Splatoon 2 |OT| Fresh Squids 2 Go

I've scrubbed multiple times already, 20k...*grumbles* I have a shirt with Ninja Squid (the best ability!) but it's only 2 star, splatfest can't come soon enough.
We share a lot of preferences ;)

Interestingly enough, the Ninja Squid shirt I used in Splatoon 1 was 3 stars, it's now 2 stars. But I've seen that you could get Ninja Squid on other equipments than shirts!

I'd say missing an ability isn't that big an issue, though, the bonus is insanely small (resetting the abilities for 20k is welcome, btw, as is the way to change the probabilities...)

Anybody jumping into Salmon Run for the first time, don’t judge it yet. That weapon selection is brutal and probably shouldn’t happen. Salmo Run is insanely fun, played it the most yesterday and was close to being my favorite mode in the game.

Im sorry but that's not a good enough excuse. They added so many new specials , maps , abilities and gear that everyone has to learn them. Us vets only real plus is that we know how to play .
Well, 1 time out of 4-5, I die because I still use X for jump instead of B, so that goes both ways ;)

It gets fucking rough in the high ranks when there's multiple maws and fireflies everywhere, just turns into a panic bomb throwing disaster lol

Usually just end up shooting the maws when they pop out and ignoring the flies

I broke down and picked it up even though I am not done with BOTW, and I am glad I did so.

I just have 2 questions about playing it that will help me tremendously so I appreciate any assistance here.

Question 01 - Spawning On A Teammate?
Can someone please explain to me how to Spawn to my fellow teammates positions properly? I see each teammate is a direction on the D-Pad, but I have only gotten it to work once or twice. For the life of me I cannot figure out exactly how it works.

So I die, Press X to bring up the map, and lets say I press Right on the D-Pad to join a teammate further in the map. Seriously this has maybe worked 2 out of 100 times? I do not get what I am doing wrong? This is all before the countdown timer to spawning as well.

Any explanation of how to spawn on a teammate properly is beyond appreciated.

Question 02 - Abilities?
Are abilities passive? If so, what do I need to do to activate them besides having them chosen? It is just not very clear how abilities work.

Disclaimer - I did hope right into MP, perhaps the SP Campaign explains the above in detail.

TIA for any clarification on the two above questions. I want to try and not suck at this game like I currently do.

Question 1: Hit the direction, then press A to jump.

How would you guys rank the Specials for a beginner? Currently using the Splattershot Jr. with Ink Armor but don't feel like it's making that big of an impact on the match.

I still can't believe I can't join up with my friend and que for random unranked matches on the same team.
That would screw up the auto balancing of weapons on teams, also would be unfair to the opposing team if two people on the other team were always together and potentially communicating.

I accidentally clicked on that Honeymoon Period thread. First post, Splatoon 2. Ha! Funny enough I actually like 2 of their "issues". I'm glad you can't cancel out once in a lobby. Most waits are super short and I'm sure that's partly because people can't quit at that point. I also like the randomized weapons of Salmon Run. Even when I get stuck with that GD gatling gun...

Playing the splatfest really helped me learn the new jump. Lol
For real though I miss the map. I still have to tell myself not to look straight down to get a peek at it.

I don't see how the bolded is true, but for the rest of what you said, I think that's fine. Happens in games like Overwatch on PS4 occasionally, just try and find games where there is also a couple grouped up.

Ninja Squid on non shirt equipment is a bug with the Annie Orders through the Nintendo Online App. A Post was made on the Splatoon Tumblr explaining this was a bug and that gear with such abilities will be changed to their natural main in due time.

Ok people I get it....

It's more fun to run ahead at the beginning of the match to engage the opposing team. The thing is that's not how you win the match in Turf War. Not only that's not how you win the match but some how and it happens EVERYTIME 3 and sometimes all 4 of the opposing team manages to get past you and not only am I trying to Splat to win but I'm taking on the ENTIRE of the opposing team while doing so. I sometimes score around 1,500 to 1,900 points on the losing side. It's insane.

Hit B rank.

