine wrapped for a bit. Maybe I'll get to trade it for the TLOU set still in shrink if that doesn't get a reprint any time soon.

Whew on that Witcher 3 LP price. Mine came in and sounds nice, but I feel like selling it and buying some insane games like Metal Warriors or EVO Search for Eden.

I just wish it was a more sturdy gatefold. I hate how the first LP can come out both sides, and that the sleeve for Hearts of Stone came busted up. I've never purchased a 3LP set so maybe the gatefold issues are normal?

The thought crossed my mind on selling, but I'm holding on to mine.

Sorry to hear about the sleeve busting. I didn't have the same outcome, so perhaps it was just a packaging error. Maybe see if Spacelab can send another sleeve?

So apparently the EU supplier of the Witcher 3 records oversold and are offering the affected people either a full refund or to keep their order because:

the supplier of the soundtracks will announce some good news regarding some further vinyl copies of Witcher soundtrack within the next four to six weeks

Hopefully they're still talking about the 3LP variant here, so at least this could be good news to those who missed out on it completely (although it sucks for those who had their orders cancelled).

Hmmm, I bought vinyl from GL a few days before the official release. I haven't heard anything since my purchase confirmation though.

The Witcher 3LP records sound amazing, and mine came in with no dents (although I grabbed the $2 extra packaging just to be safe, glad I did!)
Now I just need to get a nice frame to display the sigs! Anyone have a suggestion on a good record frame for a thicker gatefold like this? ♥

So the double LP Witcher set I tried to cancel from ThinkGeek once news about future variants broke got dispatched 2 days after requesting cancellation, and now I have £21 of import fees to pay on top.

Gonna put this one straight up on eBay and hopefully recoup most of the expenses. Serves me right for impulse buying.

Yeah it was attempted delivered yesterday for me, and the lovely UPS left a note which had my name as £21.40. Lovely.

My Gunstar Heroes just came in. Another great Data Discs-release.

I really hope they expand soon beyond Sega (even though I love Sega OST's). There is a world full of great videogames OST's that deserve a proper vinyl-release!

You'll have better luck using preamp that's separate from your USB audio io. Any all in one is going to be cutting corners, whereas if you shop around you can get good but older preamps and a USB audio io at very reasonable prices, especially if you only care about stereo in.

Anyone's witcher 3 vinyl ship from that German retailer yet?

Yeah, mine arrived just before the weekend (though I haven't been home to look at it yet). I'm in Europe, though, so if you're in the US it'll probably take a little longer if it shipped already.

Right on. I ordered a couple minutes after you posted the link I believe. I'm in the US and have not gotten any notification regarding cancelation or shipping.

Topic other than price gouging:

I've been waxing poetic about the Designers Republic recently, and though I don't think their more recent output (after their closing/reopening) has the same punch, god damn does their work look amazing on a vinyl sleeve. What would be the game (other than WipEout) that you think they would do the best cover art for a VGM vinyl release?

Ooh, I love my DR! >.< I think their style really suits anything vaguely futuristic which already possesses a confident, clean aesthetic. I could see them doing a release for Mirror's Edge Catalyst (please god), No Man's Sky, Watch Dogs 2, Titanfall 2.

But mostly Mirrors Edge for sure.
And WipEout

To anybody that bought the Hyper Light Drifter, Rez or Persona soundtracks.. FUCK YOU. You did this.

Hah, this is fine and not inappropriate in any way. Nor misguided!

I really enjoy the Rez and HLD releases and would buy them again, overpriced or not. I also give this company their fair share of shit but don't take your shit out on me and others in here who ordered from them.

lmaooooo $100. Can't believe how much they're taking the piss at this point :D Thankfully there's pretty much 0 chance they'll announce anything I'm fond of in the foreseeable future. Do your worst iam8bit, you hacks.

Is there an ETA for the Moonshake stuff? It appears to be sold out. I'd like to know when I can expect my order.

Newsletter said late July for Bananas, and hopefully August for Metroid. Whereas those are most likely estimates, I bet they ship 2-3 times faster than iam8bit...
