What did you fucking think of the fucking Beyond Good & Evil 2 trailer?

Prequel? Online exploration? I think my hype is coming back down to realistic levels now.

-Online playground
-prequel, even though the first game ended on a huge cliffhanger and the fans have been asking for the continuation of the story

Who asked for this version of BG&E2?

Yeah seriously

It's weird, my holy trinity of unreleased games as The Last guardian, mirrors Edge and Beyond Good and Evil 2. Mirrors Edge wasn't great, BGE2 looks good but not the sequel I wanted, and TLG I only played the first ten minutes (need to return to it)

An early project for Vivendi to cancel immediately, cool.

...did the first game have that many "fucks"? I don't remember.

Making up for all the ones Ubisoft hasn't given for 15 years. /s

The tone was so different from what I expected that I thought until I saw the name show up that they were trolling again and it was actually a different new IP that they put animals in.

"Seamless online playground" scares me a bit when an engrossing single-player game is what I'd want from the sequel.

Trying to keep my hype from getting too high or low, for now.

This isn't how I wanted BG&E to come back.

Not with Poochy the Pig.

"Look how much I curse and murder! I'm going to shove my face into some tits next when I'm done! Woo, I'm pissing all over your franchise!"

Don't like the "mature" tone/tude. It's really offputting. Other than that this seems like it might be on the right track? At least visually, the art direction, the world, thematically. Kind of difficult to tell much else.

It will of course never actually come out, as it's currently early in development and won't be done for another 2-3 years, which gives Vivendi plenty of time to cancel it.

It is weird. I feel odd.

I was hyped the second the Ubisoft Montpellier name appeared... but then it went down hill quick.

It's hard to gauge from a CGI trailer, but what they showed barely resembles the original BG&E - completely different tone, completely different style, f-bombs...

Sure it looked nice, and the characters seem cool, but that's not at all what I wanted.

I'll wait for some gameplay before I completely give up on it though.

As someone who played the hell out of Beyond Good & Evil, this is so far removed from that game in tone that they may as well have attached a new IP to this instead.

This is gonna be pushed to next gen isn't it?

Current gen is already approaching the 5 year mark and this game doesn't even have a release year window.

Trailer looked great and I would seriously love a movie with that setting.

But I'm still not over how absolutely terrible the ending of the first was and frankly with mention of online right off the bat, not feeling it ...

Guys Ancel wouldn't be crying about finally revealing the game if he wasn't proud of what he was making.

Be optimistic.

ancel is still an employee..if they tell him to jump on stage,he answers "how high?"
i very much doubt that his idea for bge2 was a MMO game

I really like the world they showed and it seems a solid evolution of the world in the first one. I'm also fine with the new tone. I'm worried about how it'll play since they didn't show any game play. I'm fine with it being completely different from the first part, but if it's entirely oriented around multi-player that would be tremendously disappointing.

A foul-mouthed monkey chav as part of a band of thieves with a grime soundtrack?

It looked great, but apart from the re-used soundtrack I didn't see see anything what made the previous game so unique.

I'll wait, but can't help being sceptical.

That BGE2 trailer was possibly the best trailer I've ever seen....I was spellbound.

I'm talking Mass Effect 2 launch trailer levels of amazing.

No Jade?

Seriously Ubi? You make us wait over a decade for a sequel and it's not even a sequel but a prequel with characters who were already pissing me off before the trailer ended.

Ubisoft saved videogames!!!!!!!

That one year where everybody was marking out for FF7 remake, and Shenmue 3 and whatever else, I couldn't have given any less of a shit. But now, I finally know how all those people felt. I'm never going to be more excited to see a CG teaser for a video game, probably ever for the rest of my life.
Haha, I got excited with all you guys even if I'm not a fan of Beyond Good and Evil. You didn't empathize with everyone back in 2015?

+ World design
+ Main character design

– That stupid monkey, design + character
– "Edginess" with constant F-bombs
– Online exploration.. wtf?

Prequel? Online exploration? I think my hype is coming back down to realistic levels now.

I'm repeating myself but when Yves went on stage to say its an outstanding achievement - I'm like "all they showed was a cgi trailer" and that comboed with the online/MMO type comments and planet exploration things that was talked about: All hype on my end died.

This has no bearing on the trailer or how the game could be but i found it really forced to end it off with multi cultural this and multi diverse that.

You cant just let the game speak for itself seriously? Its like the credits at the end of Ass Creed games.

There was absolutely no trace of gameplay in that CG movie. So the game could very well be a 4-color pixelart point & click for all we know (with online).

All their talk of seamless online playground makes me think that it's safe to say it's outside the scope of the Switch.

But hey, I can be wrong..

What is that supposed to mean?

It means don't expect a Switch release.

If it weren't for the title at the end, no one would have guess this was BGaE2.

The pig wasn't enough, especially with the swearing.

Not happy with what was shown here.

As a huge fan of the first game, I think this tonal/timeline shift is smart as hell.

As much as I would have loved to see the continued adventures of Pey'j and Jade, it was the overall world-building that was really memorable about the original game. A soft-relaunch that maintains the diversity, characterization, and European-ness probably will make it feel as though this isn't just a game for fans of the original, which broadens it's appeal.

Ubisoft really delivered today.