I really like playing from range, but I'm finding Splattershot (or similar) is the easiest carry in the low ranks. Flanking and backline disruption is super strong, especially on Port and Towers for vets - stronger map knowedge.

Painting edges and leaving tiny flank routes is really effective, especially now that it's a bit more of a conscious effort to check the map.

Good luck to everyone getting out of the dregs!

Then pair with other pairs. Other games do this, there doesn't have to be an excuse for everything.

The game tries to put a balance of weapon types on each team. If you have two people who insist on bring on the same team that becomes impossible, especially if they both pick snipers or something.

I'm sure this has been asked many times over, but I'm on mobile and search isn't good:

Why is it that we need to watch the map reveal every time it changes? I get stuck in this unskippable "cutscene" every time I play. Any chance this gets patched. Terribly annoying and pointless from a design perspective.

The ink armour feels next to useless.

The best special in my opinion is the curling-bomb launcher. You can "capture" a point in the map really easily, and have a real good defense too so not many people can come close to you.

My own personal biggest tip if you're playing turf war is to avoid any confrontations and focus on inking turf. I literally swim away from everyone, and get to a place to ink some more turf.

Not dying in a match is what will help you rack up big scores. As dying and waiting to respawn is what will cost you valuable "p".

By doing what I suggest here are my battle stats, it's snapshot of my score with no win bonus (i.e losing team). I earn more than people on the winning team with win bonus at times lol

I'm ranked 18 now, but here is a screenshot to give you an idea of the sort of scores I'm getting by avoiding most encounters, that's actually the highest I've got but I consistently get well over 1000 so when my team winds that's over 2.

Excuse the shitty quality but don't have facebook or twitter and god knows who to upload a screenshot):

Salmon Run is great except for those tiny salmonids that you lose sight of in all the chaos. =(

Also I kinda like the weapon selection being this random.
Sure its much harder right now due to the current weapons ranges but I'd rather give us a fresh challenge than just all normal projectiles.

Everything is better than the Blaster from yesterday. That thing suuuuuuuucks.

Then pair with other pairs. Other games do this, there doesn't have to be an excuse for everything.
Then you'll have to wait ages to find 3 other available pairs, and everyone else will also have to wait longer because the pool of available players for FFA matches would smaller. Why not just accept the game the way it is, gamers are such self-entitled douches sometimes...

Man finally decided to dive into Ranked after not playing much of Splatoon 1 and getting hooked on this game.... I don't think I understand Tower Control. It's over so quick and I'm always on a losing team.

Uhhh.. I don't think wanting to pair up with a friend and suggesting that a game may not be perfect (a game that I really like, by the way) makes me or anyone else a self-entitled douche.

Anything can be improved, including Splatoon. In fact, many developers take fan feedback into consideration and make changes based on it. I don't think my observations are as vitriolic as you think.. maybe take a step back and gain some perspective.

Oddly enough that's how I win almost all of my matches ,but I think it depends on who you have rushing. I try to get in their end as quick as possible ,harrass them and get them focused on chasing me ,while my teammates fill in from behind .

What drives me nuts is when people just throw themselves over and over at the middle instead of flanking and working back toward the enemies base.

The thing is, taking control of the middle is key and should be a priority. By controlling the middle, you are denying the opposition from gaining that territory while also making it easier for your team to push forward into their half if necessary (and preventing them from pushing into yours). The area in between can always be inked on your way back from being killed.

I do agree with you though that everyone rushing head on and potentially getting killed is not a smart strategy. Someone needs to flank, someone needs to hang back, etc.

Man the 30fps in the main hub is so freaking jarring.

Also this game is amazing. Pro controller 100% redeemed. I can already see myself sinking 10x the hours than i dod with splatoon 1

I just played against a level 20 guy the last 5 matches and I gotta say, that fucking Ink Roller he was using is such bullshit, the highest level after him was 12 and I'm 10, that fucker single handedly fucked me up every single time, than thing covers too much space.

It's ok to swim away, if you try shooting a roller coming towards you and you miss you're dead.

By swimming away you then have even more distance, time, and ink, to line up your shot if you really want to kill him.

What I see far too often is people desperate to get a kill.
