I got it wrong, it was the game writer who was liking those tweets yesterday. The dev was liking questionable tweets well over a month ago. I really hate it when month old tweets are taken as gospel.

It's not really derailed. The game has a nice art and a shitty story where "feminism ruined the world".
If it was just the devs views, we could say it's derailed, but no, the dev repeatedly stated that his game is exploring how women and progressives are worst.

We're discussing something on a forum, which is made for discussion. That tends to be the "goal" of most forums. It's not a derail, according to his tweets his beliefs that modern feminism is bad were going to be woven into the story of the game. Given his continued tweeting with the same beliefs even up to this year, chances are high that's still the case.
Who you vote for doesn't somehow define who you are in every other aspect of life or vice versa. I've met Alt Righters that voted for Bernie, several of them. It's hardly rare or unheard of.

Well I've searched a bit and the core idea (at least the newest I could find since the reveal trailer) behind the game seems to be more akin to IA surpassing humans in every possible way and finding a new purpose in life. Not particulary feminisim or anything. No ?

Is it really that hard? They are mostly anti establishment dudes who saw a rebellion and movement against the accepted norms in this country and society that they don't like. They found the same exact thing in the Alt right after Bernie's campaign ended but a far more twisted and ugly version. They just found a new way to stick it to the man and be rebels.

To answer you, yeah I've seen the tweets like everybody else really. Maybe they're an outdated views on the core principals behind the game's story or maybe they're not. I really can't know this.
Like, this almost HAS to happen at this point.
I get the anti-establishment part, and I can imagine people voting for the other extreme after their candidate was eliminated or something. I don't really understand identifying with the alt-right while supporting the far left though.

Most people are erring towards the side of caution since there is plenty of evidence his viewpoints have not changed as of this year (and it would take a lot of work to alter the presentation of themes in a game, so if he still was posting inflammatory things last month what incentive would there be to alter the game up until that point), and little evidence saying that he has changed. Rather than saying "the game no longer supports those viewpoints" the best the lead writer can say is something to the effect that is will present lots of viewpoints, which is a pretty toothless statement imo.
You seem to believe that supporting the far left means agreeing with every single point they make.
In reality, no politician has the exact same views on everything as his voters. Most voters cherry-pick the parts they like while ignoring or minimizing the parts they don't.
There are also single-issue voters who will support left/center/right as long as they agree on the only one issue they care about.
Anti-establishmentarianism is one such single issue.

So let me get this right. Some games recently have added themes and topics relating characters being gay or having certain progressive view points, then the gamergate bellends get triggered and harass developers. But then a ganergater makes a video game which is met with backlash from those who dislike gamergate and they get triggered. It's almost like they now know what it's like to be in that position.

I kinda get your point. Outside the fact that caution is not really what's been exerciced here but more like total annilahtion of the game's seemingly (I do emphasise this word) anti-IA vision and like, the creator itself.
What I don't understand really is the hostility toward the game, whishing it to fail instead of maybe trying to alert the developers (which have already responded but hey, it got sunk pretty fast).
